In this game, players will be pitted against each other in the classic game of pure luck:
Rock Paper Scissors
. However, your options are not limited to the original three - no, we've collected a group of
one hundred and one actions
that can be thrown against your opponent! There are so many possibilities that it deserves its own Flash file:
Each round of play, every player will be paired with another for a single game of
Rock Paper Scissors
. The winning player in each battle will progress to the next round
, while the loser will fall into a secondary "Losers' Bracket". Both will
be paired again
with the player in an adjacent branch who achieved the same outcome as them in the previous round
.
This process repeats until only two players remain
: one from the main bracket and one from the secondary
.
At this point they will play three games of
Rock Paper Scissors
. When a player achieves two wins in this final stage, they will be crowned the champion!
Update Feb 5: These two players will fight; however, the winner of the second bracket must defeat the winner of the first
twice
in order to win.
If the number of players is not a power of 2 (i.e. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, ...), I will create enough "bots" to fill the game. These bots will have a predetermined list of actions that will be stored in a QuickTopic until they are all eliminated (so you can verify that there was no bot cheating).
If any bot survives until the final
16 players
, or if at any time the number of surviving bots is greater than surviving players, random bots will be eliminated until the game is again playable.
If you lose any RPS round
in the secondary bracket
, you are out of the game.
No
third
chances. You're out. We're looking for one winner, and if you're not it then you lose.

Replacements should send in one action every round, even when they are not in a bracket and paired against a player. If any player does not submit an action, the first user in the replacement list will take their place and their action will be compared to their new opponent's.
Discussion of events, plans and actions may be held in thread, and are encouraged! However, please don't communicate about the game outside this thread. It won't be punished, because I can't see a benefit in your doing so, but I'd like to be able to see what is going on!
On the declaration of a round, players will have 72 hours to submit one of the 101 actions listed previously. Failure to do so will result in
immediate replacement, and your opponent will fight the new player as outlined above. If both players do not submit, both will be replaced and the replacements will fight each other.
However, if there are no replacements available for whatever reason, failure to submit will give you
an automatic loss and your opponent will move on to the next round. If both players fail to submit
in this situation
, both will be eliminated and a new bot will be created and will claim the win for that battle.
With the declaration of the double-elimination rule, players defeated by a bot won't come back in this scenario.
After this 72 hour period, I will post that I am determining winners. This can take varying amounts of time dependent on many, many things. If I don't say something 24 hours after deadline, or if I'm taking more than 24 hours to calculate, feel free to shoot me. A PM. To remind me.
When the final player is defeated, they will be crowned the 2013 MafiaScum King/Queen of Rock Paper Scissors 101, or MMXIIIMSKQoRPSCI for... short...
I will also post an array of statistics about the actions used, including the action(s) that won the most rounds, the least used action(s), etcetera. If you have any suggestions for a stat you'd like to see, let me know in thread or by PM as soon as possible so I can start gathering data!
