Mediterranean blood. It breeds short and on the slimmer side. People start gaining weight at late thirties, but young adults from Southern Europe average out to what you described.

Italians gain quite a bit. like 2.5 BMI (23.25 to 25.78 for men, 21.19 to 23.62 for women) between the 19-29 age group and the 30-44. That's actually more than the US average gain between those age groups. I'm hoping my Italian background doesn't decide to assert itself there.

But if you have a BMI of 34, it is extremely unlikely you're of average body fat unless you actually are Ray Rice.
