Hello Everyone. I am your friendly neighborhood IC. What that means is in addition to my game role which is randomly generated, I am here to help you with game mechanics and other questions of how to play the game. Feel free to ask me questions. You can get a good idea of the role of IC from here Being a good IC. Some things I may have to give a partial answer for because of the game being ongoing. If that happens, I will let you know why, and let you know that I will explain more fully after the game is over.

A few basics:

RVS (Random Voting Stage) and RQS (Random Questioning Stage)

are often used to get the game rolling. You will find that some people prefer one or the other, but both seem to get discussion going which is very important to the game. Especially for townies a lot of solid discussion helps make it easier to catch scum and figure out who the other townies are.

Lurking and Lying

. Lurking is not by itself a scum tell, however it is detrimental to town and it is much better to be active and asking questions, making reads, pushing on people, than to sit back in the sidelines. It is more fun too. Lying, especially in newbie games with the open 2 of 4 setup is very antitown. It can end up getting you lynched if you are a PR, or end up resulting in a CC if you are fake claiming. Just best to play your role as best as you can and not lie.

If you run someone up to L-1

(meaning only needing one more to lynch), then the next person to vote should state INTENT TO HAMMER and give the person being lynched a chance to respond. This way if it turns out to be a mislynch, the town at least has the information it needs from the player.

NL or No Lynch

is only an optimal play on certain circumstances in a game this size. Especially on D 1 it is better to have a mislynch than a NL. You still get information that is valuable in helping determine the scum.

However you are wrong... I am 70% blind and the original color blended too much into the Sepia background, I have been told it does ok on the default blue background.

The newer color has more contrast. When I mod I use bold blue text, so yeah nothing to do with my feelings for the mod, who actually L like ♥

As I said in my rather lengthy intro post, Lurking IS antitown, and yes it is usually a null tell since both town and scum do it.

In this case, I have a feeling they will be prodded soon and may end up being replaced. There is a difference tween lurking and flaking...

Basically when you start attributing scum motivation to things that are way out of the scope of the game, it can lead to WIFOM territory...

But you do get townie points for trying to move us into discussion and past RVS...

IC comment

On this site rarely is NL a good idea... And especially not on Day 1. Yes most of the time we end up with a mislynch but as LGR stated so very well, we still get information that is important to help us narrow down the field.

Not quite willing to give Four a free pass, but I will need to see more before I suspect him too much... in my experience some of the other sites train peeps to push for NL because they tend to be PR heavy games and much faster games as well, so usually when I see someone pushing for a NL on D1, it is because they came from one of those sites.

That being said, we will have a lynch on D 1...

Feeling pretty good about Gg as town and he can go in my town pile at this point...

Not afraid to take on and push on the IC is a good sign.

Candi brings up a good point in the we should all be wary of each other at this point, the paranoia about activity level though does seem a bit off... Level of activity is not a scum tell or a town tell. However you do seem a tad preoccupied with the whole wanting to seem town... Will be watching him closely.

Four does need to stop being so stubborn about his point, however this kind of stubbornness is far more likely to come from town than scum in my experience.

But then I tend to be an easy wagon... I am not a super aggressive player and I am a big picture person so it takes me a while to sort peeps out.

Keep in mind that both of those slots may or may not be scum, however they may very well get replaced by more active players that can clarify those slots.

best right now to focus on those who are posting and are for sure in the game. I have seen too many times someone who posts one or two posts then flakes out, to assume they are scummy.

That being said, we SHOULD push on them more to post. Not posting is anti town as all get out especially this early on. However it is still a nullish tell because both town and scum lurk and both town and scum flake, and both town and scum replace out. So atm I have them as null need MORE.

I am here sorry all I really have been swamped... a lot of emotional stuffs going on in RL Been hard to focus on things.

Meanwhile you are all a great bunch of newbies and deserve better so will ISO peeps and come up with reads for ya all.

Not pacifying there Gg you and LGR have not been afraid to take on the IC and that combined with other things in your posts give me good townie vibes on both your slots.

four I was not trying to get the slots replaced, I was stating something I have seen in many games, that slots with no activity often get replaced. That is not scummy, that is an observation. Just like my point about the whole NL thing. I have seen newbies do that before and turn out to be Town, that does not mean four is definitely Town, it means you need more than just that to assume he is scum.

LOL your wals are not that bad you should have seen some of the walls in my first Newbie game N 1206... unfortunately most of that game got lost in the big crash a bit over a year ago ...

Actually Syr's unvote is town points... will look at ISOs and see who is the scummiest in my book and most likely will be moving my RVS vote. This does not mean I am giving Syr a free pass though.

I could see why you would think that way Candi, but my experience is especially with flash wagons and that definitely was a flash wagon, that someone can very easily hammer without realizing it. and usually turns out to be a town derp hammer instead of scumz especially if it is on D 1. Scumz usually are on their best behavior on D 1 trying to blend in so they get a chance to chat that night.

I have even seen quick lynches happen during RVS... so yeah better to be safe than sorry.

Grim as I have stated before is a fairly solid town read for me. I like the way he keeps pressure going and is pushing on peeps to be active. Also he is fairly transparent in his thinking and his posts make sense from a Town PoV

Liking Raven and Candi too. as prob town. Yes they are buddying, but i think it is more they know each other not strategic buddying, plus it is too blatant for a scum team, not to mention trying to figure out the scum team this early without a flip is pointless, so best to focus on getting the scummiest players lynched and once you have a flip then lokk at associative tells.

Still have some suspictions about Syr, but eh I could be wrong on him. leaning scum

that he is likely to be replaced and I need to go through his ISO before intent to hammer though I like to see what we shake out of Shaboo... one is most likely a flack and could be an easy lynch, the other seems to be actively lurking. Which is where someone posts enough to appear active but they are posting fluff or not much of anything or IIoA (Information instead of Analysis). Like Shaboo is doing.

kudos to grim for such good play I really thought he was town. and so did a lot of other peeps. Candi did pretty good too other than the one part which I and others questioned him on about worrying about activity level.

Candi dont feel too guilty remember it is a game and for the game to be fun and challenging it is important to play to your wincon as best as you can. I cant speak for Raven but I would have wanted you to play the scumz well. It is more fun that way. I can relate though to the feeling guilty cause I get that too sometimes when I am scumz. Especially when someone who is a good friend that I have played with a lot thinks I am town.. like ahem Nacho did recently in a game. I really felt guilty there. But I still did my best and it turned out I was the last scumz shot in that Popcorn Mafia game.

It is an unusual setup and more town sided since mafia have very little power other than to pick the gunbearer. The confirmed townie gunbearer does all the killing in the game.

Actually was pretty safe bussing you when he did cause most of the town had a towny read on you. Still made him look like he was doing something, besides I think he had planned on moving over to me if he got enough suspicion going

The mod has no say in who gets what the roles are completely randomized (I am also a mod).

I really was not lurking though Syr I have had RL issues among the rest of the things now my hearing aid is dying I go Monday to the ENT and hopefully get to an Audiologist soon so we can get a new one...

(and hopefully my insurance will cover it, if not I have to wait til Probate is settled on my Dad's estate).

buddying is viewed as scummy but it is not always done only by scum. I guess the assumption being that had we lynched Raven or she got NKed and flipped, that people would have assumed you were town too, which I would have pointed out as a faulty assumption. The buddying was too blatant in my mind for a scum team, but the opposite is also true, it does not mean you both had to be town. In my first game, both scum buddied me , LS to a lesser degree, but Meta buddied me and defended me so much I became unlynchable in that game. And I made the mistake of voting for the other dude instead of Meta in LYLO.

Not everyone who thinks you are scum is scum and not everyone who thinks you are town is town. A good rule of thumb.

i have set up the V/la for a week I will have some access because NS is a sweetie and has set me up as a user on my dad's computer I gave him. And yes I am still in SEs are a dime a dozen but hard to find ICs So yeah not bailing out on ya all ♥
