2) I don't really have a preference, I just like the game itself. It's the roles that I have preferences with.
3) I am the cult recruiter in this game. I'm not sure if you're expecting scum to answer this question differently to town, but that's the only reason I could see in you asking this. If that's the case, we're likely looking at more than a few mislynches before we get the game moving. Just imo.

In response to both your posts: Yes. Exactly. My point exactly.

Whatever answer they give, you appear to have constructed in your mind what constitutes an acceptable town response. If the response doesn't match your preconception of what they should say, you go ahead and label them scummy. The problem is that it is so freaking obvious what you want to hear, that it's a bit beyond stupid to ask it in the first place.

For example, you thought I was being 'over explanatory.' However, as you'll discover in post game, no matter what people say in answer to your question you won't have any reliable indicator that allows you to determine affiliation. If you try utilize this attempt at analysis then all we will end up with is mislynches. As the IC, your opinion has significantly more weight in the minds of the other newbies. If you declare that a response indicates scum, when it really doesn't, we're going to end up with players who have crystaline and rigid views on what is scummy and not (as opposed to fluid and dynamic or case specific).

Imo, it's not a great way of eliciting responses, of course scum are not going to answer in a way that draws bad attention.

Because you are the IC. You've been playing mafia for about 3 years, and I've been playing for about 4, so we are both perfectly aware of what the other player is doing. The problem is that I see you're asking a question that scum know how to answer in a townie way, and the scum response you'd expect to get will only come from a townie. It's not that there's a mere risk of mislynch by asking it, it's that if you find suspicion on anybody normally, you're going to find it on townies alone.

If you read closely you'll discover I didn't post a trollish answer to get town cred. In fact I never supported the belief that I'm town. The point as I mentioned is that he will discover in post game that every read he makes based upon answer to his question are utterly independent of affiliation -if not opposite to his supposed affiliation.

Don't read into it. That's what I was calling out Ika for. There is no set 'scum' method of answering it. You could argue a scum would feel insecure and hence give a normal answer, or else feel insecure and give an abnormal answer. It legit doesn't mean anything at all.

Ika quite visibly had a clear mindset as to what he was expecting. I gave my opinion by pointing out how obvious it was.

If you want the point explained to you in simple English: What Ika did was dangerous for town because it generates scum reads on null behaviours. If not null then town behaviours. If he wanted discussion, all he had to do was make a different question or leave that question out. That question serves no purpose other than to cause inaccurate reads and mislynches.

Ika knows this, everyone knows this, you're on your own in not knowing this. Alternatively it can be read as a pretty shitty attempt at driving for pressure against a townie as scum.

As I implied, there is not enough material from the other players to substantiate reads. You can't draw an affiliation from a single post in RVS, and that's where most players are atm.

It's a closed ended question so it's purpose clearly isn't to incite discussion, which is why I don't really believe you when you say that's all it was for. play. No indication of his affiliation in this game until I find what I'm looking for. In post 105 of this game he does something similar to right here. Makes up a scum interpretation of a legitimate town behaviour and pushes for a lynch. Result? Mislynch of course.
In this example his very first post Fos'sed the very first poster of the game for a stupid reason. Were they scum? No.

The fact that most of his tunnel exploited fabricated reasoning, such as me having a desire to lynch him is interesting. This could be explained by his egotistical personality, which helps him jump to premature conclusions with no fucks given for accuracy. Alternatively there is the scum interpretation. Trying to find a scum game he played in though. Could you save me the effort and link me Aphix? Thx.

As scum I'm generally more assertive and commanding. The reason for that request was because scummies often lurk when town are busy ripping each other's throats out. I could see that this was becoming a likely TvT fight, so I wanted it to stop.

I was just curious at the casual contradiction. Apparently he thinks it's slow, yet a slow game that's only progressed a few pages from his last post is not hard to keep up with by definition. I lean scum on his slot. If a townie were opting out the reason would probably be logically coherent and compelling/honest.

The next was that there wasn't in fact a lot to respond to as it was a load of bull shit.
