In. Yes to first house rule, flat-out wouldn't play a game with fleet board AND cylon attack crises, that'd be insane. Prefer fleet board to cylon attack crises.

Destination preference: Earth > Ionian Nebula > Kobol > New Caprica

Prefer Final Five but not Personal Goals

Also would prefer a gentleman's agreement not to pick Cain unless we variant the shit out of her OPG

EDIT: Misread your wording as a possible house rule of both Fleet Board & CACs. Yes to the Fleet Board, please, but I don't mind a great deal either way.

Spending a 'miracle' on killing somebody who'll just come back the next day would be an action hardly worthy of the name, Callandra.

Confirm! Drawing only two as a Cylon Leader, so I'll take
one
Politics
and one
Engineering
.

You'll be pleased to know that God's plan doesn't yet involve your gruesome demise. With that in mind, I might recommend finding a way to get Kara out into space before the start of her turn. It's her destiny, after all.

Setting up for an attack on the basestar seems like common sense to me, regardless of the artificiality of those proposing it. Having somebody on Pegasus is a bonus.

I want the same thing I've always wanted - for you to understand your destiny. Accept that you will lose Hera and spare yourselves the heartbreak of trial and failure. I have seen it.

I'm pretty much going to balls-out roleplay this as heavily as possible, for both secrecy-rules and fun purposes. If that becomes a problem for anyone, please let me know.

The Admiral understands. With so far to go until Earth, easier to recover from the setback you choose yourself than the disaster you risk.

But if you must defy your destiny, I won't stand in your way. Of course, that means I won't stand in the way of my brothers and sisters, either ... don't say I didn't warn you.

"Hot Dog", is it? Yes, even you, it seems, have a role to play in the grand cosmic pattern of what is to come and what has already been. Specifically, the role of 'man in background'. Your quaint Demetrius looks understaffed.

With Earth in play and distance required before winning jump up to 10, you'll likely need to use the Demetrius to go searching for one of the Missions which grant extra distance (though there are some very useful ones that don't give distance too). Missions usually have high-ish skill check difficulty but can't be affected by cards with Skill Check abilities or interrupts, and you can attempt a maximum of one per jump cycle. Ideally you'd like to activate Tactical Plot (to scout the Mission deck), then Captain's Cabin (to give everyone cards that are positive for the check), then Bridge (to attempt the top Mission), but steps can be skipped as and when required.

In not-relevant-right-now-but-it's-Starbuck's-turn-at-least news, I recommend launching in an assault raptor next time so as to stay in space between jumps. It's Starbuck's best friend. I have absolutely no way to convey that through RP; I humbly apologise.

The most recent official FAQ ruling is that basestars repair damage when they're moved from the main board to the fleet board during a jump, so unless you can destroy the basestar before we autojump (i.e. spend your last nuke on probably doing that), it seems like a waste.

A rash decision, Mr President. With the Final Five concealed somewhere in your fleet, you might regret poking around blindly without consulting your peers beforehand.

In any case, Kara and I were already in the business of looking into the Admiral's loyalties. This is a waste of your resources.

As people couldn't necessarily have known that it was coming, a little extra time to call for possible stratplans seems fair. Obviously i can't...

Not going to take my action yet until we're clear on the fuel roll.

I definitely agree that people should make a habit of asking for a pause for stratplans but there can also be situations in which, say, Prozac might not care to play one but somebody still could if we were all playing this face to face.

I make that implicit or explicit passes from everyone, so gonna carry on.

You can't ignore your destiny any longer, Kara. It's time that I guided you personally. I'll be on the radio while you're in the cockpit.

Action: Activate Human Fleet to inflitrate to Command.

Your engineer can kill me if she wants to, but I doubt that Cavil would be too pleased if what remains of her cover were blown so easily.

I have no doubt that you could do this if you put your minds to it but not all Cylons are as friendly as I and your pilot seems to think that you will have need of your political acumen in the near future. I'm willing to make a sacrifice for you if you ask it of me ... but I'm open to suggestions.

As someone at one of the Cylon meetings once told me, sometimes you have to roll the hard six.

Take the OR; I'll discard two at random.

I hope you appreciate that I'm putting the needs of the many ahead of the needs of the few here.

If your engineer asked you to spend resources - including your clearly important political capital - on something that she could do herself at minimal cost, I would refuse to help on principle.

I've been reading up on your chain of command here in your cosy CIC, and I note the following:

If you remove Adama, the Admiralty passes to Starbuck (who is not one of the group of two which contains a guaranteed Cylon and has shown no signs of malice as she pursues her destiny).
If you call the lawyer's bluff and you do so in error, the Admiralty stays with a man you know to be a Cylon. Does that seem right to you?

Of course, the problem is that Cally is a Cylon and doesn't want to kill one of her own. I looked into the eyes of God, and He showed me the truth.

The only acceptable play would have been Guts and Initiative as an interrupt. I should have thought to ask. I worry about destiny if you attempt a mission on Hot Dog's turn (which you probably should anyway, with hands this large).

I'd like to wait a few hours for people to give input on how much they can or can't play into this check, if that's OK. As previously indicated, I'm willing to be persuaded about playing into this check - I could play low or high or not at all but, as far as I'm concerned, either result of this check is frustrating for me so the main advantage here is a chance to build some trust with you guys as we communicate on what to do here. If I've not heard anything by the time that I go to bed, I'll make a play for the sake of moving on.

For the sake of speed, this sort of decision is the sort that should probably be CO'd when you submit cards for the skill check.

Given that Starbuck goes next, you should take out the basestar and heavy raider at fore.

God has a sense of humour.

I'd help if you confront the morale problem head-on, but these are two bad choices. Only you know how the quorum feels about food.

Peeps, please please please read the thread when it's not your turn and send in conditional orders when you know what you're going to want to do with a crisis (especially if we're not talking about it in the thread). This one skill check is going to have taken us a week to complete, which makes any hope of ever finishing this frakking thing pretty remote and sucks a lot out of the fun from playing through the months it's taking. This is officially getting ridiculous.

Destiny is bad here and would need to be compensated for. I can live with the check failing if I am swiftly XOed out of sickbay but, if no XO is forthcoming, then I would have to rethink how I've been approaching this game. The ideal scenario for me is the check passes and I get XOed anyway, because there are things that would best be done on this jump cycle, but I have a bit of room to compromise.

Adama, if you can help this check to pass, that's also valuable. Everyone needs to be talking to me here. How this check and the next couple of turns go are likely to be pretty important in deciding the camp with whom I throw my hat.

I'm not yet ready for a quick end but time is on your side, not the humans', with their resources as low as they are.

I actually want them to get jump prep right now so, if you were to give them some here on a food/population/even fuel crisis, I would help you to make it hurt. But if you go in for the kill right now, you'll force my hand. Your true partner is either pleading her innocence in the Brig or slow-playing to avoid detection, so I'm the closest thing to a full-on second Cylon that you have right now. That disappears if you spurn me here.

There's no ship activation on Caprica. I was asking because I was curious about jump prep. I guess this one doesn't have any? A shame.

The time to make use of me on your own ship was when I was on your own ship. I can do an equivalent job on the Cylon locations and will happily do so if you humans start throwing me a bone or two. The way I see it, it's your turn to help me out, not the other way around.

I agree that resources are your biggest problem. Morale, in particular, needs to be raised in order to stop Prozac from just murdering you all to total death.

Secrecy prevents me from being too explicit in saying what I need to have happen but I continue to ask that you play a more active role in fighting off the incoming fleet. Things would have been a lot easier if I'd been helped in doing this when it was more manageable, but that chance was missed, so now you've got a bigger fight on your hands. But proactivity here is required. If you don't make a serious dent in the fleet, winning with the humans becomes a very difficult proposition for me.

On the Cylon locations, I can use Caprica to get you jump prep/favourable crises without risking ship activations, and I can use the Human Fleet to scout crises and destinations while drawing a greater variety of skill cards. That's enough scope to help for what you've given me so far. With the level of cooperation that has so far been on offer for me from the humans, the extra skill contribution that would come with my infiltration is not enough of a reason for me to commit to helping you by returning to Galactica.

Draw Politics, move to the Human Fleet and scout Crisis.

Looking ahead to your turn, Big Billy, I would ask that you go to the Cylon Fleet and activate basestar attacks or heavy raiders. Both useful for you without condemning me to certain doom.

Morale is the way in which you could win quickest, but Caprica gives you no guarantee that you would get such a crisis and you are likely to end up just giving the humans jump prep, which they badly need. You also ought to factor in that, were you to go looking for that kind of win, you'd be forcing me to work with the humans.

With that in mind, I think the Cylon Fleet is the best option for you. Two basestar attacks this turn could very easily leave them on three damage on Galactica, with both the people who draw blue in the brig. Heavy raiders is less optimal for you but, again, they have two people in the brig so one boarding would tie down all their actions for the foreseeable future. You'd also have that sitting on there in case they jump.

From my perspective, I'd prefer heavy raiders to basestars to give me a little more time to get the game set to my goals, but basestars are probably the bigger and quicker threat so I'd say that they're your best bet. Basestar Bridge for one civvie plus one guaranteed damage is similarly useful but is more advancing two goals slowly (population & damage losses) than one goal quickly (damage loss using Cylon Fleet). I can't remember if the clown ship has been destroyed yet so, on the off chance that it's still alive, I'd prefer for you to be destroying fewer civilians.

I think activating basestars is your best option, all in all.

More subjectively, I want to use Caprica on my turn, and I can't move there if you're already standing there, due to my drawback. If you stay on that location, you'd probably be forcing me to infiltrate again so that I can start playing more cards against you in skill checks and repairing their shit. I don't mind so much if they stay in the brig but I'd work to help them out if you stay where you are. I might even OPG to give Tory my carefully curated hand of skills to screw with your ability to hurt them. I'd rather not, but I will if you make me.

I mean, I said what I would do in your position. I'd take the slightly slower option towards still very likely victory without making the CL oppose you, as opposed to the way that
might
push you to a quicker victory that definitely pushes the CL away. 4v2 is a very different game to 3v3. And honestly, I'm really not that far from being able to work with you, but this is going to be a pretty critical turn.

I think that it would be helpful to get Cally out as soon as possible. Ideally, that gets done with the Quorum to preserve hand strength but higher priority is to spring her quickly. I definitely recommend working with the Quorum as well, though. I'd rather see an Arrest Order on Starbuck than more cards flushed away through the Airlock, for example.

The main thing is to activate the starboard-bow sector last so that the other raiders will move toward the civilian rather than shoot at Galactica after it's destroyed, so there'll only be three raiders shooting at you rather than eight. That sector then becomes pretty nukeworthy next turn.

There are two basestars on the board. It would not be very difficult for Galactica to explode very quickly, especially with Hot Dog in the brig to slow jump progress and you guys being unable to assign damage to Pegasus on Cylon turns if they don't want you to, while you could lose valuable cards to fight that if Cally goes to sickbay. Meanwhile, on Pegasus, you have only a 25% chance of damaging the Airlock.

No-brainer to me, but your decision. In a game moving this slowly, I'd really rather that you made it quickly (or had had this discussion during the skill check when you knew that it was coming).

God's plan is deeper than the weak can fathom. When it is at its most puzzling, that's when it's the clearest to see.

Dreadful fucking choice.

Crisis is:

Keep Tabs on Visitor
Current Player Chooses:
Difficulty 12 Politics +
Leadership
+
Tactics

Pass: No Effect
Fail: Roll a die. If 4 or lower, -2 Population
OR
The current player discards 4 random skill cards
Activate Raiders
, Jump Prep

Take the skill check
, should probably pass this, yo

A Justified Response is a nightmare to fulfil with the fleet board, something which I didn't really appreciate until a few turns into the game. Everything was just peachy until morale dropped to 2, though. I couldn't remember if we'd already seen all of the morale-boost crises but we'd certainly had at least one... but yeah, that was immensely frustrating.

But good game, Cylons, you did exactly what you needed to do (and Prozac, who didn't have to delay for my sake but did anyway). And thanks very much to Sudo for sticking out this thing. I was tempted to run one myself, with some tweaks to characters and balance, after this game but the level of engagement in terms of keeping things moving here was really disappointing so I probably won't.

In post 1133, Porochaz wrote:That's a pretty horrible set of agendas. If you hadn't hinted strongly you had the get past 7 distance card then I might have been more inclined to listen to you.

I don't think I ever hinted at having such an agenda specifically - I might have said that I need more time, but that's because I did. I felt like some of my motives should have been relatively easy to deduce - I started to wonder if the reason why I wasn't getting much help in my repeated efforts to shoot things with Pegasus CIC was because the humans had twigged that I had A Justified Response, for example, while I rather heavy-handedly implied that I needed morale down early on, something on which I now obviously regret having pushed so heavily. But certainly Fight With Honour is hard to detect unless I go around drawing Treachery at the Captain's Cabin or anything. I wonder now whether I should have just taken the random discards on that last crisis even if it risked losing my grip on that motive, as it wouldn't have been any use without completing either of the other two as well. Ah well.

I was actually really hopeful at sleeper - it was obvious that the Cylons were more likely to win and I thought that I would probably be able to control morale. Alas.

I think the last sentence there is spot-on. I've really enjoyed playing Hot Dog recently but, if he's not able to actually use the cool piloting shit that he constantly draws, he loses a lot of his shine. When Starbuck, who demands to be the go-to pilot out in space, is your fellow pilot, it's not ideal. He works better alongside Boomer, Anders or Pilot Helo.

I don't think that there's anything that I'd ask from you to do things differently, Sudo. As STD says, it just requires players to be checking in frequently (BGG's forums usually ask for once or twice a day) even when it's not their turn. COs are important as well, triply so if people don't check in as frequently. Neither of those things are something that you can really force through on players beyond a mountain of prods (which themselves may not necessarily be seen, despite representing frequent and tiring work for you). On MS, there aren't a lot of potential replacements for a BSG game so you can't afford to be strict in saying 'you didn't check in, so you're outta here'. The burden is really on the players to be invested. If I were to run a game, I don't know that I'd do it unless I knew for sure that the players who wanted in would do that.
