Going through the data now, that's the hardest letters round so far, the best to be found was only 6 letters!
Numbers has remained solvable.

Make that the easiest numbers so far, everybody got it! Even if it mostly required the kitchen sink.

Words submitted include Notary, Watery, Wyvern, Tavern, Water and Raven.

Maths Solutions range from complex to slightly less complex.

25 * ((8 + 6) * 2 - 5) - 5
25 * 8 * (5 - 2) - 6 * 5
(25 * 8 - 5 - 5) * 6 / 2
(25 * 5 - 8 - 6 / 2) * 5
((8 / 2) * 25 - 5) * 6
(25 + 2 - 8) * 5 * 6

All of them should have been reasonably similar one of those, I hope I haven't missed anything doing this post on the phone.

Unless I make a rules change again to just the first person with equal highest score to suggest the next combinations, we now go back to Mit as the picker.
I'll list who else participated in round 4 shortly. (when the scoreboard is updated)

If I'm picking again, I'll go with 4 vowels and 2 large numbers, like always.

Shouldn't that one not have that "- 5" at the end? That's my guess, at least.

Yes and yes. (that wasn't even Espeonage's method of getting the 95 to multiply by the 6)

Edited that post to fix that error.

Wow I'm actually annoyed that I only got a 5 letter word after seeing the 6 letter ones. Oh well, the numbers game is my strong point hehe

New Record for entries :D

Also since I broke away from finding 6s, It looks like I (aka my main) is meant to be choosing the next lot of stuff. There was a total of 3 allowed words that contained 6 or more letters, and nobody found oohing.

Congratulations to Cheery Dog, Mitillos and Brian Skies for pulling out the top score with
Hooding
.
The next group are D3f3nd3r, JDGA, Espeonage, Draynth and ForWhomTheJellyRolls, who all found
Dinghy
.
Wickedestjr & Axxle come in with
Dingy
and
Doing
respectfully.
And rounding out today's group we have puzzledan, who found
Dying
, but sadly failed on the numbers. I see a double use of 10 in your submitted 970.

Numbers were a matter of knowing your 75 times tables (6+7=13*75) or finding a 9 to multiply with the 100 to add to the 75. (10+6-7 or 10-7/7).

I want to change things around a bit, so therefore I'll go with the maximum 5 vowels.

And also make it all 4 larges please.

I guess people didn't like that mix as much, only 7 players.

Apparently the best word to be found is LUGGIES. (since I have no idea what it means, I may have to move to a different website that will actually give me definitions for their weird words)

Spoiler: Cheery Dog
Letters: Gales (5 letter word)

Numbers 50*10+100=600
75/25+8=11
600+11=611!

Spoiler: Mitillos
Letters: Gulags. (6 letter word)

Numbers: 50 * 10 + 100 + 8 + 75/25 = 611!

Spoiler: Wickedestjr
Letters: Uglies (6 letter word)

Numbers: 50 x 10 + 100 + 75/25 + 8 = 611!

Spoiler: ForWhomTheJellyRolls
Letters: Guiles (6 letter word)

Numbers:10*50=500
500 +100 = 600
75/25= 3
8+3=11
600+11 =611!

Spoiler: Draynth
Letters: Aisle (5 letter word)

Numbers: 10 x 50 = 500
75 / 25 = 3 + 8 = 11
11 + 100 = 111
500 + 111 = 611!

Spoiler: Espeonage
Letters: Gauges (6 letter word)

Numbers: 8x75=600
600+10=610
1 away, so 7 points

Spoiler: Brain Skies
Letters: Gauges

Numbers: 50*10 + 100 + 8 + 75/25 = 611!

We return to the top of the leaderboard for points.

I've just realized that with the format I'm using for this means that getting anywhere between the less than 5 away and between 5 and 10 away scoring systems for the numbers games makes bothering to possibly get that extra but closer pointless.

I'm therefore considering actually giving out the numbers points on a flat line basis for how far away from the target you were, until I actually went researching (and grabbing the rules from jelly, I actually thought it was done in a straight decreasing method anyway. For all I pay attention, maybe they do on the Australian Letters and Numbers, which ous the version of countdown I have to watch.

Wikipedia says it was just me not paying attention to what they've gone up to when they've failed to reach the target. Which is sometimes because I'm still trying to find a solution to it. But even so, it's possible that with my change of format, I might change it anyway. (it would of course be retroactive if it happens)

Looking at this it appears I missed some wording here and it's actually rather unclear. (this quote now contains what was meant to be the full sentence said there)
I probably should also have named Mitillos as the person it was meant to refer to as due to be picking again.

I hope people aren't running away because it was a slightly tougher maths puzzle. It was still solvable, even if only by 1/3rd of those that submitted.

Spoiler: Letters
Denial (Cheery Dog)
Handle (Wickedestjr)
Toiled (ForWhomTheJellyRolls)
Hailed (Brian Skies)
Loathed (Save The Dragons)
Delation (Mitillos)

Spoiler: Numbers
75 * 10 + 25 / 5 + 7 - 1 (761 - Cheery Dog)
75 x 10 + 7 + 1 (758 - Wickedestjr & ForWhomTheJellyRolls)
(75 + 25) * 7 + (5 + 1) * 10 (760 - Save The Dragons)
75 * 10 + 7 * 5 - 25 - 1 (759 - Mitillos & Brian Skies)

Mitillos top scores in both aspects, and therefore gets to pick again.

Same combination again?
