5. Do not talk about this game anywhere else unless I have specified it is permitted such as in a private topic. This includes PM-ing other players.
6. Do not play against the spirit of the rules or of the game. Personal attacks will not be tolerated.
7. No invisible/small/encrypted text allowed.
8. This ruleset is subject to change at any time. If a change is made mid-game, it will be announced in-thread by the mod.

Voting and Deadline Rules:

1. Votes should be made using bolded text (

Vote: insanity018

) or a vote tag (VOTE: insanity018). You can also vote for no lynch. Unvotes when changing votes are not necessary. Votes made inside quoted or spoilered text will not be counted.
2. A lynch (or no lynch) occurs when a simple majority is reached. If deadline is reached without a simple majority, a no lynch occurs.
3. All days have a deadline of 14 days. I may extend this in rare circumstances.
4. When a player is lynched, the game enters twilight. All players may continue to post until I lock the thread.
5. Each night will end after 48 hours and no sooner. The countdown for a night deadline will not start while a replacement is being sought out.
6. All night actions must be submitted by PM or a relevant private topic.
7. In the case of five consecutive phases with no deaths, all factions who have not yet achieved their win condition lose.

Activity Rules:

1. A prod PM will be issued if any player does not post for 48 hours. Prods will be announced in-thread. You have 24 hours to pick up your prod either by posting or PM (if at night). After this time, I may begin seeking a replacement.
2. I may seek replacement immediately without waiting 24 hours if a player receives more than three prods.
3. If you plan to be gone for over 48 hours, please announce that you will be V/LA in-thread (or by PM, if at night).

Each Newbie Game will be given a setup that incorporates either one row or one column. The remaining six roles will be filled in by mafia goons and vanilla townies appropriately, to create a 2-mafia and 7-town setup. For example Row 1 (1 jailkeeper, 1 vanilla townie, 1 mafia goon) would add an additional 5 vanilla townies and 1 mafia goon, for a total setup of 1 jailkeeper, 6 vanilla townies, and 2 mafia goons.

*Roleblocker will take precedence over jailkeeper when resolving night actions should that apply.

Note: This game is being run with Daytalk for the Mafia team.

IC Introduction:

Hello everyone. My name is ika and I am your IC for this game. IC is a bit of humor, standing for Inexperience Challenged. The IC is a volunteer position served by experienced players who wish to help newer folks have an enjoyable experience in their first games, and to help teach some of the basics of the game and answer any questions of mafia game theory which may arise. There are also SE players in the game, which means that they have played a certain number of games including at least one outside of the Road to Rome. SEs are not obligated to answer questions, nor are they obligated to answer honestly should they choose to answer any questions.

The IC position is not at all indicative of role or alignment, so anything I say about mafia theory talk is outside of my alignment. While some things are not absolute, I will not lie about what i personally think if the question at hand is a subjective thing

Please be aware that while I shall not lie to you in my role as IC about theory, you should consider me just as likely as any other player in the game to be on the scum team. While I will not lie about theory talk. What i say about players alignments and reads and everything in between can be a subjective thing based on my role and/or alignment

There is plenty of time in each day phase, so be sure to discuss things with the rest of the players, ask questions, respond to questions from others, and check back in as often as you have the time. An active game is a great deal more fun than an inactive one.

Please do remember to keep things civil. I myself has been known in the past to get very aggressive as a player. However i alwasy try to keep it within the realm of the game. Do not bring personal stuff in here to try to gain an advantage. Its one thing to say you have RL issues, its another to think you are being attacked for your RL issues. Likewise do not question a person RL situation

2) Really prefer a town power role. Outside of that, prefer scum and then vt. Because power is power and knowledge is power.

1) I've been playing Town of Salem for the last two weeks (since I've registered here), which is obviously different than this game, but not so bad. Other than that, a few occasions, when our class played Mafia IRL, but those were too casual to count as "real Mafia experience".
2) It depends on the possible fellow townies/scum mates. I would choose the side whose members are smarter. But assuming I don't have that information in advance, I would choose the uninformed majority. It's more fun figuring the mafia out - if you have decent partners in it.
3) What kind of answer do you expect here? I'm town, but I except everyone to say the same. And I wonder, what your answers would be to these questions?

1) I've played like 5-6 role madness type games off this site, but I've messed around with IRL parlor game Mafia too
2) I love playing scum. There's just more power in it. But town can be fun too, but it's more of a guessing game, whereas scum can plan ahead.
