Mod Effort?

Mm. I told MoS what I think about this already: in the context of mafiascum, where the focus is mafia, players are exposed time and time again to different games with lots of flavour, etc. After a while, the flvaour just becomes another tool with which to try and hunt the scums, or deceive the town. People read it, and enjoy it, sure, but they then promptly ignore it and get down to business.

On other websites, where mafia might not be the primary focus, and they just happen to run a game every once in a while, roleplaying, for example, is likely to be more common, and flavour obviously helps for that. Also, If you only have a mafia game every once in a while, the flavour helps mak it special: you're more likely to remember that awesome Call of Cthulhu game fondly than some random game with more generic scum.

Anyway. Them's just my thoughts.

Ugh. I really dislike the idea of public death scenes to be taken by mods and modified. If anything, it just encourages the lazy approach to modding. It's probably a much better idea if perhaps a mod who isn't so good at writing death scenes and stuff get's a co-mod to help him deal with that aspect of the game. In the same way, a mod with a really creative idea but who is fairly new to modding and needs technical help might want an experienced co-mod.

Anyway. that's just my thoughts.

IMO, the townies should never have that information to confirm themselves in the first place. At the very least, the townie PM should be posted on the first page (or sent to the scum) so that sort of fkavour claiming isn't possible.
