Mini 1142 - Quintessentially English Mafia - Game over!

Quintessentially English Mafia

Brought to you by ChannelDelibird (backup mod: xRECKONERx)

Goodness gracious! It appears that some undesirable mafia-types have infiltrated the quaint English village of Rookborough-Fenwick-on-Sea and are leaving a frightful mess everywhere they go. The scoundrels have even forced the cancellation of the village fête! Indubitably, they have gone too far. I'm afraid there's nothing for it but to congregate at the local public house, The Queen's Bucket, and root out the scallywags! Tally ho!

The Rules

(Stolen from SpeedyKQ and edited)

[1] DO NOT quote your role PMs directly – you must paraphrase the wording. If you are unsure as to what is acceptable, ask me via PM.
[2] Your votes and unvotes must be in bold (
Vote: the French
)
[3] You don't have to unvote before you change your vote, but I'd really like it if you did. (
unvote, vote: Diego Maradona
) Unvotes must be in bold.
[4] You may not discuss the game outside this thread unless your role permits you to. If someone approaches you to discuss the game without me telling you they can do so please report it to me.
[5] Once you are dead you may not post. This means no “bah” post.
[6] If you wish to end the day without a lynch you may
Vote: No Lynch
. A majority of these votes is required to end the day without a lynch.
[7] Days will be deadlined to 3 weeks each. This deadline will not be extended for any reason other than a Mafiascum server crash or similar.
[8] Leave any grudges at the door. Personal attacks will not be tolerated.
[9] Codes, invisible type, small letters or other similar techniques to conceal content of your posts are forbidden.
[10] If you want a player prodded, please request so in thread. I will also prod any players if and when I feel it is appropriate.
[11] I am the mod, and my word is final. I will do my utmost to act in the spirit of the game, and if you want to address something with me, I'll listen, but please do so via PM. But in the end, what I say goes.
[12] Play to your win condition, but don’t be a twat. I, the mod, am the sole judge of twattery in this game. If you think you might be about to be a twat, check with me first.
[13] Have fun!
[14]The tags are mine. Don't use them.

Sample Vanilla Townie Role PM

At least one player received the following role PM:
ChannelDelibird wrote:Welcome to the game! You are a
Vanilla Townie
with no powers save the vote, so use it wisely!

You win when all the mafia are dead and at least one town player is alive. Please confirm by PM.

@Pine: Gasp! I am discovered! Time to use spooky eight eyed mind powers!

Also, if mr.mod could spell my name right in the intro post, that would be cool(Legit, hadn't noticed XD)

MOD EDIT: I swear I spelt it right, just accidentally deleted the last letter whilst removing bold tags.

Vote: DeathRowKitty.
I'm more of a dog person myself.

Also, some initial RQS questions...

What time zone are you in?

RVS or RQS? Why?

How much Mafia experience do you have?

About how active can we expect you to be?

To answer my own questions, I'm on Pacific Daylight Time (GMT-7, I believe). I think both RVS and RQS have their uses, and a game can use both, not necessarily just one or the other. I have a few games under my belt here at MafiaScum, and I try to generally be an active player, posting every day at a minimum.
On hiatus from any new mafia commitments.
Jesus loves you. But that doesn't mean you're town.

gmt-7
RVS, as I'm more experienced with it, and it's more fun. Like the idea of doing both though. This is game 3 or 4 on MS, but otherwise I've played a bunch on other forums, as well as in person as well. And I tend to post before and after work, and usually lurk for most of my day after work, if I'm not playing something in fullscreen

RVS or RQS? Why?
See my pretext

How much Mafia experience do you have?
More than zero

About how active can we expect you to be?

DarthYoshi wrote:RVS or RQS? Why?
RQS. I feel RVS is more-or-less fine as opening jokes, but the game really starts when actual discussion begins. Sure, some people often have reasons for their RVS votes, even if subconscious, but I think they're mostly just unnecessary and misleading as a scumhunting tactic. Actual scum will hide behind the 'randomness' of their votes, and a case can sometimes get rolling against a Townie for illegitimate reasons. I've read several games where Townies tunneled each other because of the OMGUS factor.

On the other hand, RQS (done properly) can get the ball rolling and give you some early insight into a person's methodology and style. Additionally, it can reveal who's going for fluff and who's going for content. Productivity=Townie, Counter-productivity=Scummy.
DarthYoshi wrote:How much Mafia experience do you have?
Loads of experience in live games, but as I start playing in this format, I increasingly find that some of the skills I've learned there are completely irrelevant or actually bad for forum games. So my forum-Mafia is thoroughly
meh
.
DarthYoshi wrote:About how active can we expect you to be?
Very. I have a smartphone and I use it. I'm also fond of walls and densely-explained reasoning, so be on the lookout for that. I'm trying to work on conciseness, but it isn't working very well :(

@Parama: I'm confused by your (apparent) reprimand, I wasn't discussing it.

You're reaching EA. It's natural to be suspicious of someone who RVS's to L-2

Also I thought I'd posted it ages ago but my browser crashed and it turned out it hadn't actually posted.

And, in conclusion: Asking for justification =/= getting nervous.
