Everyone is John! [Game 1!]

Everyone is John

Everyone is John is a competitive role-playing party game, where each player is a voice in a man named John's head. Each player has a player-defined obsession to complete, along with a few skills to help him/her complete it. Different obsessions will earn different amounts of points, based on their complexity, and whoever has the most points at the game's end wins. I, the GM, will play John and all of the NPCs.

I won't go into all of the rules and gameplay here, because a copy of them is a few lines above this. However, here are a few rules.

Player Queue

  1. Blackberry

(Italics = Need voice information)

In Current Game: 1

  1. Brian Skies
  2. Eyestott
  3. ForWhomTheJellRolls
  4. Marquis
  5. Cheery Dog

Game Rules

  1. In this game, players must abide by all site rules.
  2. 48 hour deadlines will be put into place. If you might be inactive, please PM me and announce it in-thread.
  3. Private communication is not permitted. If you have something to say to another character, post it in-thread.
  4. Please bold your actions, and post your own dice tags. I will not accept static dice tags, however, and attempting to cheat will get you mod-killed.
    Example dice tags:

    Code: Select all

    [dice]1d6[/dice] or [dice]1d6 + willpower[/dice]

  5. If I have forgotten something important (which I probably have), please post it in the thread, or PM me if it is sensitive-ish. I'm not infallible, and probably forgot something in these rules.

joiningTo join the queue, /in in the thread and PM me with your voice's name, skills, and obsession. I'll then review the voice, and then assign a point value to its obsession. For the first few games, each player will have one obsession, but that may be increased as more games are played.

Game One!

  1. Brian Skies
  2. Eyestott
  3. ForWhomTheJellyRolls
  4. Marquis
  5. Cheery Dog

Time to bid for control of John! PM me the amount of willpower that you are willing to spend to control him. If you have two skills, then you have 10 WP (willpower points). If you have three skills, then you have 7 WP.

Bidding will end either when all players have bid, or in
(expired on 2015-04-23 16:00:00)
.

If you guys want, I could put the amount of willpower you each have in each moderator post. I'll still be keeping track of it, but I'm not sure if you all want it to be public.

John wakes up with his head on a desk. He must have been dozing...
When he picks up his head, he sees the room is a giant oval, with a bunch of eagles and American flags everywhere. Oh dear...

Literal Eagles?
Are there any doors?
Do I have a phone?
What else is in the room?
What do I have on me?

John asks, "Who are you, talking in my head?" He looks around, and sighs. "Whatever. The eagles are mostly on the national seals and whatnot, but Jerry the Eagle is sitting on my desk.

"There are four doors: the east door opens to the Rose Garden; the west door leads to a study and dining room; the northwest door opens onto the main corridor of the West Wing; and the northeast door opens to the office of the secretary.

"There's a phone on my left that
everyone
knows is monitored, and I've got an iPhone in my pocket. There are some couches and chairs, and office supplies on the desk. There's also a ton of paperwork. I'm wearing a very clean suit, and I've got a semi-automatic pistol inside of that. I've also got my wallet, and that's about it."

After saying all of this, a short, younger woman puts her head through the northeast door and says, "Mr. President, you have a visitor."

John asks the woman to send in the visitor. She nods, and leaves for a second. When she comes back, she is followed by a man that looks a lot like Bill Gates. No, wait. He is Bill Gates! The woman then leaves.

"Man," starts Bill Gates, "Have I got a deal for you." He then goes on to tell John of his proposition: if John allows him to become co-president, he will pay off all of the nation's debt. John isn't sure this is legal, and also questions the amount of money Gates has.

John thinks about calling his advisor in, but decides against it.
Bill Gates looks at John, wondering if he is deaf.

The roll has failed. It is time for another bid for control! Bidding will end in (expired on 2015-04-27 09:00:00).

Every time I see the [Game One!] in the title my mind autofills it to [Game Over!] and I pull a double-take and wonder what the hell happened to make the game end so quickly

That happened to me, even. I think I'll use a new titling system, based on game number, amount of bids, and number of rolls that bid.
