Just a thought - past scummies winners should get the award as their title, but only the current year would get the

e.g. all past winners of kodak moment get 'Kodak Moment' as their title (unless they already have a unique title), but only mastina gets the banner AND the title

Here are some cons you should understand, though. This would be a bit of work (get list of past scummy winners, filter out those who already have titles, create unique titles for the remainder, assign them to the people on this list, repeat every year for expired winners), and easy to do wrong or in a way that's just cluttered. Furthermore, it could overshadow the current titling tradition and/or the titles of people who got their titles the traditional way.

These are valid cons. The work thing doesn't seem too bad, but most people don't have an actual idea of how much work it would be, nor would they be doing it.

The fear of overshadowing the currently titled is a big thing though. I don't think it would necessarily "overshadow" those titles, because those are each unique, while these other ones are only differentiated by the year of the award, BUT with multiple awards, the sheer bulk of text could make it more notable.

So the question becomes: Is someone who wins 5 scummies but doesn't have a current title, someone who should be more "unique" than someone who's been titled by the community?

It's sort of an accomplishments versus legacy question. Scummies being accomplishments, and titles being representative of the legacy and memories others have of you.

I do think that it does seem unlikely that someone performs well repeatedly, well enough to have multiple scummies, without actually getting a title from that recognition. There are exceptions, but I think those exceptions are deserving of being notable and obvious in a way they currently aren't, simply by virtue of having done things which the community probably SHOULD have titled them for.

For scummers that would recieve multiple titles in this, I only included the one that was awarded in the earliest year.

Some awards changed names through the years. I used the name of the award in the year it was given for the titles, EXCEPT for 'rookie of the year' which might be too long for a title with the date added so I changed in 2008 and 2009 to the more recent 'Best Newbie'

many notable players would receive titles, including drench, guyinfreezer, N, deathnote, t-bone, and many many others.

Most scummy winners already had titles, I went through at least twice the number of profiles that I have names in that list.

The only person to win multiple scummies in the same year that also does not have a title is plotinus. I tried to combine the scummies into "Rising White Knight" but shrug

I included scummers that have a banner currently and would receive one once their banner expires, with a note beside the title.

I would not take away a bad title that went through. Titles that I have concerns about will always have more trouble getting through, and that's how it's always been.

Even if the title was TERRIBLE(which it may be, I don't know Haschel) the sheer injustice of the way you've chosen to handle this means that people who would otherwise not care or be opposed, will be inclined to support it...thereby negating the entire arbitrary process you've put in place for this particular title.

Yep, this is a good resolution. Really, you should give him the title *now*, and if something better comes up and he likes the better suggestion, you just change it to that one, but this is a good compromise, and slightly diminishes my outrage.

Also, I think we need to retitle Varsoon! Scatman is nice but like, his Large setups have come to define him and I think it goes beyond a banner in the scummies! He is extremely good at creating fun, complex, beautiful setups that people flock to and nominate every year! He really deserves recognition for it!
