I've thought a bit more about the setup: it's currently in no-one's interest to kill the sheriff: a renegade can only win if he finds himself alone against the sheriff and wins the duel. That's why I think the best way to win for the sheriff/deputies is to eliminate anyone who would pose a threat in a one-on-one duel: JDGA's character is particularly dangerous in such an occasion, since rolling a 4 doesn't make her shoot herself. I also think we should try to keep everyone low on health except for the sheriff.
