Fate town slipped by not understanding the full mechanics of the scum team / thinking we're in a traditional multiball. He later said he could easily fake this sort of reaction, but I don't think it would be a necessary measure that early as scum. More than enough to hand out a d1 pass. "confirmed town" is stronger language than I'd use to describe that read, obv.

In the car on the way to Reck's, Fate claimed scum to me (NY, recruiting). This is another townish thing, because I don't think scum are looking to burn their n1 on a recruit. Poe night kills need to happen first, so all of the private scum claims we see are coming from gambit img town. Also why I think Matt's is pretty town here, because he attempted a similar gambit.

I know reck and esurio's roles. Fate knows mine, so by proxy so does Reck (town read of Fate's).

I'm looking for an iOS app with support for a bunch of chat protocols, specifically for this game.

I decided that no matter what I think about town reads and PoE, people are going to be making their town reads known anyway. Explaining where my read on fate came from is essential to understanding why I started treating him as a collaborator instead of a scum candidate.

My questions to fate also haven't been inane. He wasn't going to bring his laptop to the scum haus, and I wondered why the fuck he would leave it behind and compromise game integrity by using other machines at the haus (tabs, browser history, etc). Not alignment indicative, but could upset game state which is HIGH priority. We take a lot of precautions at the nunest when we're in games together (no quicktopic visits on our shared MacBook, no posting while in the same room, no audible reactions to posts). It was out of character/judgement lapse for him to want to leave his laptop behind. I wondered if he was just gauging my reaction or just not thinking ahead/consequences, which is standard fare for fate.

Hito is scum, probably with Trollie. The Trollie votes need to pile back on now (I'm looking at you, Eusurio - what you're doing is BAD, BAD, AWFUL even if you think you're voting on a wagon WITH scum).

Nuwen: Hito, why did you unvote the Trollie
Hito: I really don't believe Mattp is a daycop
Nuwen: But how does that make Trollie town
Hito: I'm not sure he's lying scum because :sweetgambits: and etc

Amrun, who are the slots that are both VOTING FOR YOU and SHARED CONFIDENCES WITH YOU.

You will provide at least ONE (1) example of a CONFIDENCE in the form of a private read or similar, and you will provide an approximate time when this happened so we can match it to gamestate.

I haven't been reading your posts since you unvoted Trollie, Pinkie.

Amrun is telling me things that are internally inconsistent. In Nuwenland, this makes people scum or not worth keeping around.

First, Esurio is accurate reporting that NS and Matt are the biggest offenders re: scumread in public / town-treatment in private. I asked Amrun to give me a timeline vis a vis Matt, and it looks like this.
  • Matt tries to sell his Trollie case to Amrun. Matt summarizes in private and asks for Amrun's vote.
  • Amrun declines to decide, listens to case and says she wasn't fully caught up.
  • Amrun returns from VL/A and puts a vote on Trollie (I call this end of a wagon the 'designated bus seats')

I then asked why Amrun thought this mattered if she believed Trollie to be scum, because that would make Mattp pretty damn town. His read change as a result of her delay is VERY REASONABLE coming from town and makes quite a bit of sense if Matt were trying to narrow down Amrun's buddies.

Amrun agreed, Matt is town. There is no way this suggests otherwise.

So I'm a little baffled here - trying to reconcile with a town read? The real inconsistency is here,

Amrun: so i think i'll probably get lynched
Amrun: but maybe that's a good thing, idk

[...]

Nuwen: You just said you think it's suspicious that a bunch of people suddenly changed their reads on you, WHILE one of your scumreads has a healthy wagon - i.e. a counterwagon is brewing if he's scum, and YOU'RE it.
Nuwen: Your lynch would be a good thing if it freed up town votes to do other things
Nuwen: But in the matrix where you think Trollie is scum, you have to also think his buddies are the ones coming out of the woodwork on your wagon

Which, by Amrun's criterion... would be Nobody Special and Matt?

Nobody Special provided Amrun with information that somebody claimed something to him, around the time NS was voting for the Trollie. NS is currently voting for Amrun and has cut contact with her.

Like I said, this scumhunting is EXTREMELY INTERNALLY INCONSISTENT... like, it wouldn't lead you in the right direction in a million years if you're trying to figure out who scum are. That's both an indication of BEING scum or being a bad scumhunter. I asked Amrun to claim to me in private and she declined to answer, saying that she'd claim at L-1 if run up. I could lynch it.

My only trepidation here is... where's that counterwagon? We don't have two live scum and town offwagoners (the Greyice slot). We
do
have a shitton of people NOT VOTING AT ALL, but with scum teams supposedly unaware of each other this doesn't make much sense; scum wouldn't be blocing; there would be feelers everywhere.

TheTrollie, Espeonage, Mastermind of Sin, hitogoroshi, Nobody Special, DeathRowKitty

If we have two live scum, this sure is a lot of fucking offvoters. The only explanation for that would be 2 live from from DIFFERENT TEAMS (with each set of buddies waffling about... unsure how to start a mislynch), or that the teams have somehow communicated with each other without being caught by town (and are unwilling to vote in either direction). So there's that.

Lynch Trollie imo.

In post 726, Amrun wrote:Nuwen, how do you not understand that you weren't asking me about scumhunting? You were asking me about the thing I said and why I said it, which had very little to do with scumhunting. Whatever.

Right, that's what makes it internally inconsistent. You contacted Esurio and said

Amrun: like some of the people who all of a sudden came out with scumreads on me
Amrun: were like
Amrun: sharing confidences with me
Amrun: and shit
Amrun: it makes no sense to me

Of your own accord. If this isn't something you're using to scumhunt, why are you wasting someone time with it? Worth mentioning to someone else even though it's a null thing? I mean, what "makes no sense." In chat, I explained to you that Mattp's scum read makes VERY MUCH SENSE coming from a town player who believed he caught scum early (and used that to catch more scum).

This gets back to what I said about you being scum or just completely unaware of how to actually catch scum by anything other than luck.

In a game where signal:noise ratio is high,
why is it valuable to talk about the weird things a town read is doing
? Answers include "to segue into having a not-town read, later" or "poison dat" "I'm a big waste of your time!"

A town read doing things that "don't make sense" should take much lower priority than rooting out the friends of the scum you recently decided was scum. If what you told me is correct and true in your mind, these things happened:

1. Matt makes passionate Trollie case to Amrun, asks for her vote.
2. Amrun, citing VLA/not reading, declines to vote or make a decision on Trollie.
3. Amrun returns and votes for Staeg, but
4. Had made a deal with Matt, vote forced on to Trollie.

So you suddenly reconciled with the Trollie read, or at least allowed Matt to convince you enough to lend him your vote. Where's the new town perspective? Why are STRANGE STRANGE, DON'TMAKESENSE (read: utterly reasonable) things your town reads doing taking up the space in your brainmeat.

If I use the words internally inconsistent again my brain is going to explode.

Yes, Matt. MoS is scum. We're over here lynching the buddy he doesn't want to bus and it putting his neck on the line for. We assume Trollie pulled a PR if they're same-scum; if different scum, this means that MoS' hangouts are a filtering system and he's been trying to figure out the opposite scum team first.

Notes I sent to Nacho wrote:3a. MoS volunteered to host these hangouts. He is the observer and gatekeeper of facial cues and visual contact right now. I've played face-to-face mafia with MoS, and he's pretty good at it. He must have a shitton of information and reads right now... where are they?

A lot of people will soon realize 3a. I think the best way to proceed is to approach MoS and glean as MUCH info as possible from him and see how many reads he's willing to vomit. He should have a lot of raw material. Holding back raw material about specific players means he DID notice stuff, but isn't sharing with the class.

Calling him out right in-thread right now kinda ruins the whole "figure out who he's being reticent about/excusing" to nail the rest of the scum team. You have to think about the LONG team here and not split votes between two very, very strong scum candidates.

So let's lynch the one being thrown LIFE LINES FROM THE SKY HERE, TROLLIE.

So like

You have a town read on Trollie, have been using a town tone with Matt (while also calling his reads dumb, yet indulging his mindspeak and wordstuff), and
Amrun
is your pick for scum among these guys?

TheTrollie - {MattP, Nachomamma8, kdowns, Fate, Nuwen, DeasVail, Staeg, Amrun}

The Amrun scum read comes to full fruition after I gift a case to the thread?
SOUND OFF
, Trollie wagon: how many of you has MoS confronted in a way that suggests he's looking for scum on TheTrollie. Nacho, kdowns, Fate, Deas, Staeg?

Like I said, we gave a counterwagon to the thread and the thread bit hard.

Hito, we'll let you live for awhile in you make a video about how scum MoS is right meow.

Good job listing 5 people who have not made an effort to communicate with me (DeasVail came into the hangout and left, so we never got to talk to him) and Nacho (who I've barely had a chance to talk to). Why don't you ask the half of the thread I actually have had a chance to speak with if I'm scumhunting...LoL

Honestly you're so bad at this it's unbelievable.

The half of the thread isn't voting for Trollie, who MoS has defended on the back of a townslip.

When you figure out that someone has townslipped, first instinct should always be "now which scumfucks were voting this clown."

The other half of the thread isn't voting someone you've had a town read on since page 19. Is everyone voting TheTrollie as equally dumb and town as Matt? You'd think someone with those keeeeeen eyes would want to figure out which scum are taking advantage of the VI (MoS' words, not mine) wagon. But Mos is
waiting for that pool of people to come to him?

You haven't really thought about this one too much. Shame on you.

Fate-scum woke up and skipped down the sidewalk, thinking to himself "which mislynch can I

mislynch, according to MoS

AMRUN, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR THE GUY TRYING TO MISLYNCH YOU.

This is an attempt to dismantle the wagon via premise
, which takes
lower priority
to catching scum on his wagon if MoS is town. Instead, MoS is focused on people he has town reads on - he's not even disputing the town read on Fate,

In post 1105, Mastermind of Sin wrote:Fate is more interested in yelling about how I need to be lynched than actually engaging in a legitimate discussion about things that are happening in this game. Unfortunately, that particular bit is a nulltell because that is how Fate always acts. Hence my complete dismissal of his boring rhetoric. Fate believes that if he yells about something loud enough and long enough it becomes true, but that simply isn't the case.

In post 1105, Mastermind of Sin wrote:Thank you for proving my point, Nuwen. If you were paying attention you'll note that Fate hasn't been a scumread of mine, and thus was not treated as such.

I mean, thanks for proving MY point. There's 0 reason to be poisoning a town read who happens to be voting for you (unless you're scum, attacking competency of player -> attacking wagon :)), especially when you think scum are CRAWLING OUT OF THE WOODWORK.

MoS' only scum read isn't voting for him (coincidentally),

I'd like MoS to unlock his Amrun document for shared editing (copy it to a private doc if tampering is a fear etc.)

I specifically told Amrun to vote for MoS, Pie. You won't have to eat any hats.

FYI, I talked to MoS and asked for the google doc to be opened because when I read it this morning. I
knew
the document had been written in one sit-down session (years of tutoring/teaching; you can just tell this stuff from style and composition). I wanted the doc opened so we could see the revision history.

http://i.imgur.com/m5hMD.png
http://i.imgur.com/V8pky.png

I asked MoS,

Nuwen: Also curious, do you use Microsoft Word to keep your game notes? Or something else?
Jordan Hawker: no. I don't take game notes 95% of the yime
Nuwen: Did you have Amrun notes to work from, or did you write up that case on the spot? -- Easy question. ("easy question" said after MoS entered text, deleted text, entered text, etc.)
MoS: on the spot plus logs from me talking to other people

~~~
Fate thinks this is lynch-right-now-absolutely damning material and wants me to post it to the thread. I don't think this is appropriate case material because there are a bunch of possible explanations, but I'm inclined to believe MoS wrote up a retrospectual case on Amrun.
MoS says select people who have a town read on him (Reck, Pie) can verify that he's been calling Amrun scum for awhile. I have no doubt that he's been trying to rally mislynch material against easy-Amrun for awhile. But he didn't bother to commit to the case until AFTER her wagon started; no risk, and he's already "crumbed" his read to select players so it looks verifiable.
Read/case developed after the fact imo.
It was actually something entirely different that pinged me to Hitoscum. Before we set off to scumhaus, I asked Hito if he had prepared any questions or special observations for me in advance. I knew that he'd LOVE to use my eyes and ears for powertownFIST. When he just said "uh... questions, I guess" I knew he must be WAY too busy to think about the game (but not too busy to make videos...), or hadn't really thought of ways to get information via other town members (SCUM).
Hito:
reck and esurio town
, agree/disagree
Nuwen: Haven't talked to either of them in the slightest.
[....]
Hito: also! pie said in the hangout that he would have rather been scum than town this game
[...]
Nuwen: If I were to give you an opportunity to ask Reck or Esurio specific things through my body, what would you ask? Do you already have solid reads on Grim & Fate?
Hito: they were the ones in the hangout, Grimm I have absolutely nothing on so I can't think of any specifically good questions to ask. as for Fate eh, I'm just trustin you two to read eachother mostly ;P
When I pressured him for specific things to "look out for" at the scumhaus, he mentioned a couple things about Reck, Esurio, Pie but neglected Grim/Fate. This tipped me off that he hadn't put a lot of thought into the questions (expected townHito reactions include: "I didn't know you were going to scumhaus... lemme get back to you! ::laundrylist an hour later::" or "Yeah you mentioned you were going to scumhaus and I've already prepared some things I want you to keep an eye on, if you don't mind.")
I knew he was being
inconsistent
because he sheeped Mattp's minimalist IRL read on Trollie, but wasn't taking Fate's read as bible even though it was presented in a similar way. If he were concerned that Fate were disingenuous or scum, he would have given me specific things to ask/wonder while with Fate in/out of a group setting.
But sure, we'll go with that. I'll be trickling my private convos with Hito into the thread bit by bit. These are snippets from the earliest and most important conversation: THE TELL.
And people are saying he can't possibly be NY scum? Are you people retarded?
Why?
Because Hito focused on casing Kdowns d1 with Amrun/MoS available? You'll notice Hito had every opportunity to contribute to meaningful (mis)lynches - instead, his vote remained in a one-off, non-threatening place. Pointing out the weaknesses in his buddies' behavior is how Hito plays scum because he believes scum-hunting is a universal thing; scummy is scummy is scummy, and it's better to lampshade scummy things buddies do than try to ignore them. Hito's vote was never a THREAT to kdowns life and could easily be an artificial piece of distance.
Because kdowns hammered Hito? Was there any doubt that Hito would be lynched yesterday? No.
I'm assuming there will be no NK tonight even if there are NY mafia left.
1. One or two NY mafia remaining (all goons + cop - numbers are a balancing mechanism) -> MUST focus on recruiting, because presumably powers are concentrated among the Sicillians -> recruitment attempt tonight
OR
2. No NY Mafia left. No kill tonight.
Eh, that was supposed to be a PM but I don't think this hurts anything even in worse case apocalypse. At work -> gym -> GW2 but I'll be checking in periodically from work.
Dead & scum qts?
Majority of my play was outside the thread. Kept pretty good logs of everything (aim, Pms, Skype) if anyone wants a specific combo published.
The only two scum candidates (in my mind) were the Greyice/BBM slot and Grim/Elmo. I asked both of them to claim to me and forwarded along the responses I received. Both claimed VT (sorta - Elmo's claim didn't come from him directly and Elmo himself resisted, which was a town-just-got-into-this-game-wtf-is-going-on tell). I responded by asking something like "then explain what you did last night." Elmo was flippant. BBM said "nothing" and followed that thought up with a separate PM,
So yeah. Pretty obv scum there.
I was also waffling on the gunsmith a lot. There were a ton of situations where I could read DRK's motivation and explain his actions from a scum perspective, but he also did a couple things that were exclusively town. For awhile I felt like he slipped by claiming "Sicillians investigate w/guns" for some pretty complicated reasons.
Didn't sound like you were anything gamebreaking, and killing you would be an obvious move from Scum-Me.
Wait are you kidding
A lot of vocal people in this game wanted MoS' head until he claimed a confirmable role.
There were two shots N1, after MoS requests his stay of execution.
Suddenly no one wants to lynch MoS.
1+1=?????
If town lost their vig and were left with lots of fodder, the scum team
might
have had a chance to beat the imbalanced setup and survive long enough to control the game. I do like that the recruitment mechanic was spurious, but I think SCUM should have known how many Sicillians they were attempting to find in such a town-sided setup.
