I think it's just that the site demographics have changed and we have a younger, less-fightier userbase now who also aren't as inclined to participate in the discussion parts of the site (no doubt in part because they are very ingroupy. Not that I dislike that or want it to change). As a result, everyone who was going to dig into other people has done so. But this is just what I've observed anecdotally.
