Pregame is over I guess.
vote rc

Cause if he's scum he's gonna fool everyone and probably win by getting a cop/gunsmith clear lynched. If he's town well RC is never town. ;)

Then the game hasn't started...

When the title said pregame I didn't really pay attention to anything cause 1. It was pregame and I assumed people were just going to post random bs and 2. I was busy. Had a race on Saturday and all kinds of errands yesterday.

Once I realized people were actually playing during pregame I was sort of confuse by it. I've got better use of my time. I'm also annoyed by this long ass pregame.

When the game starts and my vote actually counts I'll pay attention. You can't get honest reactions from people if they know the votes on them don't matter.

Like we could literally lynch somebody in theory during pregame and their reactions wouldn't give me any info cause they know they can't be lynched so all this voting and shit is pointless.

@Jakefromstatefarm, while voting isn't counted, the suspicions and votes will likely carry on to D1.

That's great if that's what people want to do. Id rather wait til we are actually playing the game to formulate opinions on people.

So, how does this work? You start analyzing posts only after the game starts?

Don't know how I put the spotlight on myself, I'm playing the game. The game just started and I did post something relevant and I am acting differently because I posted a serious vote. I'm not going to stop making jokes when I see something that I can joke about though and if you are thinking I'm going to start right away with content filled posts I'm sad to say you'll be disappointed.

To your other questions. No I didn't read the pages and I probably won't because they are posts made before the game started and imo irrelevant.

In post 401, Roshar wrote:@Jake Adamant refusal to contribute put you under the spotlight. You said out you wouldn't because you don't see the point if you can't vote, because no real pressure can be applied. The assumption was made, that once you could vote, you'd start using your vote to apply pressure. The argument becomes pointless though, once you say you haven't read the past 15 pages. Because assuming you actually didn't, you have no content with which you can apply a serious vote.

I don't understand why you wouldn't read the past 15 pages, esp if you are looking for allegiances, but I'll give your space to play in the way you say you do. We still have 14 days left. All in all, I don't like the apathy displayed.

And finally, when you say RC is a serious vote, what do you mean?

1. Idk if I would call it adamant refusal. You already know I don't care about the "spotlight" so why mention it now?

2.yea the assumption was made that once I could vote, I would do so and I have. Look how things worked out.

3. Why does it become pointless? Why can't I place a serious vote and not have read pre-game? That's a stupid assumption to make.

4. I don't need to have read the past 15 pages to place a serious vote. I placed a serious vote and didn't read the past 15 pages so I kind of just proved its possible. Side note, just cause I didn't read every single post during pre-game doesn't mean I didn't read stuff. I was obviously posting/responding to people during pregame which means I had to read stuff during pregame.

5. Who said I'm looking for allegiances? Idk even what that means. I'm looking for scum and I'm perfectly able to do that without reading pregame.

6. Don't really care if you like the apathy displayed. I'm not here to appease you or anyone else for that matter.

7. It means it's a serious vote. Meaning I seriously want him lynched cause I think he could be scum

Allegiances. Town or scum. We look for both.
Assuming you hadn't read pregame, placing a vote on RC right after day begins would be considered a random vote.

I never said you put yourself in the spot light intentionally.

yeah I guess since you don't know me you don't really know any better but that's exactly how I play. It is a one player game where I am like screw you all I do my own thing. I don't look for town, I only look for scum.

assuming I hadn't read game my vote could be considered a random vote, because that is what people do at the beginning of each game. It was how I planned to start the game as soon as I saw RC was playing but everything in that statement is true based on my experiences which makes my vote serious. Some people may write it off as a grudge vote which would be a valid assumption as well, but imo he has no useful skills that is worthy keeping around if he is town and if he is scum you definitely want him gone ASAP. This is the guy who double bussed his mafia partners hard and convinced town to lynch a gunsmith clear (or maybe it was a cop) to win the game as scum. he is very manipulative and impossible to read as either alignment. He should absolutely be the lynch today and until I see posts from other people that make me think they may be a better lynch. I like my vote where it is at. I don't really think anything said pre-game is going to change my mind but if you disagree please feel free to provide me links or quotes of posts I should consider.

I won't ignore any case that is made on somebody, so if somebody wants to actually make one to convince me to change my vote I'll be here waiting with baited breath.

I think you kind of misinterpreted me. I'm not asking people to not provide information but I am asking them to not provide it in the format of a reads list. People can relay their thoughts on others without making a reads list. List reads give scum info about who they should NK and who they should leave alive to let town mislynch. If you find people scummy you can relay that info without a list read. If you find people town, good for you. Don't share that info unless somebody asks you (which imo nobody should do). No need to share who you think is town, that's not the point of the game.

I am not going to discuss my stance on list reads anymore though. I don't like them and I don't think any town aligned player should post them. if you disagree with me fine but people have previously tried and failed to change my opinion and it's not going to happen no matter how much somebody disagrees with me. So basically agree to disagree about read lists and let's move on
In post 463, mhsmith0 wrote:giving scum more chances to get caught BS'ing

I can honestly say I have never seen scum get caught BS'ing explaining why they thought somebody who was town was actually town. Usually it's when they say why somebody is scum who isn't scum. I don't care who anyone thinks is town, i only care about who thinks who is scum and why they are scum. That is what anyone scumhunting should care about imo.
In post 463, mhsmith0 wrote:Can you point me to an earlier game of yours where you've made similar statements?

I am not a vi thank you very much. if you were ACTUALLY trying to sort me you wouldn't be bothering me with my opinion of list reads. you also wouldn't be bothering me with what posts I have and haven't read even after I already said I read posts during pre-game.

You are trying to make yourself useful by asking questions that already have been answered or that don't really matter.

you wanted games where I talk about list reads, well the MS search function isn't perfect but this should make your job easier - http://forum.mafiascum.net/search.php?s ... r_id=19874
Just a quick skim I see at least 6 games where I mention my dislike of list reads. I am sure at least 1 of those 6 I was town and at least 1 i was scum.

now tell me how my stance on list reads help you figure out my alignment? I'll go ahead and answer that for you actually because the answer is is blatantly obvious. THEY DON'T.

My stance on list reads is a down to my core personal opinion that I maintain regardless of my alignment.

Btw this makes me think you think I'm town. If I were scum, or you thought I was scum, My play couldn't be annoying you. It would be pinging your scum dar and you would be calling me scum.

So mh thinks/knows I'm town. That was productive.

Had you asked me direct questions about my vote to begin with instead of voting me to "motivate me to do better" you would have saved time. You would have also stayed off my radar and wouldn't have revealed yourself as scum.

I refuse to believe a town aligned player who says he likes to be slow with his vote suddenly throws that out the window to vote somebody to "motivate" them to do/play better. That really makes no sense to me. I have to go back and see if you were sheeping somebody else's arguments. I felt like you were.

My vote on RC was serious, as serious as you can be on early day 1. I'm suspicious of him still but now I'm more suspicious of somebody else.

What's going on is when I placed my vote on RC I used the original statement I had planned to use during Rvs, but it was still a serious vote because I was suspicious of him.

I don't think I have ever played with mh before so I can't answer your question. I just don't see his motives being town hence the vote

@mh. You say I'm not opening up but that isn't true. I've provided now 2 people I'm suspicious of. That's being pretty open. If you don't think I'm scum, why are you focusing so much attention on me? If you think I'm scum, why aren't you voting me? If I'm null then why are you focusing on just me? Earlier you said you haven't been able to figure RC out, yet I don't see you trying to figure him out. If you have stronger scum reads why are you not pressuring them?

I get it, I apparently annoy you for some reason, for what reason I have no idea. I've already done more in this game than most of the other players because I have 2 scum reads and have voted both of them.

You vote me right after the game started because I made a joke, you wanted to know when I was going to start providing content but the game had just started. That's an unrealistic expectation from you. If you were town
Imo you would have had a little more patience. This showed a little bit of opportunistic behavior especially since you said yourself you like to be slow with your votes. Looked like greedy scum to me.

Second, you mention I had a lot of posts that had no content but that's not true at all. You can't expect people to post pregame, it's optional and refusal to play pregame isn't alignment indicative.

Third, I find your unvote on me came due to pressure you were receiving from multiple players (nos/mav).

Fourth, you decided to come back to questioning me right after Nos starts questioning me asking me very similar questions as him.

All of this leads me to believe you aren't genuine in your actions and you are probably scum.

I precisely want to know why.

Precisely it's pointless. It isn't helping progress the game. The tone implies that he's town reading RC but is wanting him to do better or improve his play. If he's town he shouldn't be worried about trying to get people to play better, nobody should imo. People play their way. You either like it or don't but trying to get people to change is stupid. If he found it scummy that's something else but still don't try to get people to change.

If he's town he should be looking for scum. If he's suspicious of RC, that's not the questions he should be asking. So is that precise enough?

Pregame you seemed to not like shadow and roshar and wanted more from nos. game starts you vote nos for him making a mountain out of a molehill or something like that.

If you were using pregame after the game started, I would think you would have voted one of the people you were suspicious of and not the one you needed more from. Just my opinion though.

Go read my post about people shouldn't be trying to change the way people's play. It's very relevant right now since that's what you are trying to do with me.

Pressure =/= pressure to unvote. I never said he was pressured to unvote. That could easily make you look like you are trying to twist my words to make me look like a liar.

At the time mhsmith was voting me, you and nos were basically talking about acum active lurking and not wanting to draw attention to themselves and that's not what I was doing. It was because of both of you he unvoted.

That looks like he felt pressure in some way and decided to unvote since 2 people were basically saying the same thing. Now if he wasn't feeling pressure and just changed him mind, who knows but it looked to me like he felt pressure.

Do you happen to have an estimate for when you're going to start playing? Or will we be getting another 30 or so posts that are variations of "sorry guys it's just too early for me to be playing serious"? At least our other high-volume posters are mixing in content with the silliness. Will this help motivate you to start playing?

VOTE: Jake from state farm

More seriously, this is a LOT of posts to basically not be providing any actual content. If it's a scum plan to just look busy, it's a bad one because of how obviously ineffective it is, but sometimes scum simply don't have anything to say so they continue to speak without saying anything.

Other early reads:

Maverick: seems to be taking the game seriously. Asks questions of wide variety of posters, puts his opinions down on the thread, seems to be genuinely interested in sorting people. Obviously scum can fake this, but it doesn't feel fake to me. Town lean.

FA: Obviously a decent number of the posts were just random crap, but there was enough substance in here that I'm feeling good about her right now. Seems genuinely curious about sorting people, and consistently engages in a variety of discussions with a goal of pushing or sorting people. Town lean.

APF: I'm having a hard time sorting him because I can't tell when he's being serious and when he's just BS'ing / reaction testing / lazy (the discussion about seems misguided in that regard because it felt like intentional BS to me). It feels like he's been more serious lately. I still think his reasoning in his vote for me was weak (and the vote / unvote / revote was odd, especially unvoting me because I "agreed" with his post on RC), but early votes tend to be on the weak side unless you've got really dumb scum or something. Null for now but it'd be nice to see a bit more seriousness so that I can actually read him.

Roshar: I'd agree that a decent number of her posts were more theory/mechanics than substance, but I'm not sure that this really stands out in this board (so far). I'm not going to vote her just because her theory stands at odds with people on the board. There's also a level of aggression I'm seeing lately that seems towny. Overall null, with maybe a really small town lean, and I'll +1 on Maverick liking her lately.

RC: I really don't have a sense of him right now. The temper flare-up around was odd, but I'm not sure it's AI. Ditto all the talk about his meta.

Nos: Maverick was correct to point out the lack of content in her posts. Naked voting me as a "ok here now I'm providing content" was really weird. Possibly scummy but seems as likely to just be lazy or reactive than necessarily scummy. Lean scum but largely TBD depending on her content.

Clumsy/FL/Kain/Lowell: meh.

It just seems like gunning for easy pickings to me.

The lack of scum-hunting right off the bat didn't bother me so much as the bloated number of "I'm not trying, here's why I'm not trying" posts. It's a bit of a vote whip, I'll admit, but right now I think he NEEDS that whip. If he impresses me with his content, I'll unvote.

PS While we're talking about vote reasons, why did you vote me? Is it fair for me to suspect that you did it as a response to maverick's prompt to start doing stuff? Or was there a more tangible reason involved?

In post 372, Maverick1102 wrote:I also recall asking why I was town in Lowell's opinion too.

Ninja'd: Would still like to know what motivated it given that I really hadn't spoken much at that point.

Ninja-ja'd: I have to roll with Nos on that one. Whilst I'd like her to participate with more posts like the #368 you quoted, I can't help but want to know why you think that's scummy. I don't appreciate how Jake is acting, but playing so blatently anti-town just isn't something I can see scum doing so early into D1.

I don't care about getting lynched, but I do care about being called a liar when I didn't lie. The facts remain mh voted me and shortly after that you and nos in one way or another said things directed at him about how my actions weren't scummy

Here are your posts

SO 1 player is voting him, another is also questioning his voting me. That very looked like pressure to me and he backed off because of the two of your posts. The fact that he actually quoted one of your posts actually prove it imo.

oh and fyi, stop accusing people of being defensive like it actually means something. It doesn't. Town and scum both can be defensive.

Done. Also deleted the subsequent post asking me to do so.

Does a player voting him not count as applying pressure, yet he feels pressure? You're focusing on pedantic arguments to support your weak read on smith.

And yes, both can be defensive. However you're being defensive to the point of not pushing a read of yours (probably because you know it's weak as hell and you've been called on it) which comes across as backpedalling scum, not town.

Where's the retraction of the liar accusation? Surely after I just proved you wrong I'm due an apology or retraction of some sort.

I'm not even being defensive and yes the reason I'm not pushing for his lynch is exactly because I know I don't have enough on him to convince others. That doesn't make my scum read on him any less legit. I think he's scum and I'll leave my vote on him and in the meantime I'm looking elsewhere. If he says more stuff I find scummy, I'll add that to my list and once I feel I can make a proper push I'll make one. I'm not back pedaling either but you have proven you don't are about what's true or not considering you didn't concede that I didn't actually lie.

Good day sir

They can but your reaction / I don't care about getting lynched and your sudden hippocratic push on me "becuase I didn't start the day phase voting the same persons I called scum in pregame" is scummy as shit

i think you mean to imply I'm being a hypocrite. Well I'm not.

Me not thinking pregame was important has nothing to do with the people who acted like it was. You were one of those people given you were participating in it. I asked you a very simple question, and that question seemed to make you stumble a little because you refused to answer it and when you eventually did your response didn't make much sense to me. Now you vote me and try to imply I'm a hypocrite?

Other things that are false.

1. That I'm hunting for town cred
2. I've backtracked / back peddled.
3. I'm making pedantic arguments
4. I've gotten worked up about you thinking I'm scum
5. That I'm appealing to emotion

What do I think of you? Null leaning scummy. The more you lie about me the scummier you become.

My reads on others don't really matter at this point because that's basically forcing me into doing list reads which I don't do.

I will say I had a town read on one person, but based off their responses to my questions I'm not so sure anymore.

I'm asking people to stop telling me how to play. I'm not telling you how to play. If I was doing that your argument that I was a hypocrite would make more sense. All I did was question why you ignored your pregame reads and you had trouble with it.

If I weren't so sold already on my read I'd probably fall for it and move on but given your experience I'm happy to look at that as a calculated move from scum that isn't coming off.

I proved I didn't lie. Like with actual quotes that show what I'm saying wasn't a lie. If you ignore that and still call me a liar and you aren't scum then yes you have no respect and no integrity. If you haven't figured it out I'm very big on integrity. People don't like me, that I've accepted. It's not just this game. It's my reactionary play style people have issues with. I don't play well with others. But what I do care about is the game of Mafia. It has rules and integrity. Call me scummy for something, I don't care but attack my integrity and that I do care about.

Still did nothing towards the 2 scum reads she had pregame and have basically abandoned them for reasons I still can't get a straight answer for.

This case by case thing looks like a blatant effort to provide content. The fact that you mentioned you used it in another game where it works for you also makes it seem like you are trying to replicate your town meta.

In other words it looks fake and I find it scummy.

im sure people are going to have problems comprehending what I'm trying to say.

If FA were town imo she would have just started doing this stuff instead she basically says "hey guys I'm going to start doing this really awesome thing I did in another game, I was town and I had great reads for it "

Announcing it makes it seem like the motives aren't genuone.

I wan't producing content or explaining my reads. whats your problem with me doing so right now? I don't have a town or scum meta. all my games are completly unique and Identical. be my guest on trying to understand it. I know you shall fail and be my 23rd person in list who tried that.

Like I said my problem isn't that you are doing it. It's the way you did it and also the timing seems off.

Idk anything about logical fallacies and I already explained I'm not being hypocritical. I do know that scum is more likely to discredit people by falsely accusing them of logical fallacies.

What I've done is stay true to myself and call out things as I see them. If you want to twist my actions into something they actually aren't that's on you.

In post 687, Frozen Angel wrote:A False dilemma pushing ?

There are some logical fallacies you need to consider as well

Your questions are basically all loaded questions. Your saying your voting me becuase you think someone else is town which is a sick logical fallacy. Your hard tunneling RC. Your pregame refusal to play was Relativist Fallacy.

I will go case by case later.

Let's disect this post shall we?

1. The questions asking you to explain your reasoning aren't loaded questions. They were an attempt to get to understand your logic and motives. Only somebody who's got something to hide imo would think they were loaded questions. If you answer them truthfully (which I don't feel you have) you have nothing to worry about.

You have ignored your 2 pregame scum reads. You said pregame was important. Instead of focusing on those people you attack nos for making a mountain out of a molehill? That literally makes no sense. It certainly isn't protown imo.

2. I'm not voting you cause I think somebody else is town. That's just outright untrue. I'm voting you because I think you are likely scum because your actions don't look like they come from a town mindset. I did change my vote because I'm unsure of mhsmith, but I don't think he's town. Not yet anyway. So this fallacy accusation is just plain bulllshit.

3. I wasn't hard tunneling RC and haven't hard tunneled RC. You want to see hard tunneling from me I can show you examples. This isn't close to hard tunneling

4. My pregame refusal to play isn't any sort of fallacy. Now you are really grasping at straws. My refusal to play has nothing to do with anything. Nobody was obligated to do anything but make 1 post. The game doesn't start until it starts so people just wasted their time talking.

Now you want to talk about someone being a hypocrite? I'd say that's you.

You said pregame was important yet you ignore your pregame reads. THAT darling, is an accurate example of being a hypocrite. If pregame was important to you, you would have started the game pressuring the scum reads you had.

So as my favorite wrestler used to say

Take those logical fallacy accusations. Shine em up REAL NICE. turn them sumbitches sideways and shove them up your roody poo candy ass.

Doubtful you flip town.

I just read your roshar posts and you ended it with null (leaning scummy) but he was a scum read pregame. I see nothing in your posts that really explain why you lowered your read on him. I also don't see anything that explains why you chose to ignore him once the game started. Is he your scum buddy?

Whilst I shan't dispute this, I'd like to know how you came to this conclusion based on three pretty contentless posts from myself. I'm thinking it's a reaction test? If so, to what end?

I'm not a massive fan of APF's #29 It's very forced and reactionary which simply doesn't need to be the case on page two in pre-game. Hilariously defensive with a voteless OMGUS essentially. Roshar summed it up pretty well in the next post with this, which was my thoughts pretty much upon reading.
In post 30, Roshar wrote:
But you're hard-defending.

What I don't like about Roshar's thoughts on Policy lynches isn't that she disagrees with them, (I disagree with the concept of Policy lynches anyway) but that she wouldn't policy lynch straight away, she'd save them for D2 'in case we have no leads'. It looks like trying to to the nice thing, but comes across as 'we're saving that lynch for later' which simply appears scum-motivated to me. This brings us to her #32 in which she kind of dispels the above, but doesn't really close the case. Lynching an 'unreadable' player D2 in any case is quite likely either scum-motivated or bad play. How you can suggest that you won't have stronger reads than 'unreadable' D2 doesn't sit well with me, and the whole debacle seemed to ignore the posts so far from APF and RC especially. I'm not getting a massively strong read from this in pre-game since it seems more of a theoretical debate than a serious push on a PL D2 due to the lack of game-specific context throughout, but not only does it appear to me as scum-motivated, I also totally wanted to wade in and give my 2 pennies on Policy Lynches. (They're bad.)

In post 72, RadiantCowbells wrote:
If it makes you feel better I really really do want you to be on my side this game.

The terminology in this alarms me. 'My side', not 'Town' or something like that. Don't like this at all.

I also dislike This post 'If he's town and this is actually his scumhunting then I think town is better off without him anyway.' Going on about how being certain in reads is a scumtell, but for several pages as far as I can follow APF appears to be RC's strongest scumread based on a style of play more than anything. I don't like it either and players trying to call the game early especially in such a manner as APF did irritates me, but it just seems very forced and aloof to me.

So far, I don't like Roshar's play - it looks the most scum-motivated of the bunch and so I'll
Pre-Game FOS: Roshar
. This is followed by RC, APF and then everyone else is pretty null to me right now.

First Wall of the game, get in. *Punches air in delight*

This looks like you want maverick on your side and also don't really want to tangle with RC because you know he's town and he's a worse person to tangle with than I am when he's on his game.

You have made many mentions that RC isn't playing like RC yet you avoid directly pressuring him. I think RC scares you.

There's no way anyone can prove anything in a game of Mafia. Cmon you've played this game long enough to know that. Only way to get 100% proof is cop guilty and even then that's not confirmable proof.

This is a part your post don't have. you didn't evaluate anything about her and just said "I don't see anything in there I would call scummy" which is shit becuase your not even evaluated her as town for yourself and basically making a shield against the pressure against her.

Wrong. If you are scum reading somebody or multiple some bodies during pregame, you would vote/pressure them once the game starts.

If you ignore those people, that means there was no point in pregame cause those reads you developed didn't matter once the game began.

This is the post I was looking for. You said the game started we just couldn't vote. This implies that if you could vote your vote would count. Now when you said that you weren't voting anyone but once the game started you were scum reading 2 people.

If the votes count when the day starts I don't get why you wouldn't pressure the people you were already scum reading, since now you could because you know. They would actually count.

Did you not want to actually vote them when it mattered? That's what it looks like to me

my head on the platter is against town wincon . are you playing against town wincon? Your hard tunneling attitude is a very frustrating mate.

1. Good cause you falsely accused me of hard tunneling somebody when it wasn't true, so now you find out first hand what hard tunneling means.

You falsely accuse me of hard tunneling so the best way to show you that it was incorrect is to make you experience it first hand.
You hide behind buzzwords like they actually matter, like they are even remotely accurate (which they aren't). Scum tend to hind behind things like that. Town don't have to hide behind anything.

I'm here right in front of your face and I'm going to make your life a living hell in this game. You wanted me to join this game, I said if I did it would be interesting. Well just remember in the future to be careful what you ask for cause you just might get it

From what I can see roshar was making very good points in his exchanges with you. I think you probably backed off him cause you realized he was somebody who could defend himself well and you are afraid of those kind of people.

Anyway let's get back to lynching FA ok?

asking me to kill myself and taking pleasure in me hurting myself was absolutely abusive behavior.

anyway I am glad town still find a way to pull it out in the end.

don't feel bad, you aren't the only one playing this game that was bad. Fruit's tunnel on me was absolutely horrible

p.edit - actually yes you did and I could quote it if you would like but I think it's best if we never talk or play with each other again.

Cause I was so obv town. Like nothing about my actions or motivations could even remotely come from scum.

Of course I'm biased towards myself but his arguments were fucking weak as shit. You have to look at motive and there was absolutely no scum motive in my actions. Plus like RC said (and I don't care if the mod's disagree). Once the mod stepped in we were both basically confirmed town.

I'm not going to look back and read and I can't remember exactly what was happening. This is a game where people make mistakes, there's no need for you to jump on me afterwards and criticize my play, especially by talking about it like this.
Well I couldn't jump on you during the game so yes post game is the place for criticisms to be made public.

Yeah my games always look different after the reviewers get a hold of them also. Once I want to run a game the way I set it up.

I don't think reviewers make that decision. It's up to the mod to decide of safe claims are going to be given.
