If you have a steam account READ
I don't know the full details and I'm on my phone however Google steam attack on the news and you'll see your details including credit card details are at risk right now. I don't know what you can do against as I'm limited to my mobile but I suggest you research it now."i agree we should have a rule against wgeurts" -Davsto

Okay further searching has shown it was likely not an attack but a cache failure, still keep an eye on your credit card details or what not as some of those seem to have been accessible"i agree we should have a rule against wgeurts" -Davsto

Based on what I've seen:
I don't think reporting your credit card as lost/stolen is necessary here. Just keep an eye on transactions on any cards you've used on steam, and report fraudulent activity if you see it.
If you've used debit instead of credit, I'm sorry that you're European or uninformed. Report debit cards as lost/stolen, since debit doesn't have the same protection as credit.- Davsto

Steam seem to have pulled the plug on the vulnerable areas until it's fixed.
Simply, no need to worry. The problem was that, upon logging in, they would randomly appear to log into someone else's account and, whole unable to do stuff like post or buy stuff, any details that are visible to you about your account would be visible.
First, this is very little info, as far as I know.
Second, this means the chances of your data being compromised is the chance of, in the hour or so before the plug was pulled, someone using the error maliciously rather than just leaving it and happening to land in your account out of the millions of Steam accounts.
Basically... you're probably safe. Keep an eye out for potentially suspicious things, but don't panic.- PokerFace

I don't save payment details in steam and use paypal with it when i do put in money. So I think I'm good. Thanks for the heads up though fellasWhen I joined this site, I was a software tester for mobile business applications and the song PokerFace was not yet written by Lady Gaga
Now I test lottery and gambling software as my job. It's funny how my life has turned out. Somewhere a Time Traveler is laughing madly- BROseidon

This is why I'm saying that credit is fine - you're at risk for at most $50 and there's almost a 0% chance of fraud.
I wouldn't risk it with debit here, since you're on the hook for 100% of debit fraud iirc- chamber

I checked my bank account after hearing about this and was like "oh! someone must have got confused!" because there was like ~$5.00 in charges, nothing malicious
But then I realized it was me. I had bought two games on sale earlier in the week and forgot. lolThere will be no kisses tonight

Which is still really effing shitty.
It's why I advocate using credit only if you aren't revolving debts (also rewards). It's too bad that shitty interchange regulation in everywhere that's not the US and Canada has killed credit cards w/o the promised benefits to consumers... - BROseidon
