As an upstater I don't get the hubbub about hurricanes below cat 4. It's just wind and rain.
There was a lot of damage from Sandy up here, though. Whole towns with waterlines up past the first floor. Surreal shit.

Really? Sandy barely hit us and I'm closer to the coast than you are. Although we got some insane flooding from other storms 2-3 years ago. Flooding is definitely the worst part of hurricanes in NY.
Well I was out in Oneonta during Sandy. It's up in elevation, but all the towns around us that were in the lowlands were
f.u.c.k.e.d.

Yeah I would not consider it a city, considering it takes 1 hour to walk from one end of town all the way to the other.
