I think that in the time panzer spent typing that pretentious self-important post he could have probably found 2 or 3 new bands/artists that are phenomenal.
Some people don't actually like good music. They just like complaining about the music other people think is good.

ill personally listen to any type of music if i like it. i cant apply that to new country currently, but other than that, I have yet to find a true genre I dont like. There's also the fact that I don't like dissing certain musics because I brains process it differently, and if someone likes something, who am i to down it lol?- Majiffy

There are actually a couple of really good modern country artists out there.
I couldn't name them because I only hear them at the one bar I go to occasionally when the guy who plays country hogs the jukebox, but between the shit sandwiches are a few pieces of good stuff. Blues-heavy, kind of like classic Southern Rock.Only playing in games at personal moderator and/or 50%+ playerlist request.

dope dude.
if im being honest, i was just generalizing country by saying that the cool shit is what bugs me. however, i should know by now that most popular people arent going to be my cup of tea. i like alternative rock, but i hate the popular bands. i love rap, but i dont like most of the mainstream rappers at all.- Majiffy

I'm not versed well enough to say much more than it bugs me. There's one or two things I could pick out a specific gripe with, but I'd rather not because it turns into a "can't unsee" thing that makes it less enjoyable for others.- Flubbernugget

Country is the only genre of music that I will refuse to even consider the possibility of there being any redeeming artists
If it's somehow good, it's probably not actually country

Only band that I said was bad was Megadeth(also admitted I basically didn't know any of their music off hand). And TBF, I asked someone who knows waaaaay more about music than anyone in his thread which was megadeth's good album, dude said none. So I'll just stick to mistaking Run To The Hills as Megadeth.
Rock not existing anymore is an objectively true statement. Like big riffs, big sound, stadium rock stuff, by and large is extinct, especially from the radio. Don't know how saying the truth is pretentious at all. But okay shea.
On country music, I haven't really listened to much beside Hayes Carll, who is legit good and has a ton of satire in his music(at least on the KMAG YOYO album), and weird radio stuff/mega famous Garth Brooks/Toby Keith stuff. I think the stereotypical my wife left me and my dog died style country music is preferable to the weird country crossover stuff, because some of that is truly repugnant - like honkytonk badonkadonk. Although that keyed your truck Carrie Underwood song was pretty dope.
edit: Editing in some hayes carll cause it's worth it.

As for "rock" not existing anymore, your standard for good music shouldn't be loudness and audience size and "wowzers what a rok st4r"- Flubbernugget

Baroness is dope. Also not rock.
I do not know more than you. I never said I knew more than you. I think you need lessons in reading. I asked a friend of mine, who certainly does know more. He was a touring musician for a number of years(toured with guys like Lupe Fiasco) and has a music theory degree.
And when I say big sound, I don't mean loudness or audience size. Are you English as a second language or something? Listen to stuff that's considered hard rock. AC/DC, Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, Deep Purple, Zeppelin type stuff. That classic rock sound is extinct. No one makes music like that anymore. My original point, which apparently has been written off as pretentious fuckery, is that everything out right now, is not rock. It's just not. It's not a judgement of value. It's an objective statement.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.- Kublai Khan

I kinda agree with panzer that Megadeth is pretty horrible. Even when I listened to 80s/90s hard rock/metal acts, there never was a Megadeth album or song that I could honestly say that I enjoyed.
But I disagree with panzer that "rock" is dead. I mean, I understand that music constantly evolves, but "classic rock" isn't just some transitional phase. What about that garage rock revival of the early 2000s? The White Stripes, The Hives, The Strokes, The Black Keys, Jet, Wolf Parade, etc?Occasionally intellectually honest

1) line isn't so distinct. She is heavily country based and the melodic structure/production are both pretty country.
4) if you like the odeath sound check out the rest of 16 Horsepower. They are one of the formative alt country groups. American Wheeze and Low Estate are two of my favorites.Only playing in games at personal moderator and/or 50%+ playerlist request.
