people who are arguing about edge cases are missing the point

regardless, nothing should be done about it outside of just never playing with the idiots who do it for idiotic reasons again

EDIT: how you *think* you'll be read for it and "reactions" are NOT good reasons, these fall under the banner of idiocy

EDIT2: fenchurch's idea isn't *bad* per se, but there are legitimate reasons why self-voting might be allowed in games (as either alignment), so a rule about it might limit certain roles or mechanics (and if you have the rule in some games but not others, you're basically broadcasting that there's a reason for this, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but meh)... it also kind of requires a lot of mods doing this, and a lot of mods are stupid, so *shrug*

no, from a numbers perspective it's theoretically *good* play to self-hammer in a situation where

no other lynch can possibly occur

AND

the game is at odd numbers and there is unlikely a way to block kills

if both of those conditions are true, it is good play. if the game goes to evens, you're essentially giving up a lynch to give scum a free kill

BUT if you're even in that situation in the first place, then the entire town, including yourself, have been playing very badly... it shows a failure on your part to look town and a failure on your part (and the whole town as well) to find and lynch scum and a failure of the whole town to manage the deadline

Imposing limits on players will only guarantee that they will never improve past them, and scaring away new players when they fail will only make your pool of players the same stagnant puddle it was before. I don't really care to read your next novel about a game you lost so hopefully you understood my point.

i mean, the idea of not repeating history's mistakes is kind of a good idea tbh
