Mafia over Skype. Already a Success. Who dares to play?

I once asked the question "How crazy would a Mafia game over skype be?
" and the answer is:

Crazy enough, but also incredibly awesome.

It's a mix of chat, forum and real life mafia with a layer of complexity that allows for
developed night talking and varied setups (as opposed to IRL).

Without further ado, below the list of some of the players and after that, the
initial proposal.

How crazy would a Mafia game over skype be?

Here's how it could work:

We get, say... 6 people... to agree on a certain time. One will be the moderator. The mod will assign everyone a role via private chat (Roles may be taken from the wiki or, for extra fun, from Xylbot's roles.

Everyone would log on to a conversation group and play as if they were face to face. Talking. They'll have to figure out a way to take turns or whatever they need to organize themselves.

We might have to set time limit for each day and night so it doesn't drag forever.

scum can chat at night and everyone will give their private orders to the mod via chat.

This is mainly for those of us who don't have the benefit of playing IRL and would like to experience a talked debate.

There's a lot of potential funny stuff... pronounciation of acronyms, accents, arguments, turn taking, etc, etc.

Your appeals to emotion will never be more convincing

Anyway... we need to make this tidy and proper if we want it to work.

Depending on the amount of time available. We could switch the mod and play several setups.

I would be in on this but as I only get skype at home and as soon as I put the headphones on my little one wants to play with them.
I can see this working in a large group as look at the game werewolf. They play that at game conventions in large groups with a mod and it's just so much fun.
Skype can't be that much harder.
If I ever find time it would be sporatic or I would be in for this.

I'm trying to decide wether to use skype or tinychat... Tinychat looks cool enough but Skype might be a bit more secure and reliable.

Anyway... Would you guys be up to try this tomorrow? I would say next weekend but I'm probably going to be V/LA.

If not... we can set the date 2 weekends from now... and find a decent GMT time that fits most people...
