Personally, I think "Family Guy" Mafia would be absolutely hysterical... South Park is good too, but FG is way better. And hold me a spot when Homestar Runner comes up...

Awhile back (pre-crash) I had thrown the idea of
Illuminati Mafia
out there, based on the infamous Steve Jackson card game. I've been slowly but surely working on the setup, but I'd like to know whether or not anyone'd be interested before I bother, because it's going to be hellish to balance correctly and even tougher to mod, I think... but if the interest is there, I'd be more than willing to give it a shot.

Also, I'm working on a
Wizarding Mafia
where each player is a Wizard with a few unique spells (read: choices) they can cast (Day or Night, depending on the spell, the role, and game balance).

For those of you who might be unfamiliar with the card game Illuminati, this link might prove helpful. It is certainly not your typical card game... it's much more about diplomacy, manipulation, downright low-down backstabbing and general-purpose scumminess... which probably explains why I have such a driving desire to convert it into a Mafia game. :D

I'm also a Lovecraft fan, although I wouldn't consider myself any sort of aficionado. Cthulhu Mafia would be cool, albeit a bit scary...

That is so weird. Just last night I suggested to Fletcher that a Sesame Street or Muppet mafia might be awesome.
I am so very IN if anyone runs Muppet Mafia!!!

(And the old guys were Stadler and Waldorf, by the way.)

I'm still working on the setup for Illuminati, but I expect it'll be done soon... of course, I'm currently modding two games ("Rumours" and a mini that's about to start), so it might be awhile before I can actually start the game.

I would happily play this game, Norinel!

No apology needed... no big. I'm currently modding two games, but when one of them ends I've got two more ready to rock 'n roll... Illuminati and an invitational. I'm not revealing anything about the invitational until I'm ready to start it, though.

Does this mean you would rather only people who watch the show play? I've seen an episode here and there, but I certainly haven't watched the first 5 or 6 seasons. To be honest, I would be surprised to learn that 20 people here
had
watched the show that religiously, considering the rather small demographic mafiascum.net represents (you're asking for nearly 1/7 of the active registered users here).

Having said all of that, I'd be happy to play because I remember enjoying the one or two episodes I saw immensely... but if you only want dedicated fans, I'd have to say no. :?

I've read the Sword of Truth novels... they're some of my favorites. I'd play in a Themed game based on 'em.

The actual game
Munchkin
sucks IMO, but the cards are hysterically funny... and yeah, I'd play in a Mafia game themed on it, you bet... as long as you promise to play in my Illuminati game when I get around to running it, of course.

There seems to be an outcry for a few new Theme games... so I'll once again throw my
Illuminati Mafia
idea (based on the Steve Jackson card game) out there. If I have enough interest here, I'll start signups in the Free Market thread.

So I'm kicking around a "Firefly Mafia" setup... I'd need a co-mod, of course, because of my modding history.

Whaddya think?

Or do you mean themed on the Whedon series?
 Whedon, of course... although the other
would
have a certain entertainment value that perhaps should be worked into another game.

The setup for
Firefly Mafia
(the non-glowy-butts version ) is nearly complete (roles are done, now I'm just writing role PM's, flavor text, etc), and I have a co-mod/backup lined up (our soon-to-be fellow American Talitha :D). It's going to be a 20-player Theme Park game, and I'm ready to begin if/when there's enough interest and we have room for it. Knowledge of the TV series is helpful but not necessary (I'll be providing links to websites with episode summaries and cast lists).

Does that translate to you wanting to play in my Firefly game, or do you want me to come up with a true glowy-butts game?

Also, how many people need to express interest in an idea here before it can be approved to be run in Theme Park?
