BattleCON G7 - KingdomAces (Lixis) vs. Zorblag (Ottavia)

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Jul 04, 2016 6:59 pm

Post by Zorblag »

It's another game of BattleCON! After some time off we have KingdomAces playing the Biomancer Lixis vs. the Cybernetic Sniper Ottavia Six! Nature vs. Technology! Science vs. Guns! The ability to remove opponent options vs. the ability to make the opponent slow if you can guess what they're up to! Who will win?
Lixis, duh!

If you're interested in learning about or playing a game yourself at some point I'll point you to the BattleCON discussion thread in the Arcade. For now, thanks to KingdomAces for stepping up to be the next scummer to whale on a Troll in the pbf fighting series!

@KingdomAces, go ahead and submit your discard 1, discard 2 and finisher. Remember that Discard 2 is the one you'll get back first.

Shall we play with Dash and the Force Gauge? I guess I think that's what you were doing with GreyICE last time through.

That seems fine.

Also, just looking at the character sheets, it seems like I won't have a lot of the advantages I did that game, so this should make it clear whether I actually like this character, or if that was just because of the matchup.

Spoiler: Pregame
Discard 1: Pruning Burst
Discard 2: Vine Strike
Finisher: Virulent Miasma

Hmm, are you intentionally holding onto your force special action? I'm fine if you want to make that one of your discards. Either one really.

Yeah it's intentional. I doubt I'm actually going to use it, but having an extra 0/0/0 can be helpful sometimes, especially if I want to save for future turns.

I don't know that it was too obvious. I just have to cover target locks with the priorities that are higher than my actions most of the time (or equal to if i don't like the clash option.) Other than dash that was the only move that this particular attack pair worried about. Most of my attacks will be slower so I won't have as easy a time at it.

Looks like I win priority after Target Lock so I'll hit you for 2, move you back one and then move back 2 myself.

oLooooO

Sound right?

Also, since anteing is always possible due to force, is there any way to not make that phase really slow? I can't think of any without making assumptions.

Advance 3.

Also, in case this comes up later, do you know if Rooted is all or nothing, or could I theoretically could have dashed forward and prevented a Cybernetic pushback? That was my intention, but rereading the ability I'm not sure it would actually work.

my reading of it is that you choose for each movement effect as it comes up, and not choose for the entire beat as a sweeping yes or no. so yeah, you could dash and then deny a different move effect pushing you

Hi there Cybele! Good to see you again. Let us know if you want in on a game!

I agree that the rooted should give you the chance to choose which movement effects to ignore one at a time rather than to ignore them all or let them all through. I think your plan was going to be fine.

After I miss I'll move directly to the far side of the arena.

OoooLoo.

I'll get that typed up and then get my next move in. You'll have ante this time so I'll wait to see if you ante before submitting mine (as it can make a difference.)
