I ask d3f3nd3r is he wants to have a drink.

After a moment of contemplation, he accepts my offer.

We leave the murderous wheel, and head through the carnival grounds toward a nice café.

As we head toward the café, we see some other rides that look appealing.

We stop at the giant super rollercoaster.

After a moment’s discussion, we decide that we want to ride it.

Unfortunately for us, there’s a really long line, but we decide that it’s worth the wait.

So we wait.

And wait.

And wait.

And then, finally, we get to the front of the line.

We climb aboard the ride, and it is the most amazing thing we have ever experienced.

We go up, we go down, we go all around.

The ride finally stops.

We get off the ride, and we have never had so much fun in our lives.

We immediately see a photo booth. Of course we had to have a go.

But, like the rollercoaster, lots of other people have the same idea as we.

But we really want our photos taken.

So we join the line.

And we wait.

And wait.

And wait.

And then finally, we get to the front of the line.

We hop inside the photo booth and put on the silly hats.

My hat is a sailor’s hat. D3f3nd3r’s is a sombrero.

We smile, we laugh, we cry.

Our time in the photo booth comes to an end.

After leaving the photo booth, we remember that we were looking for a nice café to have a coffee.

So we head toward the café.

When we see the café, it’s closed. This makes us both feel disappointed.

I look at d3f3nd3r.

D3f3nd3r looks at me.

D3f3nd3r suggests we find a coffee elsewhere.

I ask him where he wants to have a coffee.

He suggests a place near his house, which sounds appealing to me.

We both head toward the carpark together.

We arrive in the carpark.

We arrive at his car.

He opens the car and we both climb inside.

As we head for the boom gate, we find that many other cars are leaving now too.

Of course, it’s near closing time.

We wait in the line of cars.

And wait.

And wait.

And finally, we get through the boom gate after paying for parking.

We’re on the open road, heading to the café.

We arrive in the café carpark. We get out of the car.

I close my car door.

D3f3nd3r closes his.

We enter the café, hand in hand.

But there’s a problem.

There are so many people inside the café.

There’s a line just to sit down in this place.

We’ve been through so much to get to this point that we decide it’s worth the final wait.

So we wait.

And wait.

And wait.

And finally, we can sit down.

We sit there, with our coffees, and talk about our lives.

We share our saddest moments.

We share our happiest too.

We talk about things that we’ve never talked about with anyone else.

We notice that despite all the lines we saw today.

There was not a single punchline.

I've still got time

pls to not turn ferris wheel into EtE
Fickle, cold and harsh or caring and warm
Strongly opinionated or barely invested, but a constant
You know the wind will always come back.

As we finish our coffee, we begin talking about that twisted game we were forced to play, killing off total strangers.

We think about all those we killed.

We realise that in that game, we really did have a choice.

We didn’t have to get on the Ferris Wheel.

We couldn’t blame the wheel for the evils that we committed.

We were the monsters.

We are the monsters.

We agree that we cannot tell anyone of this, or we will most certainly go to prison.

We also promise to forget about the wheel.

For both of our sanity’s sake.

Days go by, and the events of that Ferris Wheel haunt me.

I sit at my desk, trying to manage my affairs.

I have divorce paperwork from my soon to be ex-wife.

I have an eviction notice from my property.

I need to pay my Netflix bill, as my thirty day free trial had just expired.

Among all of this, I ponder, how will I pay for Axxle’s funeral, as I promised I would do?

I check my bank balance, to see how much I have to spend.

My bank balance is $0.23.

I begin to weep.

I meet up with d3f3nd3r again, at the café near his house.

He buys us both a coffee.

I tell him that I am living alone, and that I’m short of cash.

He says I can stay with him, rent free.

The offer is too good to be true.

I feel bad about what I know I must do.

It is now the evening.

I go with him to his house, having spent another day talking about our lives before the wheel.

We enter, and he shows me around.

I take note of all the valuables.

I do not want to steal from him, but I do not see another choice.

D3f3nd3r does not know what I am thinking.

That makes things all the more saddening for me.

He takes out a blanket and some pillows, and puts them on the couch.

I thank him and go to get ready.

He stops me.

“This is for me,” he says.

“You can sleep in my bed.”

I cry.

The generosity he is showing me is too much for me to bear.

Why would he offer me all this?

Can I steal from someone so kind?

I climb up the stairs to his bedroom.

He assumes the crying is related to the wheel, and doesn’t ask.

He turns out the lights downstairs.

It is the middle of the night.

I quietly climb down the stairs.

I sneak past d3f3nd3r, who is sleeping on the couch.

I enter the kitchen, where I saw his golden cutlery set.

I quietly grab the cutlery, one piece at a time, slipping the pieces into my pocket.

Suddenly, I hear a noise.

The light turns on.

D3f3nd3r is standing behind me, watching in shock.

I turn, and see him staring at me in disbelief.

I panic, thinking he will try to stop me.

I throw the golden spoon in my hand at d3f3nd3r.

The spoon hits him right in between the eyes with such force that his head explodes.

Blood splatters all over d3f3nd3r’s body.

Blood splatters all over the kitchen.

Blood splatters all over me.

I stand, frozen in horror at what I have just done.

D3f3nd3r’s blood drips down my clothes.

The headless corpse of d3f3nd3r collapses to the ground.

Blood begins to pool around his corpse.

I just stand and watch, frozen.

All I wanted was to keep my promise to Axxle.

But at what cost?
