But town also shouldn't attempt to occlude the truth to do so.
If I am town, and am about to be lynched, it is not exactly 'to my wincon' to fakeclaim a PR and risk another PR counterclaiming me.
There is more to winning as town than living.
You're wrong.-

I still say there is more to winning as town than that.
The more town "fight their lynch" the more scum accuse them of flailing. However if sitting on your laurels is not your cup of tea...
Fake claiming is definitely the way to go. You know you're town and that's all that matters. So fakeclaim. Claim Doctor, claim Deputy, hell even claim Jack Of All Trades. Do anything you must to survive. The next claim could be scum and there's no reason why scum should get away with a fake claim when you should not. You're the only person who know's you're town. To hell with the other guy. You're a better scumhunter than them anyway.Last edited by reinoe on Tue Sep 09, 2014 6:41 am, edited 1 time in total.-

But flailing is the common accusation thrown at people fighting their lynch.-

it's a common occurrence but I've only taken to self-voting relatively recently because I've realized that when I'm frustrated I can either get lynched quick and lurk the dead topic or get townreads, survive and things get easier

I know this wasn't directed at me but usually if a town is playing so badly that it's causing a player or players to self vote out of frustration then that's a town that's playing poorly in general. VC analysis and wagon analysis would rarely be done by the surviving players anyway.-

Really? Hmm, I've never seen a self-vote where I've given more than zero fucks but I haven't been here too long.-

What if I'm a jester? What if I'm roleplaying a jester?-

Like, say I claim Miller and after a mass claim there are no claimed Cops. Regardless of my alignment I'm a pro-town lynch.
Just because town does something that makes killing them pro-town does not preclude it from being pro-town and it does make the goal to avoid town making pro-scum moves because *that* is playing to win.
Sometimes the town as a whole just plays like shit. Like have a Miller and a Tracker and nobody realizes that that shit don't add up. I'd consider self-voting in that situation to no longer be affiliated with a town that can't figure out that paradox. I'd self-vote before replacing out.
