In the absence of parentheses to indicate otherwise, exponents are right-associative (and lalaladucks' number would have been smaller than Psyche's otherwise, so it's probably safe to assume that she did mean it that way).

Edit: in case it's not clear, "right-associative" means parentheses are implied starting from the right, so it's 2^(4^8) rather than (2^4)^8
