Other thought was he was returning and it was a "hey I'm back" type thread.

To be fair it was my first thought when he just randomly flaked on the game he was in.

He had a pretty strict moderating code and that included no flakers. I don't know if he just go tired of the abuse he received or if something external prompted him to leave.

I remember playing only one game with him. He was scum and managed to get on my obv-town list for being one of only two other people that was vehemently against a really bad lynch.

I was very sad when he flipped scum in Lylo.

Yep. Know the feeling.

I've played in a LOT of games, between my games as Mastin, mastin2, hydras, and alts. I've seen a ton of players that I respect and admire which were around that have all-but vanished, but personally? The worst? The worst is the relatively-new players who I saw great talent in, and seeing them flake. Players who showed much promise and I put emotional investments into, who vanish without a trace.

For every, say, AngryPidgeon out there (player I don't know who instantly earns my respect), there's probably something like ten, say, Yuchais out there. (Not the best example, obv, but the one which immediately came to my mind thanks to me looking at my previously-modded game.)

They say after enough time passes, you learn not to get attached. That you get desensitized to their violent but painfully silent deaths.

...I'm still waiting.
