ToastyToasts Mafia RuleSet (Modeled after Charon's Battle For Olympus)

ONE: FUNDAMENTALS

I) All site-wide rules apply. Read and respect them.
II) There is no personal communication outside the forum postings (regarding this game) unless your role specifically allows it.
III) Do not quote your Role PM or any private communication (either real or fabricated) with the moderator, co-moderator, backup-moderator, or fellow players. Paraphrasing your Role PM is acceptable.
IV) Be courteous and respectful to all your fellow players and the moderating team.
V) Play to your Win Condition.

TWO: DAY PHASE (DP)

I) Each DP shall have a two week deadline.
II)

Votes must be bolded or they shall not be counted.

Abbreviating someone's name is acceptable, so long as I can discern who you were voting for without trouble.
III)

Unvoting is not required but its really annoying when ppl don't do it so..

IV) Once you have reached a simple majority (half of all living players plus one) that person's fate is sealed and they shall be lynched. Unvoting cannot change their fate.
V)If half the living players approve a No Lynch (

Vote: No Lynch

), then no player shall be lynched and the game shall enter Night Phase. If deadline is reached and no one has received a simple majority of the votes, no one shall be lynched.
VI) Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I arrive and post a death scene. All players may continue to post during Twilight.
VII) If you have failed to post for over 48 hours, I will send you a prod. Failure to respond to this prod within 48 hours will result in the replacement of that player. Force-replacing of flakers/rule-breakers will be occur at my discretion.
VIII) A deadline extension may be granted; just ask.
IX) Votes and Unvotes shall not count in Twilight.

THREE: NIGHT PHASE (NP)

I) NP shall last three days,

or if all players give me the ok to open the thread.

II) All groups with Quicktopics (QTs) will be able to converse during the NP.
III) Any role or faction with night abilities may choose to use them by PM-ing the mod with their choice.
IV) If no action is received, no action will be taken. All actions received after the deadline has passed will not be valid.
V) Night Action submissions will be accepted starting in the Twilight Phase.

FOUR: CAPITAL OFFENSES

I) Do not quote your Role PM or any private communication (either real or fabricated) with the moderator, co-moderator, or backup-moderator. Paraphrasing your Role PM is acceptable.

Gunshots awakened you all from your slumber. The Barksdale's were a stealthy bunch, and never before had the police manage to discover the full extent of their power. But it seems that now the police are always watching. You can't even talk on the phone and expect privacy anymore. So, people panic. People like Little Man. Family comes first, and Little Man was just a pawn. If his death protected the gang, then so be it.

Faraday, Little Man, Vanilla Townie, was murdered by his own gang in Pregame!

Turns out Little Man wasn't working with the police, but some think the death was worth the risk. But Little Man wasn't the only one who had to go. William Gant was an everyday man who nearly revealed the entire gang. And for that reason, he and any other witness was dangerous. Not many people defy the Barksdale's, so all will respect him in death. It was his own fault for doing the right thing. Not here--Not in Baltimore.

So, William Gant became examples to all. Threaten the gang, and fall victim to it. The police are certainly onto you know, and its up to the gang to figure out where they are hiding. They have likely taken on the identities of your friends. They work under cover--using your own friendships against you. Will you be able to make them pay?

Salamence20 was shocked and outrage at this suspicion. He didn't care. They might as well kill him now, because as far as he was concerned, if they thought their own leader was a cop, then the end of the gang started long ago.

His friends and family circled around him. PeregrineV threw the first punch. He thought that would be it, but the beating continued. Soon, Salamence20 was on the ground. The punches stopped. Muki walked over to the barely breathing man. With one last glance, Muki savagely kicked Salamence20 in the face, snapping his neck in the process.

vezokpiraka was loyal to his gang. He would gladly die for Avon. But with Avon dead, he started behaving erratically. The loss of their leader had created chaos. There was a large hole in place of the Barksdale's soul. He felt it was necessary to keep the gang strong. To step up where his boss could no longer be.

But this made enemies. People were suspicious of his role. He still rushed to the protection of his gang members, fighting battles to ensure the higher ups would stay safe. But, something about him had...changed. Maybe it wasn't Wee Bey at all.

The last strike was his fish. So focused on the gang, he was slacking when it came to taking care of them. That is something the whole gang knew Wee-Bey would never do.

So they drowned him in a fish tank.

Sharpest-knife-on-tree had gotten quiet. With all the suspicion getting thrown their way, one may say they had to be. But the side glances and shifty eyes were noticed, and people began to uncover their secrets. SKOT had been manipulating them. And it was time for it to stop. She swore she was being truthful, but they wouldn't listen. Soon enough, they began to see her in places she shouldn't be. Including the police station.

Today, while she was walking home with a bunch of incriminating papers in hand, they caught her. She was immediately frightened, and ran. This only confirmed their suspicions. As she ran one of the gang members shot her right in the back.

Sharpest-knife-on-tree, Rhonda Pearlman, Baltimore Police-Alligned (Mafia) Redirector, failed to flee and was shot in the back Day 4!

Having taken down SKOT successfully, the gang turned in for the night happily. But they were still scared. Chances were that one of them would not be there to help in the morning.

Some ReallySexyDudes were having trouble sleeping. All this fighting within their gang was getting stressful. So they called their girlfriend up so they could...de-stress. But, feeling more relaxed than usual, the ReallySexyDudes forgot their phones were probably being listened to.

Some see Slandaar as a superhero. Others see him as a protector. On the other hand, his enemies would do anything to kill him. Even those who agreed with his ways recognized his self-interested ways. To the police he was a necessary evil.

Regarless of what one thought of him, he was a part of the game. He was a product of his environment, yet somehow not fully entrenched in the War on Drugs.

But when his boyfriend Brandon was murdered, Slandaar wanted revenge. By playing side against side, vezokpiraka and Dr Pants met untimely ends. Gang and police both fell as Slandaar operated within the script given to him. At that point, Anatole Kuragin didn't stand a chance. Afraid yet accepting of his fate, Anatole waited. He was taken out of the game. Slandaar, too, would walk away from it. If only for a while.

A lynch has been reached!

For ActionDan, the drug war brought nothing but stressed. Stress that someone might think you had direct involvement in the drug trade, stress that you may wake up to find your lover dead or arrested, stress that you yourself could be caught in the crossfire at anytime. Action Dan just wanted a way out. He had loans to pay off and a life to start living. And he needed to get as far away from the game as possible. Unfortunately, the strip club Action Dan worked at was just too associated with the drug trade, and it became obvious to him that he would pay for it. Eventually.

The police had tried on occasion to make ActionDan inform on his friends, using the death of a co-worker to grab her attention. But he was torn, and just wanted to keep her lover, D'Angelo, safe. But when he died, there was no one left to protect him. People started to doubt her commitment to the gang, and so they confirmed ActionDan's fears.

After Avon was taken down, mastin2 tried to fill the void. After all, he was second in command. Despite heavy losses, he persevered. My Thoughts

This game opened with a lot of interesting plays. There were two gambits straight away, and even though they both flopped (no thanks to me). I find Salamance's interesting, because I believe he did think he was town originally, but decided to play it off as intentional. Also, was the switching of colors really that confusing. Ya'all are supposed to read your PM's, not go off of color cue's! Additionally, Salamance did seem to suspect BooKitty from the gambit reaction, and made people promise him that BooKitty would get lynched.

But that promise was never kept, and became a major theme in the game. Note that zMuffinMan was a counter-wagon for nearly every lynch that took place, but no one ever really saw that suspicious. Town lynch after town lynch, zMuffinMan made it closer and closer to the end. I thought his luck would end by day 5 at the most. So I'm trying to think of why exactly it happened--because despite Muffin playing a great game, someone in his position surviving to endgame is really rare. I think there were a few reasons for this:

1) The "it's too obvious" suspicion. zMuffinMan (at least viewing from the outside) was VERY scummy. He was emotionally manipulative, but made it work for him because he did a great job of playing off of other people (namely, BBmolla and mastin2). Oftentimes when the town fails to catch scum, they doubt their original reads rather than look to the "second best" options the day beforehand. I think this doubt is natural, but it played a HUGE role in this game. It is sort of like hiding something in plain sight. No one suspects to have someone hiding on top of something--they all expect it to be disguised. In this way, zMuffinMan transparency worked like a charm.

2) The town defaulting to mastin2 for leadership. Now, this isn't meant to grill mastin2, as every town player did things that could have been avoided here. It seemed like everyone would just sheep what mastin2 said eventually rather than actively standing up against their opinons. This is bad in ANY town because argumentation does need to take place. And this game didn't have all that much. There was questioning and disagreement, sure, but no one really thought that "gee, maybe mastin2's reads/theory is incorrect. Maybe we should try something different." This is the reason why I hate process of elimination in mafia games. It almost never works, because scum can sneak into a group of "obvtownies" and control the game almost as soon as they gained this status. Xisiqomelir's great claim gave him this position, and even though people thought about going after him, they never really brought it to the forefront.

3) Believe it or not, I think lynching SKOT was probably the worst scum-lynch the town could have gotten. Between zMuffinMan's hard pushing and SKOT's overall relationships with other people in the game, town may have begun to overthink lynches after this point. xisiqomelir, zMuffinMan, SKOT as scum together never really made sense. No one ever really looked into how they associated with one another in the group. Now, if Muffin had gotten lynched in place of SKOT, then SKOT would likely still be lynched one or two days later because of his getting caught targetting Dr Pants. After this point, muffin gained a lot of towncred while xisiqomelir was able to slip even further UTR.

4) TRYING TO BREAK THE GAME. Okay, despite my many failures as a mod this game, I do think I made a decent setup. I wanted to make the game difficult for players who knew the show to connect the dots on what I may have done. So, I loaded the game with female characters and gave them power (one of the main criticism's of the Wire is a lack of good female heroes, with the exception of Griggs). I gave some people roles that may have been a stretch. I gave minor characters a role to play, rather than just make the game just about people who are in the spotlight. The scumteam, too, would be an unexpected group (seriously, even I wonder why I picked Rhonda and Herc--but I liked the idea). This one is probably the most minor of points, but I do think it played a role, ESPECIALLY in the lynch of vezokpiraka (which made 0 sense to me).

So Those are the main reasons I think scum won this game, apart from their skill. The team worked very well together despite how much pressure was on them early. I remember thinking that DGB was their only hope for a win after day1, and then I fucked that up but they made it work. Great game, everyone.
