It won't be the last one in The Commune, though, fyi. TriForce/PolyHaus/whatever is up for hosting another meet during the summer time, but probably not til 2015 since 2014 will only be 6 months after this one, haha.
People that were at balto need to go to this shizz.
Also promise me I can do karaoke with you beautiful people again.
So half of the people at Baltomeet live in NC, lol.
Also, no way am I missing karaoke this time. I've been wanting to go since I moved here. >_>
Also, as far as sleeping arrangements go, we'll have more or less three empty rooms for sleeping space, two pull-out couches, two other couches, two air-mattresses, a sleeping bag, and plenty of extra pillows/blankets (basically for any foreigners who want to come and not worry about bringing their own shit). Plus we can set up tents in the back yard like we did at Scummer of Love.

SINGER. We better start planning out how many people can sleep in how many places.
You fit however many you think can fit in your place and we'll fit the rest (plus Fate/Nuwen/Gamma if they're willing/available for space)? I dunno. I think the biggest thing to work out is who's going to be shuttling people back and forth between the places since we all have jobs to work around.

We also think it's pretty reasonable to all cuddle in the same bed together for the duration of the meet so that a couple people can share one of our beds (+2), and by that point, we'll probably have an entire extra room free for sleeping space with the two air mattresses and sleeping bag we have (+4).

I've been considering taking an entire week off after the holiday season due to still recovering from a stress fracture and continually relapsing...I might just do that this week if I can be confident I wouldn't just be over-exerting it in other ways. >_>

Not planning in policing it or anything, but I'd like/expect people to be courteous enough to offer the couches and beds after they've already had a chance to sleep there.
Of course, everybody's sleep schedules will be all over the place anyway, soooo....
thanks
here is the dealio. I have lupus and I am also ever so slightly older than most of you. sleeping on a floor is not an option for me since it will likely leave bruises (I bruise ridiculously easy) and leave me in agony the next day. I can bring an air mattress if there is room (plz say yes) or ask any of my raleigh friends if I can stay at their house, stay at a hotel or worse case scenario drive back and forth from home. I would just prefer to have things planned out.
I guarantee there will be plenty "soft spots" are our place for people to rotate between, and will have cushion-y enough padding on the floor that people won't complain about taking it if you're already on the beds/couches. And to echo Glork, lots of people are on various sleep schedules during these meets, so it's very likely that it won't matter a whole lot anyway.

I miiight have a friend who's willing to shelter ours for a week, but since we have four, I don't want to ask unless it's a determining factor in someone's attendance.

I still stand by willingness to put up tents in the backyard. With enough blankets/sleeping bags/insulated night clothes, anyone can handle 30 degree weather for a night!

At Scummer of Love we had about this many people and it only turned out to be $25 per person for the week, plus whatever people got on top of that (alcohol, fast food, etc). That included all of the extra stuff like paper towels, utensils, disposable dishes, etc.
Like UT said, if anyone wants to make a signature dish, they should put together a grocery list and estimated cost based off of a quantity of at least 20 people and pass it on to the main hosting houses (GayHaus/PolyHaus).
And the way I figure it, is even if you don't eat every mass-meal, it's all being used to split up the extra cost of bills each house is fronting to host everyone anyway. *shrug*

Plus the hosts have to work at least part of the meet. And quadz is the only one, of the five-ish of us, I think can get away with working while drunk.

quadz got a really cool looking Marvel game called Legendary. We also got Game of Thrones (both board game and card game) from his brother. I think the commune already has a copy, but at least both houses have a copy now.

I'm so excited for the meet!
I'd kind of like to do Adventure Landing if people are interested. On Friday nights from 6-10pm it's unlimited laser tag, unlimited mini golf, and a huge pizza for four, for only $6.25/person. It's also only 2 miles away from Polohaus, so it won't be too difficult to shuttle a lot of people there.
Also, if anyone's interested in bowling at any point, I'm down.

How many cars (not from Raleigh) will there be at this meet? It'd be good to get an estimate on parking and potential shuttling to/from events and stuff.
I know we have Shea's carpool which will be full anyway. Pirate Mollie will theoretically have a car? UT on the weekends?

Don't forget to pack warm clothes since it'll still be cold-ish here. Yes I realize most people are coming from much colder places, but we have a nice porch/backyard that has plenty of room for smore-making/socializing when people are sleeping and/or the game of True American we plan on playing.

Reporting for emphasis. As of now, please try to budget for at least $30 for provided food/alcohol for the week.
We're all working on keeping the budget as reasonable as possible. Any extra activities+possible fast food outings might be an extra $30-50 depending on what you choose to budget for and participate in.

Polyhaus Meals:
Pasta w/veggie sauce: ~$25 = $1.25/person
Stir Fry: ~$30 = $1.50/person
Fish Tacos: ~$30 = $1.50/person
Enchiladas: ~$35 = $1.75/person
Chili: ~$50 = $2.50/person
We're working on a couple more recipes/estimates, including any communal groceries like cereal, milk, juices, chips, sodas, disposable dishes, etc. Those shouldn't tack on more than about $5/person. We're also probably going to have a pizza option in there somewhere.
All of these costs are estimated on a 20+ person scale, understanding that some might not participate in every meal and some might eat more than others. We're not going to nickel and dime you, but we do expect everyone to pitch in as best they can and be honest about what they should be contributing. This is first and foremost a fun meet/vacation for all of you, so please be respectful of the hosts and everyone you room with, drink with, eat with, game with, and stay with.

Bring what you can but the two main sleeping houses are collaborating on bedding/sleeping space. People driving have volunteered to bring what they can, too. We'll just keep track of who uses what from anyone out of town so nothing gets lost. At the very least you might want your own pillow that you can carry on the plane with you?
The idea is that we'll generally be spending most of our time at PolyHaus with the option of going somewhere else and a few spots people have requested for sleeping. Transportation's being worked out, especially if we plan on any outings like Rum Runners or Adventure Landing.
Alsooooo, Nuwen made me remember the stuffed shells quadz/Glork did at BaltoMeet, so maybe we'll collaborate on a Lasagna/Shell recipe. That wouldn't be more than ~$35-50 = $1.75-2/person?

To compare to BaltoMeet, actually...our house will have one main "activity floor" and one main "sleeping" floor during late night hours. I know that GayHaus has talked about a magic tournament at their house, potentially a poker tournament...or more ornery drinking.

Also, PSA, PolyHaus is a non-smoking house. No smoking inside and ashtrays-only outside. Please be respectful of any residual smoke, since everyone will be in very close quarters of one another and some are more sensitive to it than others.

You could always say you're visiting your friends' new house since they moved. It goes back to previous explanations that make them more plausible (and true), as well as a perfectly reasonable explanation for going to a seemingly random city.
