I had two prelim questions about the newbie games.

1. Are themeing things precluded entirely? i.e. giving everyone flavorful names but regular roles
2. What is this site even shooting for with the newbie games? Teaching? Fun? Even winning percentage? Or a mix of two or three?

Are there any particular roles people really want in newbies? Seems like cop and roleblockers are in every iteration

As an aside, Are the IC's ok for newbies? I always felt that five games wasn't enough for IC's (and that good ic's should get more recognition), but if there aren't enough of them anyway then restricting it further wouldn't help.

To accept a scummy, you should have to play in a newbie game. Community service for the 'better' player, and Will be good for newer players.

Thoughts?

I thought about that too. But there was/is a problem with IC's and/or good IC's, and this would be a small way to attempt to bolster that. (and of course, in this scenario, could always decline scummy!)

Actually, I disagree. I think there can certainly be a higher standard of IC and IC players, and doing so will facilitate more newer players to stick around, which is the whole point of the newbie queue anyway. I don't think anyone cares if we have 10,000 IC's lined up to play if none of the newer players stick around on the site after playing with them.
