Hello there,

I'm Otolia, newbie who isn't really one as I play on a regular basis the french version of Werewolves IRL. So I know a lot about the basic situations and the argumentation, however I think I still need to work on my stances because the pace of the game is different in a forum game. I would like to mod as soon as possible since I do so IRL. Thus if someone could show me explain me how it works here/to whom should I submit setups/who can give me the basic of modding in forums that would be ultra super great !

Obviously I'm french though I speak/write english and german very fluently. I guess the language shouldn't be a problem, but sometimes it's very likely that I would use a french grammatic construction (example : using 'you' instead of 'one')

Corrected it for the sake of appreciating the nice welcome. Racailleurs isn't a word actually, but since french love neologism, it's perfectly fine. Though I would use 'racailloux' myself because it the invented plural of a pokemon's name.

Hey, I'm just happy I could make semi-coherent sentences since my French has gotten so rusty over the years. I had to look up the French word for "scum"..

Though I really dig "racailloux" as a word.. It sounds like a long-lost Hergé character.

Yeah, the Newbie games are the way to go. Not because they are any easier, but we've found that the game we call mafia can be drastically different from other variants that appear on different forums. But we've been around for 10+ years so understand that we've developed our own distinct style. And our own "site meta", of course.

The queue system we use might be a little confusing at first. But you'll get the hand quickly. From the main page, open the Queue forum, then open the stickied "Newbie Game Queue (Players and Mods)" topic. All you have to do is reply "/in" to be put in line for the next game. singersigner will take over from there. In a day or two (or three), you should get a PM from the moderator assigned to your game. Just follow their directions and you'll be on your way. Also, read the opening post of that "Newbie Game Queue" topic, lots of good information that should help you acclimatize.

Once you get through your first game or two and feel comfortable with the style of mafia here, feel free to check out the other games (open, mini normal, mini theme, large normal, large theme, marathon (only at special times), and even special games (rarer, but fun).

Anyway, I'm RandomYoshi. I live in Sweden and my native language is Swedish, so if I fuck something up with the English language, don't be surprised (though I think I am fairly good with my English, anyway). I am 19 years old. My main interests are playing video-games, Mafia (of course!), solving Rubrik's Cubes, and reading books. I go to a University where I study mathematics, which I will probably be doing for 4 more years or something like that.

A friend of mine told us about mafia for the first time back in 1992 or so. Later it became our favourite "party game".
Over the years we've reached a quite balanced yet funny setup with rules which had been inevitably different from the Internet rules. If you're interested in them I might explain.

Oh, I meant IRL. I was wondering if RL games start as sort of a university-style club or just organically in a group of friends as an actual party game.

Korts was our previous Hungarian, but he announced he needed to take some time off. So I guess you're our new resident Hungarian.

Your 7p setup sounds pretty interesting and could definitely be run on this site.

Since all the roles are revealed ahead of time, you could submit it to the Open Setup Review thread and if it's balanced it could be added to the Open Game Queue. Or you could run it in the Micro Queue, which features nothing but under 9 player games.

We do have a waiting queue to be able to run games, and that's primarily to ensure that those moderating games are established on-site and won't site-flake in the middle of a game. So stick around and play some games or you could ask someone more established to run it if you want.
