think we should set up a panel of, say, nine experienced MS members to assess titles. Three ladies, six men comes to mind. Oh and four of them would always oppose the other four on the more controversial titles, with one swing voter. And they would have to hand down lengthy judgements with each decision

I like this. There's far too much bitching about titling to rely on a monarchical system.

Of course it wouldn't reduce the net bitching. That's not why I think the process could use an upgrade over the "5 members + fairy" standard.

Take the scummies committee. It's actually less work to get a nomination through, but the analysis for who gets one at the end of the process goes deeper because it's a discussion between multiple perspectives. Like it's obviously not that important to the quality of the site do if you're going to do it then do it right?

3rd Stand Up Guy

chkflip's title basically needs to reference the fact that he does comedy, and in itself have humor. Standup Scum and Scumedian satisfied the first part but didn't make a strong effort to actually be comedic. Stand Up Guy sounds exactly what I envision chkflip calling himself if he was running off a few one-liners during a routine.
