Simple but functioning/fun setups

So I've been looking at the newbie setup and I really like it. I was thinking of running Matrix6 is the Micro queue but it's basically a moot point when you can just /in SE. So I've turned my head over to simple, yet functioning, setups. These setups would have simplistic roles in, 100% whitelisted in NRG. Two that I've seen are JK9 and CD9, but I'm wondering if anyone has any simple setups they personally enjoy playing or like the sound of, or even a new one they think would work (although that would obviously also be more appropriate in the Open setups thread.)

Friends and Enemies is good. Near-Vanilla might be up my alley, but I've never played one. Alternating 9P seems to also work out all right? I liked F11 when it was around. Twin Trap isn't teeeeeeeeechnically normal, since Tracker-Immune and Watcher-Immune aren't whitelisted modifiers, but it's still very straightforward. Pick Your Poison is normal outside of the pregame choice given to scum, although I can't help but think Patrick's versions of it were more interesting.

If we're plugging our mountainous opens, don't forget Chosen! More people should run Chosens. Games that balance themselves through forcing scum to behave differently are neat.

Truth and Justice has no sense of balance and shouldn't be played. You can't just take the C9++ format and throw in some weak power roles and strong mafia counters and call it a day. When you're getting setups like 1 bodyguard+6 vanilla townies vs. a mafia JOAT+a mafia roleblocker, something has gone very, very wrong.

The chances of that are rare and 3 cops vs godfather, roleblocker and a mafia goon is the epitome of balance in C9++.
If that happens you basically have a 2v7 moutainous, though I'm still thinking of different ways to change that last section for said flaw.

The chances of any single setup are rare, because that's how C9++ format games work. That does not make the design okay. It just means that your perception of what corresponds to 3 Ms' worth of mafia power is extremely off. I don't want to turn this thread into a discussion of how to fix that, so that's my last word on the subject.

Worse Idea Mafia, one of my all time favorites: All townspeople are dayvigs. Scum has a godfather than can vig, but the goons cannot. The scum gets a night kill as usual. Day ends upon successful dayvig.

Cyclic Mafia is one of my favorite past mafia games. I think simplistic open and closed forms of it are a nifty idea. I don't know in what sense you want it to be simple since the cycling action is a brand new addition, but it lets your add straightforward stuff like jailkeeper and doctor without ever worrying about a lategame massclaim strategy ever accomplishing anything at all.
