To shouts of "Murderer!" and "Outlaw!" the mob swarmed Marquis and tied him to a tree. There was some grumbling over being too soft on an obvious outlaw, but nobody wanted to actually kill him. Despite their success yesterday, they were still nervous about mislynching an innocent man, and, besides, weren't there still some unanswered questions? As they were discussing this, Marquis attempted to untie himself, and he felt something dislodge in his pocket and fall to the ground. Too late, he realized it was his gun. The sight of Marquis's gun on the ground settled matters in the crowd, and someone stepped forward to take it and shoot Marquis.

The crowd had thinned by the time penguin_alien rode back into town on her horse. Judging from the state of the people leaving, however, something exciting must have happened, and the watering hole was likely to be open tonight. The thing she needed most now was a good drink.

There was the story of a rooster. He was a loyal, dutiful rooster. For many years, he had woken up at the crack of dawn and sung the songs of the morning. He had never been late. He would never betray his fellow comrades in this town. Never. Yet, when he had awoken this morning and gotten himself ready to sing, he heard a most awful, foul sound. The sound drowned out everything else. It even drowned out the sounds of the hens snoring; he had never thought that was possible. He hopped down from the roof of the barn and trotted over to the sound's source, and he saw it: a round, golden object, vibrating to the tune of its terrible melody. The farmer who he thought had always loved him, the only one who had ever appreciated the rooster's thankless job of waking the town, stuck out his arm and hit the round object. Now, there was only betrayal in the rooster's eyes.

The day's agenda began with a recap of last night's events. PeregrineV had never liked those discussions much, and he liked it even less today. Luckily, he was standing some ways away from the first person to recount whereabouts during the night, so he had some time to go over his story. He wiped his palms on his jeans. Ah, if only they did not do this so early in the morning! He would have been able to better enjoy his coffee. Busy in his thoughts, he forgot that he had a story to tell, and, when his turn came, the best he could muster was a "Huh?" and a yawn. Where was he last night? No, he didn't remember... It must have been ten? Ten, when he was downing his fifth jug, and that was the last thing he could recall. For good measure, PeregrineV put his arm up to his head to signify a headache. He wiped his other hand on his jeans again. That last action had not gone amiss. The faces of the mob changed -- and by now, it was quite apparently a mob -- and PeregrineV could only see bloodlust in their eyes. He ran for the door, but, before he could reach it, he was overtaken and dragged down into the cellar, where they had kept some rope ready. For once, PeregrineV wished he had told the truth about the drinking.

Most mornings, the town heard the rooster's call to rise, and that was how the people began their day. This morning, however, was not like most mornings, for the first thing they heard was a blood-curdling cry from the fisherfolk who caught a body in one of their fishing nets. A crowd gathered at the pier to watch them pry JacobSavage from the pile of fish and rope. Apparently, JacobSavage had gone wandering into the river in the middle of the night. Given recent events, however, no one doubted that this death was suspicious.

First of all, thank you to everyone who played in this game, and special thanks to all of the replacements and to everyone who stuck this game out to the end.

Second of all, I wish I could say I saved the day, but the truth is that there were more fuck-ups than I've been letting on. I sincerely apologize to everyone (particularly to Marquis and to the Outlaws) who were affected by the mistakes. Some of the mistakes are listed in the moderator QT. The actions are listed there, as well; information from Nights 1 and 2 were reconstructed from JasonWazza's notes. To be fair, JasonWazza kept pretty detailed notes, and he may reveal his QTs if he wants to do that.

On Night 3, there was a discrepancy within my notes, and I realized after someone sent me a PM requesting a result that only half of the actions submitted had been resolved. The missing actions were Bang! cards and the one investigative action, so I resolved those in the middle of Day 4, hence the retroactive damage.

Also on Night 3, pitoli had sent a cop investigation of Marquis. Barrel cards gave a naïve result, but the deputies' investigation was explicitly sane; however, there was no note in either of the renegades' role PMs that they had investigative immunity. The investigation resolved as guilty. I apologized to Marquis, and, to be honest, I'm still not sure if that was a moderator error. Still, that basically ended Marquis's chances of winning.

Finally, and probably the worst, were the Binoculars and Scope cards. I find out late in the game -- maybe around Day 5 -- that the Binoculars were supposed to include both watch and track results with no indication of which result was what (e.g., penguin_alien and PeregrineV watch Majiffy and Majiffy visits pitoli, so penguin_alien and PeregrineV should have received a result of {penguin_alien, PeregrineV, pitoli}). That was a mistake that couldn't be fixed, and it ultimately made the town overpowered. I'm really sorry about that.

The fact was the suit gave good and bad effects depending on which card, Bang, Miss, Beer, Scope, and possibly Mustang depending on your side were good, however the Dynamite, Binoculars, Saloon, Barrel and possibly Mustang depending on your side were bad for you.

Oh, shoot. That's what that list was? I thought it was a list of mod notes for the cards' regular behavior.
