I'm going to be taking a short break from this game due to real life (finals coming up, mostly). We'll be back with Jelly as the next passenger around Christmas!

Aaaand we're back! Welcome back to the Cash Cab, where we test unsuspecting taxi passengers in a game of trivia. In honor of the winter holidays, we'll be having a special holiday-themed episode, where most (if not all) of the questions will focus on holidays!

Jelly, you're up next. Please pick your team, and here's your choice of destinations:

Bryant Park, for some ice skating! (Free if you bring your own skates, $27 if you rent them..)
Rockefeller Center, to see the giant Christmas tree!
Union Square, to visit the Holiday Market, buy some overpriced artisanal gifts, etc. etc.
Molly's, a pub famous for its impressive Christmas light decorations
Colicchio and Sons, to see the restaurant's Elvis-themed Christmas tree (and eat some delicious food)

Welcome SC and Bowser! And Merry Christmas, everyone!

Unfortunately you didn't choose the Double Ride destination. Our starting point was the Tavern on the Green, which in my humble opinion is an overpriced tourist trap situated on the edge of Central Park (but I guess people like that kind of thing because it's still very popular). That gives you 20 blocks to answer as many questions as you can. Here's your first question, for $50:

What patron saint of sailors and merchants with a reputation for secret gift-giving became the model for modern-day Santa Claus?

My guess would be Saint Nicholas, because that's kind of the obvious answer but I'm too out of it at the moment to be sure.

Ole Saint Nick is the one! That puts you on the board with
$50
. Next question:

What nine-branched candelabrum is lit over the course of the eight days of Hanukkah?

I'm going to psyche myself out, because Menorah seems like the obvious answer but I think it's actually called the Hanukkea or something like that. One of them has less candles prong branches. I could be wrong. I don't remember.

I think it's a menorah. Don't think there's such a thing as a "Hannukea", but I know what FWTJR is getting at.

Menorah

To be honest, my source for Hannakea isn't that reputable, if I'm remembering the right source. He was Jewish and he celebrated Hanukkah but I wouldn't put it past him to pull a fast one or something. I don't know if he was making stuff up or I'm remembering things weird or what.

Menorah is correct! (Although I would also have accepted hanukkiah.) You're now at
$100
, with 17 blocks to go. Here's your next question:

Meant to parody the commercialization of Christmas and the holiday season, what secular holiday "for the rest of us" appeared on Seinfeld?

Apologies for the delay. "Festivus, for the rest of us" brings you to
$150
. This is your last $50 question.

Originally observed as a day to give Christmas boxes to postmen, errand boys, and servants as thanks for good service throughout the year, what holiday is traditionally celebrated the day after Christmas in many Commonwealth countries?

, and we're coming up to an intersection..
