This year, 1901, marks a special day. The tiger Hobbes has become the first anthropomorphic animal to take over the Pope's seat.
"God was sick of evil humans running the place, and wanted to give the seat to a much more pure animal." Hobbes could be heard talking to reporters. "I bring an era of peace and love, and anyone who goes against that is getting taken down."

Another reporter asks, "What happened to the last pope?"
Hobbes just licks his lips and shakes his head. "He resigned, and is now living out a peaceful retirement."

Voices of discontent have been spreading amongst the Italians about the performance of the new pope. Apparently he sleeps a lot and is very lazy.

Rumor has it he got wasted with the Kaiser of Germany last night which almost resulted in the Kaiser failing to input his orders.

Attack ads trying to find the most unattractive pictures of Hobbes have been rampant.

Hobbes has been reported saying, "I procrastinate. Deal with it (later)."

Italy, what is your plan regarding Tyrolia?

My army went into Tyrolia to quickly scout out the state of Austria-Hungary. I wanted to make sure my neighbors were living under a reasonable leader who was caring for his citizens. My initial scouting has determined that Austria has no leader. Instead, there was this strange hideous zombie thing in charge. Communication was attempted but met with little success.

Italy, what are your thoughts on the West, and Austria?

President Drench seems to have gone missing. Everyone is assuming he has been assassinated. Spies have been sent to Germany and England to see if Drench is currently held hostage in one of those countries.
Kaiser OGML seems to be a progressive leader, he's quick to expand his nation for his citizens.
King CareyHammer seems to be a more passive and peaceful type. I am confident the relationship between England and Germany is going to end in sunshine and rainbows.

Change that to a 6 way draw. There's no chance I want France in it for blatantly ignoring a game he signed up for.
