Book an appointment the day of the ball at Sephora or somewhere? At least when I went to prom, they had a special that day where girls could go in and get their makeup done professionally for free(and of course they'd also try to sell them the product afterward).

Have you tried looking on youtube? There are bunch of tutorial videos on there, that is where I have learnt pretty much anything about using make-up.

id love to look on youtube but theres usually one of two problems:
1. most beauty gurus are white people and im asian
2. asians look like kpop stars all the time which isnt doing me any favors

i just want a basic look for ball lmao

Oh, that was partly why I suggested YouTube. I like the videos by Michelle Phan, but there are so many channels to choose from I figured one way or another there should be something to your taste. I'm not really sure what you mean about k-pop though, you mean the styles are too over the top, or... ?

Not to post an obnoxious selfie but this is how I normally do my makeup:

Because I recently started make-up. I originally did really heavy black liner and thick eyebrows and I realized that's not me. So I wear brown liner (top eyelid and usually bottom unless I'm going to work because it makes me look more party) and only lightly brush my out of control brows and add a little bit of brown eyeshadow to my eyebrows lmfao. For skin I just use a powder + foundation 2n1 because if you give me liquid foundation I go overboard and look like a clown. For more special events I put on BBcream or concealer. And I do smokey eyes.

I find makeup really makes me look more asian. Probably because of how I do my eyes.

Ya brown liner looks like it suits you more than black would cos it softens the harshness of the colour against your skintone. Your skin looks really dang nice too and I am a bit jealous not gonna lie!!

I had a lot of fun with this look! It's fairly silly and experimentational but it helped me get the grips with gel eyeliner a bit (it was used for the bigger eye). This was also one of the few times I didn't use mainly sugarpill eyeshadows. The white>yellow>green in the eye decorations was done with the neon palette from BYS. Outlined one side of the black with Sugarpill Mint Soda, and my right eye had it waterlined with the same shadow and my left eye just had the top lid lined with it.

Lips were really fun to do! Used a black lip cream as a base (dont ask the brand i don't remember) and then layered on top (except for around the edges) Sugarpill Royal Sugar, and then on top of that I layered on Sugarpill Lumi. Lined it with a bit of eyeliner cos I don't have black lip liner but they should be the same anyway.

Also I covered one brow cos I thought it looked cool.

My new shadows should arrive over the course of the next few days and I'm super excited!! I will post pics when I get them.

Also the Orange is soooo much more vibrant than the loose neon orange I have already and that makes me really happy :) Looking forward to using the neon yellow too!

You seem to have the hang of eyeliner now which is really great cos it complements ur eye shape a lot. I think you'd do well with trying out brown liner also cos it would look nice against ur skintone.
The brows are a good colour, maybe it's the pic tho but your left brow seems to be filled in more (I think it has the better colour ftr). but ofc this is just nitpicky technique stuff. You might also consider trying to shape your brows differently too? I think it's worth a shot, but it's not necessary as it is.
I'd also wonder if you would consider experimenting with waterlining and also doing mascara on ur bottom lashes (I always do a couple of small swipes on my bottom lashes cos I think it makes my eyes look extra fem and also reasonably stand-out-ish).
I think for the most part you've got this look down pat now and from here on its about experimentation with what to do and where to put things and how you do it. I am keen on seeing where you go from here!

anyway what i usually do is just eyelashes w no eyeliner.... its a nice natural thing and if im feeling fancy i go for the Winged Eyeliner which ommy says looks cute on asian girls

also: i have been using this cute rose colored lipstick and its so cute but like....... i wanna go for Deep Reds n stuff

i want to look into experimenting with non-red/nude lippys but me being me i want to splurge on some real good shit, like jeffree star or something. I want to kick it w/ a nice deep blue lippy actually. In the meantime i could always fool around with eyeshadow on my lips i guess,

oman my tip to u is practice.... when i first did wings they were always uneven, now they are probably still uneven but u gotta take all ur pics at the right angle
