The Price Is Right

I'm sure everyone here is familiar with The Price Is Right. If you've never heard of it, it's a game where you try and guess the prices of different items. Now, as far as its history in Mish Mash goes, it was run most famously by StrangerCoug, who then retired and handed the game over to me. If anyone remembers, I immediately abandoned the game because I'm a terrible person. Well everyone, this is my apology about 2 and a half years too late, so I hope it delivers!

GAME RULES

All prices are in U.S. dollars. If you live outside of the United States, you will be allowed to use a currency converter to help you—I recommend XE. That is the

ONLY

outside help

ANYONE

is allowed.

The game will take place live at a time all four competitors can be online. Six pricing games will take place, with an item up for bid to determine who gets to play each of them. The veteran and rookie with the highest total monetary winnings after the last pricing game will remain in the game, and the losers will be eliminated. If there is a tie at the end of the game, there is a Showcase prepared to act as a tiebreaker.

ITEM UP FOR BID

To determine who will play each pricing game, I will describe an item before each game. Unlike on the actual TV show, all players will all submit a bid for what they believe the price of the item to be,

. Players must bid a whole number of dollars, and no one's bids will be revealed until all players have bid. The player closest to the actual retail price of the item up for bid without going over will win the item and go on to play a pricing game. If two or more players make the same bid, their bids will cancel out. If everyone overbids or has their bids cancel out, I will withhold the actual price for the moment and restart the bidding process on the same item. If a player bids the correct price, he or she will be awarded a $500 bonus.

Whoever wins an item up for bid wins that item, and its monetary value adds to their score.

PRICING GAMES

The Price Is Right

's pricing games are many and varied, so I will explain each pricing game to the contestants as they come up. The prizes will vary depending on the game, and it is possible to win nothing during each game. While a pricing game is going on, the other players may not post anything regarding price suggestions, but they are free to heckle.

DEADLINES

After each item up for bid is revealed, all players have

5 minutes

to PM their bid to both mods. During pricing games, there will be no strict deadlines enforced, but there is no reason to take more than a couple minutes for most decisions you have to make.

As for timing:
Timing is whenever I'm online

for right now. (I'm leaving in three hours, and I imagine the game would probably take about that long and we're not starting literally this second.)

I'm not going to give a hard time that I can say I'll be there, because none exist.
I'm usually around at some time between 8 PM PST and 4 AM PST, but I share computer access with the rest of my family, meaning if they are on the computer, I can't be. (But if I'm on the computer, they usually won't bump me off.)

(Another reason for the pick is that I'm pretty sure the other four live in timezones where they're asleep at the times I have computer access, whereas I'm pretty sure Frozen Angel is awake during the times I have computer access, so the above shouldn't be too hard for her if I'm correct.)

If necessary, we can make it so the game doesn't take place all in one sitting. That's just what would move the game along the fastest, but we understand if arrangements can't be made for that to be possible.

Frozen Angel, essentially you're just going to be given a product and you have to try and guess the price of that product. All games are a variation of that concept.

if the actual price of something is 14.99 $ and someone guess 15 is that overpricing? what is that counted 14 or 15 (if cents are not in play) ?

It is based on actual retail price! Prices will be only in terms of dollars with no cents involved, unless stated otherwise.

If two players guess the actual price, their guesses will cancel each other out as stated in the rules, but there's a very slim chance of that ever happening.
