There's no real way too unless you have experience requirements, and if they meet those requirements... well... Yeah.

Uhhh, I don't assume anyone signing up for my game is an alt and I don't have the tools to check?

Isn't the idea that they're not meant to be known anyway? (I don't see the point in asking because I don't expect someone to say yeah I'm an alt of x when the entire purpose of their existence is to conceal the identity of their main?)

But that defeats the purpose of an alt because I know who they are if I end up in a game with them now...

I guess I don't really understand what the purpose of allowing alts even is if they're somehow required to disclose who they are to a mod who asks.

And I'm supposed to PM everyone to make sure they're not an alt? (I don't care unless I have reason to care, and if I have reason to care I'm not expecting an honest answer when I ask anyway.) I... have better things to do with my time.

i mean... there's certain markers you look for. like a recent join date and an absence of newbie games. gimmick-y or weird themed usernames is another one to look for.

it really isn't that difficult a task.

If a player is otherwise qualified, I'm not going to doubt their credentials. That's somewhat disrespectful. No amount of work is going to weed out the alts I would be trying to weed out anyway, and weeding out the ones that aren't a problem is unnecessary.

But again there isn't any true quality control because the players I am intending to filter out are not going to be honest to my inquires.

The only situation where they would need to disclose is if the alt has no prior game experience and my game has one. (An experience requirement.) Other than that, I don't see how asking everyone is going to produce the kind of quality control you are talking about.
