Caffwagon 2010 in North New Jersey (Aug 12 - Aug 18)

So, at first, I was going to host a meet because I thought I'd be living in an apartment or house off-campus in the Fall. Turns out... yeah, I'm not.

Then Ythan was going to host it instead since he goes to the same college that I'm about to transfer to, and... then he ended up not having the spare room/house like he thought he would.

So now I come to you, MafiaScum community, to organize and find someone to host a meet for us East Coasters. I spoke with Ether, and she said there's a slim (to none) chance her parents would allow her to host a meet at her house one week while they're out of town, but that it's not TOO likely so I should come to the General Discussion board and see who else on the East Coast would want to host a meet.

I'm willing to drive pretty much anywhere from Jersey down to Florida. I'm sure there are others who'd be interested depending on when it happens and where it happens. Also, if it can't happen by the end of summer (which it likely won't due to the timing of this), then we can figure out when most people can come and plan it for the early fall sometime.

Though I'd prefer for it to be in August/late summer.

Thanks to Ether's awesome parents, we'll all be heading up there for some games, fun, mafia, etc. She'll be giving out more specific directions to the attendees as we get closer to the date of the meet. Just safely assume if you can get to NYC, you'll be close to her house. Anyway... first, a few ground rules for the meet.

Caffwagon 2010 Rules (from Ether!):

I move into my dorm on the 14th, but classes don't start until the 18th. I suppose I could drive up with Ythan after I'm moved in on the 14th, then drive back on the 17th, but that's quite a long drive for just a couple of days.

Is there not a later date possible at all? Even if it's more branching into the fall and not the Summer? The weekend of the 14th is LITERALLY the only time I couldn't do it - any weekend after that, I could come Thurs through Tues.

I only have one class on Wednesdays and am tempted to e-mail the professor and tell them that I'll definitely be in the class, but I won't be able to make it the first day so that we can drive back Wednesday.

That puts our schedule like:
~8/14, 1:00PM - Leave Wilmington
~8/14, 11:00PM - Arrive at Ether's
~8/18, 1:00PM - Leave Ether's
~8/18, 11:00PM - Arrive back at Wilmington

PS: Gas is going to be about 90 bucks each way on the trip. So Ythan and I will each be paying 90 each it seems, unless there's someone else between NC & NJ who wants to carpool and have us pick them up.

If you want cheap and easy, go for a fire pit or grill and grill burgers/hot dogs. Pretty simple and cost-effective. Everyone could pitch in for sandwich supplies for lunch, and breakfast could be eggs, toast, cereal, etc.

So apparently it's reasonably cheap to take greyhound there (assuming it's close to NYC, which is the fare I checked because it was mentioned somewhere). Also, the fact that it's close enough to the time my classes start for the fall to justify telling my summer job that I'm leaving makes it quite simple to get the free time I need. At this point I'm going to put myself at about 80% chance of showing up. Hopefully that turns into 100% within the next few days. It's also possible, though I'm not sure how likely, that I can convince magnus_orion to show up.

Finally, a meet that actually works based on timing AND location.

Things I need to know:

1. Which greyhound station specifically should I arrive at, and what time would be good to show up there (my assumption atm is that I'm showing up on the 13th and leaving the 17th)?

2. How should I get from the station to the meet and from the meet to the station when I leave?

Things I will be bringing assuming I go:

1. Star Munchkin and Super Munchkin
2. MtG stuff in case other scummers who play are there/bring stuff to play with/trade
3. Anything else I notice that other people want brought that I have laying around.

No, I work for a company out of Atlanta that facilitates press/promo screenings nationwide. I'm one of five facilitators for the Raleigh/Durham area. We're paid $50 per screening if it's in the area; $65 per screening if it's outside of the city. On some rare occasions, when we have to be at the theater super early to set-up or greet the stunters or something, we're reimbursed for dinner, too
