Rebels in the Palace

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Sep 22, 2014 12:02 pm

This Setup, Rebels in the Palace, seems like a really fun game to play.

I'm modding this exact game offsite. Eleven players are in it, and most of them are newish players learning the ropes of the game. Some are now coming here to sharpen their skills.

What I'm looking for are volunteers to come in and play this Setup with them. Some are learning very quickly, and some need a bit more guidance on how to play the game. If you want to play and maybe share some tips in this game, that'd be great! Hardcore veterans/Staff would help sharpen their gameplay, as well. Please PM me if you want to play.

I'd like to see more games with RitP's mechanics pop up here, too. :D

In AITP the ideal guards and king strat is random lynch to get assassin (guard and king = town, assassin = scum)

In WITP the ideal strat is wifom to find the "enemy" king then random lynch (The player name 'Who' did this very well in WITP 4) (Guard and King groups = Scum groups, Anarchist = Town)

In RITP the guards and king should be seen as the scum and the rebels as town. Hence actual scum hunting should go on I say its the one closest to being mafia like of the 3

I believe the Assassin, Anarchist, Rebels have an advantage in each game type (Historically they win the most)

I'll gladly /in given I have alot of background with these game types. When's this gonna be in the queue?

This game is actually offsite, and can start immediately.

Please PM me for the link if you want to play.

We have 11 players so far. :D

Normally I'd understand rules against off-site advertising, but I find it odd in this instance because Wake's off-site games are bringing people to this site.

I'd wager the dogmatism is a result of the username the reported post was attached to at least as much or moreso than the content thereof.

This is true. These games Wake is running offsite are in a small subforum of a much larger forum that is not dedicated to Mafia. He links to the wiki here, people find out about this forum, and come over here to play also. I also doubt anybody is going to leave here to play there instead.

I thought it had to be an unsolicited link to break the rules?

I see an astounding lack of comprehension as to the purpose of the rule.

Wake, I love playing with new players and I'm very interested in the setup. But for a multitude of reasons I'm not going to sign up for another forum to play mafia.

If you want to run RITP in our queues and invite some of your other site people to come sign up for it, let me know. I'd be happy to play.

The mods are unlikely to approve it in the open queue, and the format isn't normal.

Not sure if dumb or troll.
How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder,
without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better,
and not the world about them?

You lose that wager. I was bored and reading recent posts and I happened to read it. I know Wake is a fine upstanding gentleman and a credit to this site. But I saw him offering to PM a link to an off-site game, so I just made a gentle reminder of "hey, that's kinda not cool."

Right. Wake didn't break site rules and he's not being subject to any sort of punishment or censure. But, y'know, it's kinda skating the edge and I figured I'd sorta mention it..

I'm getting somewhat mixed signals, because in this thread I was looking for help in spreading Mafia. (http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=53874) If we were to go the unsolicited route, wouldn't all one need to do is ask someone for help?

My interactions have brought players to the other site, and players from there to here. Some come here to sharpen their skills and feel out the meta here, and some here go there to help show the newer players the ropes. By no means is it trolling: it's helping see that Mafia continues to thrive. My goal is to ask some players to come over and play some over there, to change things up a bit while throwing some mental curveballs to learn from. If a handful here want to play in a game over there (while primarily playing their games here), I am hoping that can continue to happen. I'm not trying to kidnap veterans here, lol. Trying to change the meta at the other side a bit, to help show how different Mafia can be with different players with different levels of experience.

If you'd rather I not ask in public then I'll respect that.
