Code of Conduct

1. This is a game. Don't be a dick.

3. I'm not infallible; if I make a mistake, point it out nicely and I'll fix it and/or tell you that it's not a mistake.
   
4. Treat me nice, I'll treat you nice. Treat me not-so-nice, I'll do the same to you.
   
5. Private communication is permitted with any player who is still in unless I state otherwise. Do not talk to the terminated players.
   
6. I reserve all rights to implement new rules at any time.
   
7. Editing posts in the game thread will carry a penalty, to be determined relative to the severity of the infraction.

How the Game Works

1. The game will begin with ten players. One of the players is the Mole, working for me to sabotage the players' missions. Your goal is to answer the most important question: Who Is the Mole?
   
2. Each Episode will consist of at least two Tasks. These Tasks have the potential to earn money for the group pot and/or earn individual rewards for the players.
   
3. At the end of each Episode, the players will take a Quiz, consisting of 20 questions about the Mole's identity and performance in the episode's Tasks. The player with the lowest score on each Quiz will be Terminated from the game. Should there be a tie for lowest score, the slowest time will be eliminated.
   
4. There are three main individual rewards that can be earned by the players: Exemptions, Jokers and Hidden Questions.
   
5. Exemptions are free passes on a particular Quiz. If a player has an Exemption, they do not have to take the Quiz and cannot be Terminated.
   
6. Jokers correct a wrong answer on the Quiz. Players choose to play Jokers before starting the Quiz, and the Jokers will correct wrong answers equal to the number played.
   
7. Hidden Questions are advance knowledge of one of the questions on the next Quiz. Players may use this to gather information prior to Quiz time.

How to Win

The winner is decided by the following criteria, in order:

1. If, at any time, all remaining players correctly answer the final question on the Quiz, the Mole will automatically lose the game. Should this happen, nobody will be informed and the game will continue as normal.
   
2. There is a secret goal set at the beginning of the game, a money amount for the Pot to reach. Nobody is informed of this goal, not even the Mole. Should the pot reach this amount, the player who scores the highest on the final Quiz will be declared the winner of the game.
   
3. Should the pot not reach the amount described in #2, regardless of the final results of the Quiz, the Mole will be declared the winner of the game.

I highly recommend that you keep a journal with thoughts about the game as well as vital information. I also recommend that you do this somewhere where it can be shared and I can see it, such as a Google document. No journals or information from journals will ever be shared with another player or The Mole, so don't worry about that, I just like to know what you're thinking.

Task 1

Signature Items

Welcome to Vienna, players! Your first Task will take place on this walkway outside the Hofburg Palace. Currently the official residence of the President of Austria, this palace has been the seat of government for many empires.

From this point forward, you may not privately communicate with any players except your designated partner, which means that for now the only people who may communicate are Ben and Reck.

Before 5pm Eastern time tomorrow, I require something of every player. Ben and Reck, you must pair up the eight remaining players into four pairs and choose an order for them from one to four. The rest of you have a different task: you must choose one item that you own that you feel best represents you as a person. This could be a favorite shirt, a souvenir from a trip or anything else that you feel represents you. Photograph this item without anything else in the picture to give clues and PM it to me.

For the second part of this Task, the eight pictures will be placed along this walkway. Starting from either end, two pairs will make their way down the path. At each station, you will be shown one of the signature items, along with either a blank slot or a player's name.

The job of the pairs, upon arriving at each station, is to determine whose item they are looking at and place that person's name in the blank area. If their name is already there, you may simply elect to move on. Each pair may only place each person's name down ONCE, so be sure you have thought your choice through.

Once all four pairs have seen all eight stations, the photos will be presented to Ben and Reck, your veto players, who will have the chance to change up to

three

of the group's answers. Once they are confident, the answers will be checked. For each correct answer submitted, the group will earn

$250

for the pot.

The first pair will begin at station #1 and move down the path to station #8. At the same time, the second pair will begin at #8 and move to #1. The pace is determined by how quickly you submit to me; if you are faster than the other group, you will reach them before they reach you. Once one of the first two pairs has finished, the third pair will begin from #1, and once a second pair finishes, the fourth pair will begin from #8. You will not be informed which pair placed the name currently attached to a picture.

You may use this thread to discuss pairings and order, but may not discuss your item choice with anybody else. Once the pairs begin walking the path, this thread will be locked.

Jokers on the Table

I've called you down to the lobby of our hotel, the Hotel Imperial, for your second Task. This one is very simple and benefits each individual player, provided you play your cards right.



This is a Joker. Jokers are a very powerful thing. If you play a Joker on a Quiz, it will automatically correct one wrong answer. The more Jokers you have, the safer you are, and today I'm going to offer you some.

Starting right now, over the next 48 to 72 hours, I will begin placing Jokers onto this table. At any time, you may choose to take all the Jokers on the table by simply posting that you will do so. Once someone takes the Jokers, they cannot take any more and the pile begins again at one. However, I only have a limited number of Jokers in my possession, so once I've placed the last one, if nobody takes it, all Jokers left on the table will remain unclaimed.

I will post Jokers at random intervals, so you never know when another one will be added to the pile! You may privately communicate with any players during this Task.

Task 3

Pair the Spares

From this point, you may only privately communicate with players who are in the same car as you.

The eight of you who are not "grounded" have been randomly paired up and placed into four cars on the Wiener Reisenrad. Sleepy has been placed on the ground below the wheel.

The goal of this challenge is to pair up eight of the players into four pairs, each of which represent a different characteristic. One round at a time, the player on the ground will be shown the four categories. They will then choose to swap with one of the players already on the wheel. That player will then be sent to the ground to perform the same task.

The group has a total of

10 swaps

to get the proper arrangement of players. It does not matter which car each pair is in, just so long as the four proper pairs are together. While there may be more than two people who fit under the same characteristic, there is only one solution that has all nine players in the proper place.

For each car you have correct at the end of the swaps, you will earn $500, for a total possible earning of $2,000. The ground player may end the game early by choosing to stop swapping if all 10 swaps are not needed.

Task 4

Path to Temptation

Welcome to the National Library of Vienna. In this beautiful building, you'll be completing your next Task, where you'll have the opportunity to benefit yourself very nicely if you so choose.

One at a time, you will walk around the edge of this room. Along the way, you will encounter ten baskets. Each basket will have something different inside it, be it money, exemptions, hidden questions, Jokers or some combination thereof. At each basket, you will be faced with a choice: take the contents, or move on hoping to find something better?

Once you leave a basket, you may not return to collect its contents. At the end of the challenge, it will only be revealed how much money the group earned, not who earned it nor who took each basket.

After each player completes their turn, they will select the next player to walk the path. You may also pass a message to the next player, but you may only do so by posting it in thread. Other than this public message, there is to be no public communication, and you may only privately message players who are at the same state of the Task as you (so if you haven't started yet, you may PM those who haven't started yet, and once you finish you may only PM players who have finished).

Ryan will be the first to walk the path. Please do not post in-thread except when your turn is complete or if you have a question about the challenge workings.

At 9pm eastern time tomorrow, I will send you the link to a mash-up. Your group's goal is to identify the artists and songs featured in this mash-up. To identify a song or artist, write it in this Google Doc. If you cannot access it, let me know.

You will only have a limited amount of time to complete this task. For every song or artist you correctly identify, you will earn $250. You will lose money for any incorrect identifications, including misspellings or incorrect names.

You may not use ANY resources to identify the songs or artists, so no YouTube, Wikipedia or Google, just your ears.

You may communicate as you wish among your group.

Players, your job is crucial to this task. You will be deciding how much time the other group has to complete their task.

At 9pm eastern time tomorrow, the thread will be unlocked. Once every hour on the hour, one member of your group must post a YouTube video, using the YouTube tags, of a song. Every hour that you successfully complete this, the task will continue. Should you miss an hour, the time will end and the task will be over.

The songs post must follow the following criteria:

1. No song posted may have been released prior to the previous song posted. I don't care when the YouTube video was posted, I care about when the song was actually released.
   
2. A song must be posted on the hour, every hour.
   
3. You may not post more than one song by the same musical artist.
   
4. Your post may not include anything other than the YouTube video or the time will end.
   
5. I may add more restrictions as the challenge continues.

There was some discussion about two of the songs because they are functionally the same and I did not notice this until it was pointed out to me, so for the purposes of this Task there are 11 possible songs and artists that can be used to earn money.

This is the Google Doc that was used to discuss the Task and submit the answers.

As scored on the Doc, the group got a total of 10 correct answers, for a total earning of $2,500, bringing the total pot up to $14,700.

Task 6

Cross Country

Today we'll be moving to a brand new location. The trick is that you must get yourselves there. Here is how this Task works.

First, you will be given a picture of the location you must travel to. The first part of this Task requires you to work together to figure out what this location is. You may use any resource, with one exception:

you may not reverse image search the image using Google or any other search engine

. Don't do that.

Once you've figured out where to go, the real fun begins: you have to get yourselves there. You must send me a PM containing exact instructions on how to get there from the Hotel Imperial in Vienna. You may use any mode of transport you like.

The PM to me must contain exact instructions on how to use each method of transport you have chosen. For example, if you are going to drive, you must include a screenshot of the directions; if you're going to take a taxi, screenshot the taxi website and then include the directions the driver will take; if you're taking a train, screenshot the timetable and cost, etc. The other thing to be considered is time: assume that Vienna time and Eastern time are equal, so if a train is leaving from Vienna at 6pm, just pretend it's 6 eastern. When you send the PM matters as well; this challenge occurs in real time, so if you send me a plan at 7pm that says you're taking a flight that leaves at 6pm, you're gonna have a bad time.

For each team that arrives within

12 hours

of their initial PM, the group will win $500. However, any money spent by your group will be subtracted from this amount, so it is possible, by spending enough, to actually lose money. Not that anybody would want to do that. In addition, the final team to arrive at the location, regardless of when they arrive, will be given an opportunity for a reward.

You will receive the location you must travel to in 10 minutes. If you have questions about this Task, PM me.

drove to Munich, spending a whopping $1,095 to do so. They arrived at 1:59 am.

Jeremy and Jason

caught a ride to Munich, spending a mere $40 to do so. They arrived at 4:04am.

Ryan and Lexi

used two taxis and a bus to get to the Hofbrauhaus, spending $153 to do so. They arrived at 5:13am.

Ben and Sleepy

had no idea where to go and only made it to Germany after production took pity on them and drove them there.

Overall, of a possible $2000, you earned $1500. However, with deductions, you only add $212 to the pot. I'll be nice and round that up to $300 for you today, bringing the current Pot to $15,500.

Task 7

Going on a Trip

For this Task, you'll be playing a game called I'm Going on a Trip. It's very simple if you've not played it before. One at a time, you will say "I'm going on a trip, and I'm taking" followed by the name of an object you are taking. Each time, you will recite the entire list and add one item that begins with the next letter of the alphabet, so the first object should begin with "A," the second "B" and so on.

You have until 8pm eastern time tomorrow to work together to come up with a list of objects from A-Z. The rules are as follows:

1. Each object must be a real object that is not living (so phoenix and python aren't acceptable)
   
2. You may not post two objects in a row, and you may not post again before two other players have posted.
   
3. You may not name more than six objects.
