Is it possible for (or does there already exist) a game when half of the roles are revealed and half of the roles are not?

'Semi-open' on this site refers to any game where the subset of possible roles or possible set-ups is known, but the particular set-up is not, e.g.

  • Two of Four - town contains exactly 2 out of [Cop; Doctor; Roleblocker; Miller]
  • F11 - 1 of 4 possible set-ups is used

Assuming that your unrevealed roles are completely secret (and not chosen from a predefined list), then the type of game you describe would still be classified as a Closed game. However, it is perfectly possible within a closed game to make some information publicly known at the start of the game, for instance:

FakeGod wrote:Public Knowledge:
There are three Alices in this game. At least one of them is aligned with Town.
There are no 3rd party aligned roles in this game.
There is only one scum faction in this game.
Mafia member may use any ability he/she has in addition to submitting a night kill.
There is no daychat in this game.
Town and Scum win conditions are public.

So you could say something like:
"The following roles are known to be in this game: X, Y and Z. Additionally, there are exactly 3 other roles."

I'm not sure that such a set-up would be an especially interesting one, in my opinion, because giving so much information about roles doesn't allow much room for inventive fakeclaiming. But it's certainly possible, and it might work.
