If you're flying into town, you can go to SFO or SJC, as I'm an equal distance from both (~22 min by car).
SFO to Palo Alto: BART from SFO to Millbrae Caltrain station (requires a transfer BART-BART, which is annoying). Caltrain to Palo Alto station. You can take a bus from there or we can pick you up.
SJC to Palo Alto: #10 VTA bus from SJC to Santa Clara Caltrain station. Caltrain to Palo Alto station, etc...
Either trip while take about an hour and a half. Depending on timing and driver availability, we may have someone who can pick you up at the airport if needed, so post your travel info.

Beach (not super close but not super far, we could do a day trip if people want. It'll be the end of May so hopefully not a terrible time for beach-going? I dunno, I'm not a Cali person)
Baseball Game (not my cup of tea, personally, but the Giants have home games the 23rd-27th, if you're interested)
Amusement Park (Great America & Six Flags are both in the area if people are into that, but it costs $$)
Get mugged in Oakland (jk...)

I have a grill and a lot of cooking implements...we can do pretty much anything. I'll stock up on some food in advance, and we might go shopping the first night to pick up things people want. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let me know so we can take that into account. Chipping in for food costs is much appreciated, should be pretty cheap. We managed to feed ~10 people for 5 days on $20-30/person last time I hosted a meet.
I have no problems with people drinking at my meet, I'll certainly be having a few myself. BYOB, I'll have some generic liquors on-hand for mixed drinks but I don't do beer so get your own.

Swimsuit (if you're into hot tubs/beach plans)
Towels (I have some extra towels for people, but not enough to supply the whole meet)
Cash moneyz (if you're planning to get out and go places at all during the meet)
Laptop (if you play LoL or just want access to the interwebz, I've got wi-fi and a good connection)
Lies (lots of 'em, you scumfucks!)
Questions? Thoughts? Suggestions? PM me or post them in the thread. I'll send out an update to people who /in'd a week or two before the meet with info like my address (those of you who are more enterprising could probably figure that out on your own, though).

I'm basing this on past experience...week-long meets require a lot more interest to pull off, or you end up with small groups of people arriving and different times and basically missing each other. The Reckoning is the exception to the rule because it was held over New Year's (and because Reck is awesome =P).

If there's enough interest for a longer meet, I'm open to it...I just don't want to have to take vacation to have 2-3 people at my house for half the time and then a bunch of people around the weekend.

At this point, my thought is to either to Thursday-Tuesday or Wednesday-Monday. I don't think I want to take more than 3 days of vacation for this, because I only have 15 on the year (and I've already used 2).

Thursday to Tuesday please. Can't do Wednesday (or Thursday) so it'd be way better for me Th-T
I think I'd prefer Th-T as well, my only concern is that everyone's going to leave after the holiday (Monday) and on Tuesday we'll just have a few stragglers leftover.

So, right now it's 2-1 in favor of adding a day to the end of the meet vs the beginning, with 1 person voting for both. Not only is that not enough information for me to make a decision, it's also few enough votes that I'm not particularly inclined yet to include either day. If there will only be 3 people on that extra day (plus myself), that's not enough of a reason to extend the meet.
as the list of attendees grows the benefits are starting to come within striking distance of the cost. If I can make $400 tutoring over the next 2 months I might be able to afford this. How long is this for again?
Probably 6 days, no less than 5, small chance of 7.
OAK is a terrible idea...not only is it the farther of the three airports, but you have to pay a toll to get across the bridge when you're coming back from the airport.
SJC usually has the cheapest flights, but that somewhat depends on what airline(s) you fly.

If AP is coming from his own house to pick you up on his way to mine, SJC is the best airport. If you are leaving from my house, it's equidistant to both SFO and SJC.

lol why does everyone hate SJC so much? It's literally the best airport I've gone through in the bay area, and I've flown through all 3 major ones in the last 3 months.

Flights are typically more expensive through SJC. Also the security there is the most annoying in my experiences.
I've had the exact opposite experience. SJC has had the best prices for 3 of the 5 flights I've booked since I moved here, and the security was quick and easy compared to SFO, which is long and super annoying.
I went last year and it was EPIC. This year's lineup is just as good, if not better. Promo code ROCKNAPA gets you $30 off a 3-day pass or $50 off a 3-day VIP pass.

Also, last time I hosted a meet we had a cookout in the middle and I invited my RL friends over to hang out for a day and play games with us. If y'all want to do that, I can definitely set aside a day for something like that. Sunday, probably.

If people haven't been to SF before, we could always check out Fisherman's Wharf and such. Not sure if there are any cool events going on that week in general, though.
It's k. I'm already an honorary black person by like four different sources (Kise, Nacho, and 2 RL friends). I beat Kise in a dance-off so I own his black-ness indefinitely until he wins it back anyway.

If people can note when/how they're planning to arrive to the meet so that we are not surprised when you show up and/or worried when you don't, that would be awesome. Feel free to pm me phone #s if you want a backup way to be contacted, such as while we're wandering around SF looking for Bacon trucks.
