VOTE: Mac

Wagons apparently produce information. Information is good.

I will have more time tonight to really dig into this game, but for now I'm stuck at work and using my break for this. :)

Okay. Farside is town, Dragonspawn is town, Sthar is town, Vilewhirl is town. (Not explaining these yet, just putting them down for reference.)

Soren, do you have any reads on anyone yet? What do you think of Saint?

ABR and BBT have earned my acronym badge of buddying suspicion. IGMEOY two crazy kids. If one of you drew scum, then the other one is being dumb. Neither of you have given enough content to be trusting each other like this in a game where alignments are randomly distributed.

Shinobi, Saint says he only joined the game to play with you. Shouldn't you be playing with him more? Also, Saint, your recent posting makes me wanna lynch you regardless of your alignment. Don't do that.

Antihero, you remember that game where you lurked and lurked and then we voted you and you were scum and we were all like, awesome? Cause I do.

Mac, can you give me a brief "state of the game" update from your perspective? Also, what information do you think people usually get from wagons on Day One?

I'm going to start a petition for TSQ to replace hiplop if hiplop doesn't play soon.

Soren isn't town yet, but this level of fluff isn't anything new. I need him to post more and engage with me more (now that deadline is over and I have time time time to devote here, yay!) before I'm putting him in town for sure.

So not really a concern, just a need for direct communication.

I'm glad you're town too! :) <3

I don't like the ABR-BBT team-up without any real reasoning or apparent thought on either of their parts. I don't have a particular bias toward BBT scum over ABR scum, but the whole thing looks really hinky to me, especially given ABR's vote on you right after you voted BBT.

This. I would like an answer too. I love playing with Farside and I'm not crazy about people using charged words to attack playstyles anyway, especially when they don't even know the gender of the person they're talking about (which is freaking obvious, by the way).

I do have a question, which has been nagging at me for a bit:

@Soren, why do you think I'm a leader as town? What are you even basing this on? I really don't see that. Can you link a game where that was true?

Waiting for an answer from Soren on the town leader thing. I'm wondering why he felt compelled to say something like that when I think it's pretty demonstrably not true.

I didn't like him when I voted him; shallow reasoning and not much content in his content. I haven't seen a thing that's changed.

I'm waiting for BBT to respond to my question before I get into it too much though.

I pointed it out a few times already. Because of your big post.

And it was Taylor Swift game where, in my eyes at least, you took the role of town leader.

I don't see how you think I was a town leader there. Maybe we have different definitions of leadership.

@Soren: I was gone all weekend for Memorial Day weekend. I don't view myself as a town leader (I think Farside is more known for that) but it's really hard to have much of an impact when you're not even here.

You were gone for a while; were you taking your finals? I think one reason people were reading you as scummy is fluff (you should be used to that) and then you were just gone for a while. I assumed you were being tested; was I right?

Generally when you push wagons on people for being too townie you end up lynching town-me or town-someone else. It's not that easy to fake.

@Farside:

I don't think Sthar is scummy. He pointed out another game that I'd forgotten we played together (I'm not great with remembering who's in a hydra) and this feels like his town game to me.

Antihero lurks as scum; that's not enough to earn him a vote from me yet, but I got my eye on it.

Soren is off. I just feel definitely that he is OFF and not the same perky happy cheerful townie that I know. That IS enough to earn him a vote:

VOTE: Soren

Saint was hyperreactive, overemotional, insulting and I did not like it. I don't have any meta context and so far I haven't had time to go diving for any, but I'd have to if I wanted to use these playstyle issues as a reason to vote him. So I'm chalking it up to playstyle because of my own laziness right now.

I don't like Hiplop, but I think it's just because I like TSQ and I made a joke at the beginning that if he lurked and didn't post I'd petition to have him replaced by TSQ. I can see how this would hurt someone's feelings, and I'm sorry, Hiplop; it wasn't meant as a slam at you. Though I do think you lurk a lot! Your pushes are bad and I don't like them much, so I'm also watching you.

Mac I thought was scummy, but I don't have the experience with him that I do with Soren so I'm going with the vote I'm most confident in.

BBT: Yeah, he's scummy, but it's his playstyle. I don't need to sort him today.

Others I don't really have a read on. Don't expect me to ever have a read on ABR, though. I <3 him but he's a wild man and I don't know how to read him at all.

Whose opinion do you think I'm sheeping?

My meta is old, to be fair, but it's accurate for then. I didn't meta you recently. Are you suggesting that I should? Has your opinion of meta changed in the past four years?

@Antihero: You do lurk as scum. You're also smart enough to have picked up on the fact that people have noticed this. I don't know what you think I'm supposed to have gleaned from your postings that would have made you a major priority for me; because you lurk as scum, I don't have a good picture of your scum game -- you lurk too much for me to derive a clear picture there. I don't think you're scum, so you're not a focus for me right now.

I mean, what do you want of me in this regard?

Okay, this is JUST my opinion. But Soren-town is bubbly and outgoing and trying to get conversation going all the time. I asked him if he was done with finals; he said yes. But he's still not here. He's not participating in a way that makes his presence known. I don't have scum meta for him, but this is not my town meta of him.

Also, the town leader thing is still throwing me for a loop. It seems false to me (REALLY false) and it feels like he was just trying to justify some town-read on me that he was sheeping rather than having for himself. Like fabricated reasoning for calling me town, if that makes sense.

Meh, it's not conclusive, but I'm not comfortable with Soren's play here given what I know of his town game.

Things I agree with:

Soren's playstyle is scattershot. He is hard to pin down as town.
He does change his mind a lot.

Things I don't agree with:

I don't think he calls people too scummy to be scum. I don't remember that anyway.
The motivation about defending BBT is like the motivation for calling me town because I was somehow a leader. It's to provide apparent content without actually getting into the nitty gritty of the game. Active lurking? I think.

I would think that votes on him would serve as motivation. He didn't even jump on me and I expected it. So I dunno.

You and ABR were expressing confidence in each other's alignments after neither of you had posted much to speak of. I stand by my statement that this is dumb.

I believe Farside to be town and I like her personally. Can you provide examples of me "buddying" her, please? I don't agree with her on Sthar, so there's that.

Also, I want people to note this wagon, which appears to be a counterwagon, and who is pushing it (BBT and Shinobi) and who jumps on it later, if anyone does. Thanks in advance :)

He's doing them NOW, sure, but he wasn't when I posted that.

But this still doesn't constitute a case on me, which I'd very much like you to put in the work to assemble. Thanks in advance!

That's IT?

You don't like that I pressured Soren when he was not acting the way I expected?

The "lining up lynches" thing is ridiculous too. I haven't tried to bandwagon other people to join my suspicion on Soren (as you have done to me) and I have actually given mitigating points about Hiplop (with whom I have old but perhaps still relevant meta experience). Your push on me is crap, but you know that I'm sure.

That's all you got, seriously, though?

Because I think anyone who's reading the thread can see that you're rewriting history a bit there. You've basically gone down the list of every person I've expressed less than a townread on and tried to discredit it. Why would I waste time defending against points that are crap in the first place?

Better things to do.

Also -- and you just pointed it out to me:

How do you know that any of those people are not scum, anyway? You're assuming that they are all town, since you're arguing I'm scum lining up mislynches on them -- how do you know they're mislynches, BBT?

I'll do you a deal, BBT. If you get me lynched today, you get speedlynched tomorrow. Deal?

Because I know my alignment. Your pretend-certainty that I'm scum reads fake as hell to me, especially given the tissue-paper weakness of your arguments against me.

Starting to think Farside was right about you all along.

Blatant misrep there. I said your playstyle is scummy. He's scummy but it's his playstyle. Nice how you selectively cherry pick what you want to out of my posts.

There's also the bonus of this that I somehow missed first time around;

In post 876, Bookitty wrote:Mac I thought was scummy, but I don't have the experience with him that I do with Soren so I'm going with the vote I'm most confident in.

I just demonstrated how you are misrepping and skewing the facts to try to push my lynch (and you're encouraging others to vote me on really shabby logic). What could possibly be your pro-town motivation for this?

You're telling me you would have played differently and that I should have voted Hiplop or attacked Anti (who IS lurking now, by the way) more fervently.

In honesty, I'm only really disappointed in Farside. She's played with me enough that when she misreads me (or pretends to) it actually makes me a little sad. If she's scum, it's her job, though.

I'm town, BBT, and I'm not meaning to AtE you.

I'm seriously not really caring if I'm lynched, though. It's really close to deadline. I do need to go check to see who the other wagon was before that happens, though, because it's a safe bet I'm the town counterwagon to a wagon on scum already in progress.

Soren and Antihero.

It's interesting, though, because farside was voting BBT and then moved to the wagon he started. THAT doesn't seem right.

And how do you know they're town, BBT? Can you give details on why you know that with such certainty?

And Saint is town because why?

Who do you propose as my supposed scumpartners, anyway? You're clearing half the players based on... what again? A defense of you and an analysis on Soren that dismisses the biggest issue I had with him as not important?

Semantics are part of the game. You know that yourself.

@BBT: Either you are confbiased town (in which case I'm sorry, but you had every chance to get unconfbiased and you didn't take it) or you are scum pushing a lynch on me for reasons I cannot figure out other than I look like a threat.

Shinobi and Farside, however, look really hinky for jumping on this. Farside in particular ought to know better.

I would request that people just vote me, please. I don't think I've ever self-voted and since BBT won't take me up on my offer, I guess this won't be the game either. But please just vote me to avoid a no-lynch and then look HARD at those three tomorrow. Especially Farside and Shinobi. BBT is obvious, but they slid onto the wagon with nary a care and that reads really scummy to me.

Thank you <3

Confbias or lying. I don't know which.

But I'm willing to die to prove I'm right. So it's all fine :)

Blatant misrep there. I said your playstyle is scummy. He's scummy but it's his playstyle. Nice how you selectively cherry pick what you want to out of my posts.

There's also the bonus of this that I somehow missed first time around;

I engaged you, BBT. Then you started asking more and more questions. I am familiar with the technique; drown someone in questions until they are sick of answering, then start screeching, "OMG, you are avoiding my questions!"

I submit that your questions were stupid and that you'll look just as guilty to everyone tomorrow as you do to me now, so good luck with that. <3

Not the point. If you're town, Soren, I expect you to avenge me. If you don't, I'm going to be very very upset with you and I'm going to disavow your signature in every game we're in together.

If you're scum, that's different, but if you're town, you better avenge me.

@Soren: It's cool. I think my wagon will be pretty helpful and I feel like I'm a little overextended on games as it is, so it's not a big deal to me. Hopefully my work and family things will settle down, but being lynched is far from the worst thing ever for me.

I'm sure we'll have other chances. Unless you're scum, in which case, you're dead to me! (Just kidding, in case it wasn't obvious.)

And finally, before I go back to work I don't want to do right now, a modest proposal:

I don't need to do that. Why would scum readily admit they didn't have an awesome reason to vote me? I would think they would fabricate one. Yeah, I am thinking Shin is town too.

Which leaves me with Farside and wondering if she and BBT were distancing early on or if she's scum by herself. Because her splat onto my wagon doesn't make good sense to me at all.

My worry is that scum might be PR hunting. That's especially true if Farside is scum (and I'm considering that now) and is trying to elicit claims by jumping on large wagons over and over. I'm way safer to lynch for town because I'm known not to be a PR, so running someone else up who will claim is only going to work if we are pretty sure that person is scum. I don't object to lynching ABR based on his postings, but rather based on possible PR things, if you see what I mean.

@VileWhirl: Yes, I agree -- I was saying I don't have any alt reasons but I have other reasons based on his postings here.

Why did you vote me, Farside?

Did you agree with BBT's case on me? Do you think he's town now?

See, my "AtE" and "BS" (and other acronyms) ONLY matter if I flip town, and you don't think that's going to happen, right?

So what's your worry?

Guess what, Farside? I'm town. And I'm going to continue pointing out the scums as they hop on my wagon.

To me, what you did (naked vote jumping on a wagon started by someone you claimed to think was scum) was far worse than what BBT did (concoct crap reasons for pushing my wagon) and, since I support my own wagon, it's not something you can dodge tomorrow.

Hiplop looks meh; he could be opportunistic scum jumping on, but it's just as likely he doesn't have a clue what's going on in this game.

@Soren: Farside and I are friends regardless of our respective alignments. We play hard but both of us know it's just a game :)

Nonetheless, I think she's scum here! OMG scummity scum scum.

What lie? You're going to have to clarify -- you mean the thing about wagons? Yeah, you're right, I didn't check back. I knew you were on Mac with me before I ended up having the weekend from hell. I knew you jumped on me from BBT as soon as I got enough votes to make it viable. I'm a bit paranoid (and that's partly why I want to be lynched) because I think that we don't need to out a power role today and that alone makes me a decent lynch.

That said, though, your jump on me makes no kinda sense if you're town. In time, you will see that I was right. (I'm guessing about 24 hours if I remember correctly.) But I'm betting you know I'm right already.

Like I said, I have not been very engaged in this game. I do not mind being lynched here. But I do think you need to look at the post that he was quoting, which actually was a reads list on people in the game. He's picked out quotes (and I refuted them) out of context. You're letting him get away with it even though you were voting him right before.

To me, that makes you worse than him. He's being opportunistic, sure, but you're being just as opportunistic with what you may perceive as less risk.

I'm gone for a bit, but when I come back I would like to see more votes on me. We can't afford a no-lynch and I would like to give my reads again before night falls. (I'm still collecting them, but they'll mean so much more after my flip.)

You didn't counter them. You ignored them for all I saw; you started asking other questions. It looked to me like you were playing "Gotcha" and not addressing anything that I said (I didn't say Anti was lurking, for instance, but you strawmanned that I had and then addressed the thing you'd made up. That's ONE example) and I neither have the time nor the interest to play that game with you.

I prefer just to flip town and let you do some splaining tomorrow.

Also, to be fair, I sort of won that title by default. If Fferyllt had been able to play more consistently, she would have won and I believe she deserved to win anyway. So I wouldn't put huge stock in the title if I were you.

Just please LOOK at the wagon tomorrow. I'm very serious about this. If you're town, you have a ton to work with and you'll know I'm being truthful, so READ what people are saying and the excuses they are using to push this lynch. I beg of you to do it.

I haven't even mentioned Farside other than to point something out to her, so her "continue" thing is nonsense anyway. That's my top scum pick on my wagon. BBT is right there, but I've seen similar from him (and he's seen similar from me, by the way) and he was town and I was town in that case. So those two top my list. I'm not so sure about Hiplop.

I still prefer to be lynched. I don't trust this sudden flashwagon on Dragonspawn any further than I can throw it and there are already the first hints that it's going to be the same story tomorrow if you don't lynch me today. BBT's sudden change of heart is flatly weird. I'm not voting Dragonspawn, so that's one vote that's not going there.

That said, I think VileWhirl is town. Farside isn't engaging me at all on her supposed scumread and she never has, so I feel pretty sure it's faked. I would support a wagon there, but there isn't one and I don't think there is time to build one right now.

So just do it and then go after the scary people on the wagon tomorrow.

Thanks in advance! <3

It's pretty simple math, really.

I read Dragonspawn as town being railroaded pretty much like I was.

Either he's a VT, in which case we're equal, or he's a power role, in which case he's more important than me.

My wagon is only really informative with my flip.

So let's have my flip.

Why are you so AGAINST my lynch now, suddenly?

No. That's not right, though -- either the ABR thing demonstrates that I'm town, or it doesn't. You're wishy-washying around about it, so why not just find out?

You can't be having it both ways, BBT. You can't say "Oh, she might be scum, but let's wagon someone else for not defending her hard enough!"

No.

Dragonspawn, vote me please. I would appreciate it.

It's not being wrong, Shinobi.

He moves off me and is voting Dragonspawn based on VileWhirl's argument of Dragonspawn not defending me hard enough.

But BBT still wants to keep the option open that I'm scum even while sheeping VileWhirl's argument, which definitely assumes I'm town.

This means that tomorrow will be a repeat of today, but with someone I think is town dead into the bargain.

I don't want that, and you shouldn't either.

BBT's sudden epiphany seems a bit convenient to me. He had access to the same info VileWhirl did, but he wasn't interested at all when it happened. I see no way in which BBT and Farside don't come back to the same tired arguments short of my death.

I don't have to be alive to win, but I think my death will provide more information than one more day of this crap will.

Okay, that makes sense. Here's my issue.

Wagon on me goes to L-2. I think the wagon is pretty revealing and I think it's worth analyzing.

VileWhirl has been against my lynch from the start. I don't know if he's scum WKing or town, but I <3 him regardless so I don't care at this point.

BBT has been pushing my wagon and by his own admission tunneling. Yet, with one magical word from VileWhirl about something that BBT was present for and ignored at the time, BBT is suddenly convinced that I'm no longer a good wagon. He's keeping his option open, though, and saying that I still could be scum.

Why does he suddenly see the light? What stops him from tunneling me right into the grave? Why does he jump on Dragonspawn for reasons that shouldn't really make any sense to him if he is in fact still scumreading me?

The evidence provided wasn't good enough to create the "come-to-Jesus" epiphany that BBT apparently had.

He's keeping the option open. That means he's keeping a question mark over my head, like a zombie saving brains to eat later.

I prefer to be on the menu sooner since it looks inevitable anyway.

I don't happen to think I'm engaging in an appeal to emotion, since I am dead serious that I am sick of this particular little dance and I don't intend to play it anymore with you. If you're so certain I'm scum, why are you trying to inch your way off my wagon even though you said you were going to stay the course before? What's your hurry? Stay a while, why dontcha?

Okay, here are my reads. I don't expect to be around this evening, so I want to put these out there now regardless of how things turn out.

My Fabulous Scum Reads:

Farside. Farside is never wrong on me unless she's scum. She's not someone who just flops onto a wagon with no real commentary and vague imprecations about behavioural tells. I've been wrong on her plenty, but her being wrong on me either speaks to disengagement (and she refuted that angrily, remember) or to her being scum.

Soren. Sorry, Soren, but you're not the bright and sparkly presence I know. I know it's not your fault, but I think you drew scum this time, and I'm sorry.

BlueBloodedToffee. I don't know. I think he's scum, and I hate that he dragged himself off my wagon for what look like artificial reasons.

Saint. I don't like his play and I find it kind of funny that he's setting himself up as the paragon of maturity :) This could be scum.

My Meh, Mediocre or Mysterious:

Albert B. Rampage. This is his town play. It's also his scum play. Don't let him get to LYLO, that's my advice.

Antihero. Stop active lurking, you lurk sack! I remember SmallTown and I won't hesitate if you don't start being the magnificent townbeast that I know you can be. (Soren, if I die, this is on you, because you were there for the other time Anti lurked and was scum.)

Hiplop. I want to say disaffected or lost town? But he'll get mad so let's just say I think he's horribly scummy and should be lynched as soon as I care enough to try to figure out why.

Mac. I'm not scumreading him anymore. I didn't like something something wagons something early on, but I don't think he's terrible now.

The Terrific Townies:

Shinobi. I don't see scum being willing to jump ON my wagon and back off while saying they don't feel confident anywhere. It's so easy just to skate and not to do anything. I am thinking this guy is town.

VileWhirl. I thought about this long and hard. VileWhirl apparently feels like I do, that this game is not what I expected and that I do not like. I think this makes him town. Which is cool, because I think he's awesome.

Dragonspawn. I don't care that he didn't defend me. I don't think he has been around that much and I don't think it's a telling argument, especially considering the mountain of crap dumped on Vilewhirl just for pushing back regarding my wagon. So not interested in this wagon.

Sthar8. He's town, I'll almost guarantee it based on previous experience and his general attitude.

I'm not going to vote someone I think is probably town just to save myself, especially given how cranky I feel about Farside being scum. I don't blame her, it just makes me sad.

I <3 you all, though, guys.

Farside, I'm telling you this as a friend, and you can make of it what you will:

You had me as a strong town read early on. Then you turned on a dime with no actual reasoning and started calling me scum.

You're digging yourself a really huge hole if you're town, Farside. You're acting condescending when you're flat-out wrong, and you're likely to get a good dose of it back.

I'd stop digging. Vote me, that's great, but the snide comments are only going to bite you in the butt. I guarantee it.

@Shinobi: I can provide you with a link in which I got pissed off at being misread as town. BBT was doing the misreading there, and he apparently hasn't learned a thing since then. Just a sec.

This is for everyone, not just Farside.

Early on in this game Farside made some pretty sweeping statements that I was town and that she could always read me. It's in her ISO, and you can read it for yourself.

When she hasn't read me correctly, she's been scum.

She's not reading me correctly here. So I believe her to be scum.

I believe that I'm at L-1 but I honestly haven't been tracking it, so if someone wants to hammer, I'd be most appreciative. <3

@Farside: What you are doing, imo, is setting up a preemptive excuse when I flip town. "Oh, it was her "Mafia playstyle!" despite the fact you can't show one single example of this being my Mafia playstyle in any game.

When I flip town I expect you to apologise to Shinobi for talking down to him in that condescending way when you were WRONG WRONG WRONG.

I gave a readslist, Farside. You claim you're more engaged than I am, so where's yours?

(It's not a competition, it's just an exhibition, so please, folks, no wagering.)

Also, Farside, do you think it's telling that your biggest supporter can't even follow the conversation and was like an explosion of AtE himself when he was under pressure?

@Saint: Farside brought him up in the post I quoted. Please read.

As town in Smalltown, I was angry (as I was early on, because I was thinking you were being unfair about my scheduling issues) and I wasn't always nice and sweet and kind. And you know it. But then I realised here, as I eventually did in Smalltown, that you could have drawn scum and then I felt sort of philosophical and amused about it, as I do here.

I don't think it's particularly mean to hold people accountable for their actions. I am willing to step up and be lynched for not being that engaged here because I've been busy (and yeah, you can check my general level of activity, something I know you've done in the past but something you haven't bothered to do here). What I'm not willing to do is give you a pass and let you say, "Oh it was all her fault" when I flip town, because you've had every chance to engage me and instead you've been talking past me to the crowds.

It's your push, it's your responsibility. Own it!

Even if you don't want to, I expect you'll have to now. <3

Not that anyone will believe me

How do you know you were wrong about me, Farside?

Did my flip happen and Jingle somehow forgot to close the thread?
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

No, but I'm sure I listed Sthar as town. Even if Sthar is scum, that wouldn't make me town, now would it?

Yeah, I have a real issue with Farside chanting that she wanted a vote on me and then reading someone as scummy for voting me. The cogdis makes my head hurt :)

I'm suddenly town as soon as I'm hammered, even though I was the worst most awfulest scum ever before that. :)

Riiiight :)

Yeah, I still think it's more interesting that you towned me without a flip, Farside. You were begging for a hammer and then when you got one you had this epiphany that I was town without even seeing the flip.

That's a pretty bad slip, folks. Don't let them distract you with Sthar now.

I don't see why I should stop pointing out what you did there :)

I'm sorry if it upsets you, but it's exactly what you asked for. Then you decided I was town because you got it.

I can't be the only one who sees this.

any chance at all? :(

That would be AWESOME.

No, I'm town. Just a VT like I said, though, so no big. I think you guys have tons to work with now, though. <3

@Farside: If I had done what you just did, you would be much less amused and much more out for blood than I am. You didn't consider the possibility that I could be scum when Sthar hammered me, though both of us have seen scum hammer scum time and again for towncred. It's a slip, and a bad one, given that you were chanting for my lynch just shortly before.

@Farside: You nightkilled the player who was in smalltown, because you were scum and you were pushing my lynch (just like here) but you couldn't get it done because you didn't have a third party helping you along. I championed you in Survivor because you acted like town, not like opportunistic scum, which is what you've done here.

Your slip speaks for itself. I'm not the only one who saw it. I didn't make you do it; you did it all on your own.

Seriously, what's with this AtE? You jumped on me with a naked vote and responded to everything I said by calling me scum instead of engaging with me. So don't let's rewrite history now just because I got lynched and you now have to own what you did.

You're surely not thinking I'm going to say you after this fiasco, are you?

I don't think you're town, sorry.

Anyway, I am back to sleep. Good luck town! :)

I don't know what this means (and yeah, I know I lied and said I was sleeping but I'm a bit keyed up). I <3 you Farside, and you know it. I'm not mad and I don't have any hard feelings. I just think you slipped. I roll scum often enough that I'm not judging anyone for that; it's a random assignment, not a lifestyle choice :)

<3 I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. I called them like I saw them here, but in the end you know I still <3 you no matter what.
