SETUP RULES

  • This game will be played between 2 players.
  • The basic rules for the game are located here. This game is based on the American Game Show Network version of the game with some minor alterations.
  • After the game is over, all players must relinquish their seats if there are players in the queue.
  • Players may (and are encouraged) to play as many times as they like however, and anyone is welcome to get back in the queue if they're not currently playing.
  • There will be no formal deadlines for making plays, but please be respectful of everyone else. If you think you're going to be V/LA for an extended period of time, then replace out or have someone else play for you until you get back.
  • Players are ranked according to their wins first, historical worth second, and losses third. Historical worth is cumulative over every game played, win or lose.

GAME RULES

Object
  • Two players against one another to earn more money.

How to Play
  • There are four total chains during the main game. Each chain will consist of seven words that can be strung together to form a "chain". All connecting words in the chain will be two-word phrases or compound words that relate to one another somehow.
  • After a dice-based coin flip to see which player goes first, the player with control is allowed to reveal one letter somewhere in the chain. The letter must be the first letter of the word (or second letter if the first letter is already revealed, third letter if the second letter is, and so forth). The top and bottom words will be revealed at the start of the chain.
  • Players do not have to have a letter revealed if they don't want to do so. Additionally, I will not reveal the last letter of a word. If both players are unable to guess a word after all but the last letter is revealed, the word is revealed and neither player earns money for that word.
  • After the letter is revealed the player has a chance to guess the word.
    Bolding
    guesses is encouraged, but it's not required. If correct, the player wins a specific amount of money depending on the round. If incorrect, control goes to the other player. If a player does not know the word, they may say
    No Guess
    /
    Pass
    . Players are not penalized for guessing wrong, however.
  • In round one, each correct word is worth $100, round two words are worth $200 and words in round three are worth $300. Whichever player is behind going into a round starts the next round (in the event of a tie, the player who did not start the last chain started the next chain). In the fourth round (known as the "Betting Round"), players can wager between $100 and $500 of their bank before asking for a letter. If correct, they win their bet and keep control, if not, they lose their bet and control. A player automatically loses if they go broke, and the game ends immediately.
  • Team members may not discuss the answers amongst themselves. They may, however, discuss betting amounts, decide which order they wish to go in or talk strategies about what letters to reveal.

  • The contestant with the highest cash total at the end of the fourth round moves to the bonus round to earn extra cash.
    If the fourth round ends in a tie, the two players will each be given a "speed chain" of four words. The two outermost words will be revealed, and the two innermost words will have only the first letter revealed. Speed chains will continue until one player does not come up with the correct answers.
  • The bonus round will have two players acting as clue-givers and one player acting as the guesser. The two clue-givers will be told a word and will alternate giving one word clues to help the guesser come up with the word. The word cannot be used in any of the clues. The clue-givers may pass on a word at any time. There are five words in total, but the guesser only has to guess three of the five. The clue-givers may not discuss strategies amongst themselves for giving clues, nor may they help the guesser in any way. If a team wins the bonus round, they earn an extra $2,500 dollars. If they lose, their score does not change.

Okay, gams said let's get this thing started. That's fine with me. Let's do a dice roll to see who goes first.

Cuddly = 1
BC = 2

Original Roll String: 1d2
1 2-Sided Dice: (2) = 2

You know what I just realized? I forgot you need to reveal the top and bottom words before even starting. At least that's how the do it on the game show anyways. I'm going to amend the rules to include this.

Okay, BC will be starting us off. BC, please choose a row where you'd like to reveal a letter, then you may guess. Just make it clear where you want it (under X/over Y is probably easiest), because once I reveal, you cannot change... even if I'm the one that makes the mistake!

If you don't have a guess after you reveal a letter, feel free to say No Guess/Pass. You are not penalized for guessing wrong, however.

Additionally, players do not have to reveal a letter if they do not want to. There may be situations where you want to use this to your advantage.

BC gets a guess now. If he's right, he earns $100 and can choose to reveal another letter. If he's wrong/passes, CC may then guess a letter. And we'll keep going like that until the chain is up!
