I don't. I really doesn't matter to me if people know whether or not I'm here. I personally like to know who's here, just out of curiosity, and I think other people (like SK) share that curiosity. So, I make myself visible.

What Gaspode said.

If your name is hidden and you post a message, everybody can still see that you're here. The only good reason I can come up with, is that nobody can see you lurking. If you're on-line the whole day for a couple of days and don't post anything, people might think that you're mafia or something. Other than that, I don't see the point.

I use that function because I'm too lazy to log out :).

I automatically click on "anonymous" becuase there have been occasions in the past when people have seen my name in lists on a message board, assumed I was online, and sent urgent emails etc expecting me to reply.

I like to see who's online with me. I wish everyone would unhide.

I like to see who's online, too. Plus, it's too much work to click on the invisible button (and I always forget). I kept meaning to while the mafia with the aliases was going on, because I didn't want to make it too easy for people to figure out which one I was, but I never got around to it.

Part of discussion boards, for me, is the community kind of feeling going on (Dont get me wrong, I've got a normal life too :) ). If you keep yourself visible, new players can ask you questions, you can PM your Mafia mates in real time or go to an instant messenger or that kind of thing. I suppose if you're a hot shot mod who has moderated at least everyone in the forum you may feel like you're a bit of a star. People could be battering your PM inbox and maybe you don't want that. But I say, the hell with that! God damn it! There ain't no secrets here.....

.... or is there?

Because I like to frustrate you, SaberKitty.

I'm currently operating under the Kindergarden school of thought on letting girls (or anyone else) know I like (or even approve) of them. I'm meanest to the people I like most, because I think you can probably handle it and I like to tease. Like many immature folk, I've never really developed appropriate means of expressing approval genuinely and kindly without snickering, making my expression seem insincere.

And a negative connection is better than no connection.

The best is of course when I am dealing with someone who has both the skill and ability to understand me. Better yet is someone who goes farther and empathizes.

I don't have many friends.

(OK, that last was a lie for effect, which is a whole 'nother problem: my sometime acquaintance with the truth. Needless to state, I really like mafia.)

Oooo. Kelvin likes Saberkitty, Kelvin likes Saberkitty! Kelvin and Saberkitty sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. (How's that for Kindergarten school of thought?)

In the spirit of jest should it be a large felt floppy Mad Hatter's hat, as one sees on the heads of chemically assertive people, or should it be a tasteful sunhat? Perhaps a perky chapeau fresh from the Alps? An executioner's hood?

I'm not so well-versed in hats that I'd provide one underadvised. Please, what think you?
