@bulbazoor: Yes, mastin is town. We will be more transparently town as the game goes on, I have no fear. Town has been losing a lot of games recently, but not this one. My opening post to mastin was essentially our language for "Hello!". Actually, it said a bit more than that. RVS reads are simultaneously everything and nothing. I've had games where conflicting thoughts in my head after hours of work to develop reads are resolved by looking over the first 3 pages of a game and making a judgement call off of RVS posts. RVS is the most interesting part of the game. Everyone is coming in with just their alignment and some possibly preconceived ideas about the playerlist. In the seaming chaos of it all lurks some naked motivation and when you see it, sometimes its the most unshakeable read you can ever get.

mastin and I have a tendency to read between the lines and sometimes base reads on things that often words don't exist to explain. Sometimes the ridiculousness of our entry is enough to just knock everyone slightly off balance and collect feedback of this manner. Generating some real readable emotions when there weren't before. My post was to parody that. Homage, parody, self-fulfill as previously described. That and reference L4D2 mafia subtly and see if mastin is going to pick up in it or if she's got too many preconceived motives coming into the game to do so.

@mastin: The moment when that read happens that makes sense but paradoxically can't be explained? Sometimes I live for when we've shared those moments. Gears of War had us so on point and scarilyso, that we got taken out N1 by both teams. I know you haven't forgotten! And you certainly are capable of that and more!

Its the biggest irony of life, but you really DO need clarity, calm, and confidence to improve yourself and succeed. Its nice to feel those things after you do, but its in your control to focus and get a handle on that. If you ever want to talk mastin, don't be a stranger. Talking to you seriously helped me through a really hard part of my life a while back. Its been hard for the last few years. Despite feeling like life was sinking into a haze that I couldn't get out of...I kinda did a few months back. I just want you to know that you are amazing and I think it'll get easier.

Hey guys! I read up on this thread while I was on the train. Some thoughts have come to me and I'm going to try and organize them well now.

Drixx/ZZZ, and mastin are my top townreads. Mastin has practically claimed town already. There is a slim chance she would engage in some of the emotional posting she already has if she were scum and I doubt she could keep it up for long if she were. Drixx is town for the softclaim, plain and simple. ZZZX has also contributed to that read, but not as much.

I consider myself an expert at reading Peregrine, buuuut. I'm not sure yet. His entry looked pretty par for the town course as Mastin pointed out, but I was a little meh about his follow up so far. 159[/[post] in particular made me a bit edgy, although PV is a townlean for me overall. Maxwell's push on PV and entry in general looked rather uninhibited. I like that he has strong opinions on the matter already at least.

Oversoul has hit some town notes already, his stance on mastin being a big one. The backandforth with BlueBlur also looks like a fairly honest attempt to read them, and it doesn't come off forced.

@mastin [post]141: Actually I typed out how Triforce felt really different to me here, then I realized I was thinking about Kaboose from that game in my head. Still, I'm not sold on Triforce being scum here. Everything from Triforce makes sense to me so far. The reachout to mastin looked town, the analysis of why someone else was voting him looked unafraid, and the decision to unvote how he did stuck out in a way mafia -probably- wouldn't do. I will say though....

My read on mastin is ~kind of~ meta in that I know her fairly well. There is no explicit marker that I'm looking for in her towngame, but sometimes I just know it when I see it. Invisible Inc is the best recent example of mastin obvtowning in the first few pages of a game and me having no doubts about my read on it. Elusive's reaction to PV looked weird to me. She goes on a tangent about how RQS is considered scummy in mafiascum....the only person who called Atum out on it was PV. No one else really seemed to care much about the questions either way. Plot answered but was extremely confused and asked for a followup. Someone said they liked the question. Basically, Elusive pseudo-whiteknighting Atum over one person (PV) calling the RQS scummy was a bit unwarranted.

FTR, I tend to dislike RQS but its not scummy on its own. My main issue with it is that its not really anything. Usually RQS at least attempts to be relevant. (What is your fav alignment, how much mafia experience do you have?, ...) but I don't really fault PV for thinking this one was particularly irrelevant.

I misinterpret that as him townreading bulbazoor when he isn't and ask him to show me what hes seeing since it looks like hes reading Bulbazoor on meta. Persivul, instead of clarifying that he is NOT reading Bulb on meta, just making an off-hand comment about liking activity from him, links me to a town game and implies that the game should show some indication that Bulb is town here. Otherwise, why link the game? I didn't demand it, I said "if you think it'll convince me". Apparently Persivul isn't convinced himself and should have brought that up rather than being poor at communicating his thoughts then discrediting me afterwards.

She clearly dislikes your lack of explanation around your elusive read. Why are you townreading her so? TTH suspects that her abrasive nature might be getting her townread from you (and in general). I too find it annoying when people point to a particular neutral thing that people do as either alignment and call them town for it. I'm not actually feeling as great about Plot as I could be. Going to move them closer to null.

My KC read over the last few pages has been somewhat like riding a merry-go-round. Very mixed opinions about a lot of her posts. 658 is pretty honest. That doesn't make it not-scum. Its something I could see myself posting, superficially so as either alignment. Might want some time to reread that post a few times and see if it makes an impression on me one way or another. Then there is other stuff like my head telling me that she feels different than she did in that one NY game and her self-auditing looking maybe town. Reads list was probably hilariously off base, but eh. I really should have a better read after all this, but I do not.

Elusive is becoming more and more hilariously town as this game goes on. Minor doubts there right now, but some of her posts are just really screaming town. I certainly don't think S-elusive / T-kc is possible right now.

TriforceP's post that Maxwell was waffly about actually looks rather town to me. The whole mindset and trying to improve the gamestate without any subconscious need to tie himself to the 'town' specifically looks pretty good.

PV still looks good and I like that he isn't forcing any reads through. Lack of busywork from him that I associate with his scumgame. His null read on me makes a fair amount of sense.

BlueBlur- I appreciate the reachout from Sally with the vote on Gratuitous; UNVOTE: Klingon; VOTE: Gratuitous....for now. Otherwise pretty conflicted on their slot. I don't get the push on PV when there is a slew of lurkers here. I don't think lack of content from PV is really that notably bad here like they are saying.

Prolapsed- No idea. ISO not giving me anything.

Banana- Basically whatever Plot's criticism of herself was. She is posting a lot of IIoA and then making offhand comments about reads going up or down. Its not particularly easy to track the progression of thought because it all kind of exists in a vacuum just fine. I sort of expect more from them. Also this was easily the worst post in the game despite appearing relatively innocuous:

I'm aware of playstyle differences across games and control of it. I think my scum/town posts are night and day when I read it. I -do- play superficially different in every game depending on a lot of factors outside of my alignment though and KC's post about that is genuine. Not town, but genuine. I could check out the game in question, but I doubt it would give me too much of an opinion. I'd have to devote a fair amount of time to it and also skim over the NY game I played with her before.

1126 @Plot: Flubber is town for being vested and transparently active. His attitude just screams town. Thats pretty much all I got, but I'm extremely certain of this one. I've seen him as both alignments recently and I'm not about to dissect meta, but this is town.

I barely have experience with Grib. I was a Serial Killer (and won!) in a game where he as a town cop. He was kind of passive in that game and seemed to be playing to his cop PM pretty standardly. My read on him is not based on meta at all. I just think his entire presence is someone slipping by and posting enough content/opinions to look like hes doing things. The whiteknight on Elusive was a bit too certain at that point in the game and I find his black/white stances to be highly reminiscent of my scumgame.

The Rules
Day start.

No Out of Game Communication.

PT and QT content cannot be quoted. Paraphrase is acceptable.

Any PM from the Mod Cannot Be Quoted. Period. Violations of this Rule will be harshly dealt with.

Anything ambiguous will be handled by whatever the mod(s) thinks you mean.

Any random actions will be resolved by the mod using dice tags in the mods PT. The first player in the random order list will be 1 on the dice.

Any action that is not submitted will be a no action. A compulsive action that is not submitted will be performed at random, without regards to their alignment.

Play nice with others, but not too nice. This is mafia. If it attacks the person or berates them, that's not allowed. If it says the player is sucking, that's fine.

Site Rules Apply.

The game cannot be broken by flavor, as all role PMs are flavorless.

Votes must be bolded. Vote Tags or Color are strongly preferred. If I miss it, it doesn't count until I see it.

Unvotes are not required, but extremely helpful.

Days last the number of players alive plus 1. Yet, they last a minimum of 5 days. Example, Day 1 is 22 days long. If only 3 players are alive, the day lasts 5 days.

Nights are 72 hours long but can be shortened if EVERY player agrees, even the ones without night actions.

Scum can kill and use their night ability.

Scum may or may not have daychat, depending on whether or not an encryptor is in the game.

The universe of roles is outlined in the Setup Wiki. If you are uncertain about something, ask.

Deadlines may be extended to accommodate holidays, work events or replacements. This is sole discretion of the mod. No player has a role that can extend or shorten deadlines.

Prods go out if you have not posted for 48 game hours.

Watch your PMs at the start and end of the day.

All night actions may be sent to the mod early (even during the day).

If you are going to be VLA more than a week, strongly consider subbing out.

All setup questions should be asked by PM.

Questions posted in the thread will be ignored.

If Multiple People ask the same question, I may post the answer in thread at my discretion. It will be rephrased so no one can tell who asked it.
