Sauron has three forces. These are the ‘scum’.
There exists the ‘One Ring’. This is an item that functions as a (sane) Cop investigation. It can be destroyed by the owner by PMing me ‘I destroy the One Ring’ at any time during the day; that may not apply to all roles. It can be transferred by giving it away during the day or through hammering and killing the current owner.

Three Win Conditions:
You win if all the forces of Sauron are destroyed and you have the one ring.
You win if all the forces of Sauron are destroyed and the one ring is destroyed.
You win if the forces of Sauron are the only survivors or nothing can prevent the same.
All three win conditions are mutually exclusive as if the first win condition is fulfilled the ring leaves the game unable to ever be destroyed.

It may have been fate that had bought you all together is thing weird ghost town. In many cases you had thought that you were alone in this place where you took shelter. It was a misconception that left ask you woke up and went to bask in the sunshine along with fourteen other individuals. You recognised several as friends and several as enemies. You readied your weapons as Easterling arrows flew from the sky. In the confusion the street was quickly emptied as the arrows continued to barrage down. Thus it came to be that fifteen buildings had fifteen people in and no real way of seeing who was who unless one was willing to risk the Easterlings. It was obvious that you had to kill the Ringwraiths; it was less obvious how.

Monkeyman576 was riding around the outskirts of the town; on the look out to see if anyone tried to escape. It was known to Monkeyman576 that the ring lurked in the middle of the ghost town and it was not the intention of the Ringwraiths to allow it - or the enemies of Sauron - to escape their clutches. To some degree Monkeyman576 did an enviable job, for indeed none did escape. In another, possibly larger way, he made a great mistake. For while Monkeyman576 has been riding around the town, the stables that Monkeyman576 has made his own has been trapped.

Ah, here comes Monkeyman576 now, just before night falls. Riding into the stables the floor falls in and the Ringwraiths lay in a net below a horse. The forces of good have scored an early victory.

Monkeyman576 was an unnamed Ringwraith, Goon, one of the Forces of Sauron. Night One begins now and ends in three days.

My thoughts on the set up is that the notion which it was built around (the four win factions, including three variants on town) was much more something than I'd really considered when designing this game. One situation that I'd only really thought of recently was the goodmorning - zMuffinMan - known scum TwinFlames situation, which is sort of like having to decide who will get an ice cream knowing that in ten days it'll be destroyed, where there's probably a correct and obvious strategy that is nonetheless non-satisfactory. The seed is even more damaged by the set up making strategy of having the third parties being more effective (night role actions) at hurting the scum than town's. I don't think any team begin the game with unspeakable odds at winning, it is just that a negative set up rapidly swung those odds out of joint not based on conscious intention or bad play.

After the defective seed, there are the problems of implementation. Firstly, Gollum's lynch immunity (with the ring) became too strong when it was complemented by how obvious it was who would be the ringholder at the end of the night - (I do think that after zMuffinMan lost the ring the first time that active ringstealing is more intuitively likely than goodmorning gets the ring back every night) - and (I expect) goodmorning's feeling of safety from the kill. The second problem of implementation that could have gone a way to reducing that is the steep disparity between Boromir and Denethor II, which was (due to the BFF (Best Friends despite not being town (Forever) nature that was unknown to them) by making Denethor a back up vig could have had the consequences of making nights less predictable thus neutering Gollum.

I think all sides played well, and I hope everyone had fun playing.

In addition, when you do not have the one ring you may target a player at night to learn if they have the one ring and you will take it if you get a positive result. This action takes place after kills have been resolved.

You win if all the forces of Sauron are destroyed and you have the one ring.

You are Aragon, the rightful king of Gondor. For this game your main importance comes from your role as a Ranger. Each night you may target a player and if they were poisoned or were to be poisoned you shall cure it or prevent it respectively. Like most roles you are unable to target yourself.

You are Gandalf the Grey, or as some would call you the: The Protector of Middle-Earth. At least I hope that some would call you that since you’re a Doctor. Each night you may target a player and attempt to protect them from being slain by attack.

You are Faramir, you are a well-respected member of the Gondor army. Each night you may target a player and detect if your target is a resident of Gondor.

So town could only get the ring if the TP-Vig/Mafia "killed" Gollum the first night, Gollum got it wrong on the recall and died the next night (or guessed wrong) and then the other-scum was rung up the next day? As others said, way too OP. Did this get reviewed?

There are many more ways for town to get the ring. They could lynch Gollum and hope Gollum gets killed/made the wrong gamble on if the ringbearer would get killed. It seems silly to act like town couldn't have won; they knew they had to get the ring to win, and on Day Six they knew goodmorning had it, yet at no point did town have the ring for even a second yet if they did get the ring from goodmorning they quite possibly could have won (by Day Seven, they were dependent on scum, but that's the nature of multi-faction games; it's like the leashed serial killer dependent on town and scum for a shot at victory).

Yes, if Gollum played the night-game perfectly, and avoided the possibility of being nightkilled then town would lose without feeling they deserved to, and that's a definite problem. However, I think people acting like there was no other possibility but a third party win are werongheaded and are just looking at how the game played out this time; yes, once the Mafia lost two of their members in the first three days and was then Cop investigated the Mafia didn't stand much of a chance; yes, once the town decided to allow third party to be their hammer voter, they didn't stand much of a chance. However, none of those things had to happen. The set up definitely had flaws, but it being preordained that the third party would win is not one of those.

That's absurd wrangle for a town win-con, scum would do what they did this game and leave them in the game everytime because they'll just push for an easy lynch. She does not know who will have it at the end of the night. The rest of your post, I think, stems from that error.
