Rules

1. This is a game. Have fun. Play to win but please don’t make personal attacks or use derogatory language. Just play your part and help to make the game fun for everyone!

2. All votes must be bolded or use vote tags, e.g.
Vote: Huntress
or VOTE: Huntress, and should be on a new line. Unvotes are not required.

3. A simple majority is required to lynch and when this has been reached any further votes/unvotes will be ignored. If deadline is passed before this happens there will be no lynch.

4. After I have announced a lynch or night-kill the dead player must stop posting in the thread and I will give them a link to the Dead Thread.

5. Days will last a maximum of two weeks (unless extensions are necessary), and nights will last 48 hours (or 72 if night commences on a Friday or Saturday). Any night action sent after the posted deadline will be ignored.

6. I will be prodding anyone who does not post for more than 50 hours without having given prior notification, and will be giving them 24 hours to acknowledge the prod by posting in the thread (or by PM if the thread is locked). If anyone doesn't acknowledge or needs prodding too often I will look for a replacement. Night will not end until any required replacements have been found.

7. If you know you are going to be unavailable to read the thread for a period of more than 48 hours, or are regularly absent at weekends, please indicate that in thread (and not just in your signature). If it is likely to be a long absence I may have to consider replacement.

8.
Do not talk about this game outside of the thread
unless your role PM permits it, and then only in the PT I have provided (which will be made public when the game is over).

9. Do not quote from any mod communication or PT. You may paraphrase them if you wish, but if you are not sure your wording will be acceptable then you are welcome to check with me first.

10. Please do not use invisible or very small text or encryptions. Please do not edit your posts if you have that ability.
I will be posting in green
so please don't use that either (although I'll make an exception for VCAs etc.).

11. Any requests/points addressed to me in the thread (including problems with vote counts) should be bolded. If you have any complaints/problems with this game, or questions about your role, please send me a PM rather than posting them in the thread.

I reserve the right to add to or modify these rules if necessary.

Newbie Setup

Matrix6 (as designed by Cogito Ergo Sum):

ABC
1Town JailkeeperVanilla TownieMafia Goon
2Mafia RoleblockerTown CopTown Doctor
3Town 1-shot
Bulletproof
Mafia GoonTown Tracker

Each Newbie Game will be given a setup that incorporates either one row or one column. The remaining six roles will be filled in by mafia goons and vanilla townies appropriately, to create a 2-mafia and 7-town setup. They are listed below.

Row 1:
Mafia Goon x 2, Town Jailkeeper, Vanilla Townie x 6
Row 2:
Mafia Roleblocker, Mafia Goon, Town Cop, Town Doctor, Vanilla Townie x 5
Row 3:
Mafia Goon x 2, Town 1-shot Bulletproof, Town Tracker, Vanilla Townie x 5
Column A:
Mafia Roleblocker, Mafia Goon, Town Jailkeeper, Town 1-shot Bulletproof, Vanilla Townie x 5
Column B:
Mafia Goon x 2, Town Cop, Vanilla Townie x 6
Column C:
Mafia Goon x 2, Town Doctor, Town Tracker, Vanilla Townie x 5

This game uses the Natural Action Resolution system for determining Night action effects. Roleblocker actions will take precedence over Jailkeeper actions should that apply. The 1-shot Bulletproof is a passive ability that cannot be roleblocked.

Is this a serious question ? Lol

Cause that's how generally things start in mafia games. With an RVS- Random vote stage .

I'm not the IC but I can post the link for RVS.

In RVS we start by casting a few votes for arbitrary reasons so that we have something to start the game.
I'm going to vote for my friend BBT because I'm excited to see him again.

Doing this also sets the stage to generate activity. General inactivity amongst players is a death sentence for the town, and only provides the mafia cover to hide. Typically, active aggressive towns are more progressive towns.

@Aubrey

If you agree that RVS generates activity, which is good for Town, then why have you not voted?

Because at the time I was on my phone, and did not know the code for the votes. I also did not see any options that would immediately set up the code for me on my phone. This is the first time I've played on
this
forum, so I am still getting adjusted to some of the forum functions and how they work.

In the meantime I'll put pressure on VOTE: Raskolnikov. Randi should also get a vote sooner or later since he has no pressure as of yet. If I am correct, everyone by then will have either said something in game, or have a pressure vote on them.

Now here is the problem...once everyone raises their hands for role call, we will need to get the ball rolling from there. Has everyone here played at least one or two games of mafia before? Either on this site or offsite. Gauging general experience will be good for the town in order to keep us from wasting to much time explaining general know-how of the game mechanics should we all already know them. Of course I am mainly speaking out to Neggi, FeedTheScum, randi951, and Shadow_step. Since Neggi didn't know about the early voting mechanic, I'm going to assume this is your first game ever.

If there's already activity, what could a vote with little reason bring to the table?

Different players will interpret RVS votes differently, but overall the point is to create avenues for discussion. My philosophy is that once some votes are down, the other votes start containing more information. I don't yet have any profound observations to share about the votes that have been cast, but casting them means that the next votes to be cast will be more informative.

Hello to all,

I am BlueBloodedToffee (BBT) and I am the Inexperienced Challenged (IC) player in this game. What this means is first and foremost - I am here to play this game with you in a way that will show you what it is like to play on Mafiascum.net and hopefully set an example for you to follow. I am here to win and should be treated as such.

My goals and the rules governing my actions are covered in this handy article: Being a good IC

That article is part of our MafiaWiki System. I highly recommend this system as a good way to get your feet wet and to find out what a lot of the common abbreviations mean.

There is a lot of play strategy discussed in there too. A lot of players consider that advice almost all outdated now. I don't recommend trying to run verbatim with anything there, but a lot of the basic advice is very good to at least be aware of as it can help you avoid blatant pitfalls as you become familiar with the game play here.

Now, as an IC I am here as a resource for you to ask questions of concerning game theory. I WILL NOT lie about game theory answers and will answer them to the best of my ability. I will also offer you the following quick pieces of advice;

1. Don't self-vote. (There are really no points during a Newbie setup where this is a good idea, please avoid it however logical you may think it is)
2. It's generally considered bad town play to simply hammer (place the final vote on somebody to cause their lynch) somebody without 'stating intent to hammer' first. This gives the person under threat of being lynched time to claim, if he so chooses, and make their final post(s).
3. This site frowns on lying if you are a vanilla town role. I strongly advise against lying if you have this role as usually it will only hurt town in the end.
4. It's a game - have fun.

That being said, we should

VOTE: Aubrey

Because she is probably scum.
