Acting your town meta when scum

Honestly there have been a few games where I expected town I was facing to act as town as fuck -if they were town- but they instead acted (I discovered later) to a more androgynous (phrasing?) meta where it would be extremely difficult to read them either way.

Agreed. By watering down your town game (i.e. not doing much real scum hunting), it's easier to play scum undetected -
but you're not scum hunting as town
. That's lazy and hurts your team when you're town, which is the majority of the time. The challenge is to learn how to appear to scum hunt convincingly as scum.

Question - is this an acceptable strategy, or is it unethical as it somewhat goes against town wincon in favor of scum games?
